A Study on the Construction of Regular Polygons in 'Method of Ruler and Compass' (`자와 컴퍼스의 방법`에 제시된 정다각형의 작도 방법 연구)

  • In this paper we study a book 'Method of Ruler and Compass' written in Russia three hundreds years ago. In this book many construction problems related with plane figures and solid figures are solved. In this study we analyze construction method of some regular polygon(square, regular pentagon, regular octagon, regular decagon) suggested in 'Method of Ruler and Compass', give mathematical proofs of these construction.

Simulation of Small Clusters(II) -Geometries and Energies of$C_6-C_10$- (탄소 클러스터들에 관한 시뮬레이션(II) -$C_6-C_10$의 구조와 에너지-)

  • The bond lengths, bond angles and energies of $C_6$ clusters are calculated by using the simulation technique based on some semiempirical potential energy functions, with the result that the equilibrium configuration of $C_6$ is a regular equilateral hexagon. The same simulations have been performed for linear and cyclic forms of $C_7-C_10$ clusters and the results show that the regular heptagonal, octagonal, nonagonal and decagonal forms are more stable than the linear forms of the respective clusters. Comparison of this result with the present author's previous result that the most stable configurations of $C_2-C_5$ are linear implies that the most stable configuration of the cluster changes from one-dimension al to two-dimensional one as the cluster size increases and that the critical cluster size is $C_6$.

  • 마찰식 정미기의 성능에 영향을 미치는 기계설계 및 작동상의 인자로는 스크린의 형태, 롤러의 형태, 롤러회전속도, 출구 저항 등 여러가지가 있다. 이러한 요인들에 대한 연구가 본 논문의 저자에 의해서 시리즈로 연구되어 왔으며, 본 연구는 그의 일환으로 스크린의 단면형상(6각, 8각, 12각 그리고 원통형), 스크린에 뚫려있는 슬랏의 기울기($15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$ 그리고 $-45^{\circ}$), 그리고 출구 저항이 정백미의 질과 양, 정백효율 그리고 정백실내의 정백압력 등에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해 수행되었다. 이 실험에 사용된 공시 정미기는 임도정 공장에서 널리 사용되고 있는 흡입마찰식이었며, 사용된 시료는 밀양 23호인 통일계품종이었다. 각 처리마다 동력 소모량과 정백실내의 정백압력을 측정하기 위해서 "KYOWA" 스트레인 게이지 시스템(strain gauge system), 토오크 변환기, 압력변환기 등이 사용되었다. 본 실험 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 정백과정중에 정백실내의 정백압력은 입구에서 가장 높았고 출구쪽으로 갈수록 점차 감소하였다. 평균 정백압력도 순환 횟수에 따라서 변화 하였는데 첫번째 순환에서 가장 높았고 순환횟수가 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 2) 본 실험에서 사용한 출구저항 수준은 출구저항 수준 1에서 요구되는 정백도의 백미를 얻기 위한 순환 횟수는 2회 이었고 출구저항 수준 2에서는 4회 이었는데, 이를 출구저항 수준이 정백압력, 정백율, 완전미수율 및 도정 효율에 가장 큰 영향을 주었다. 3) 스크린에 뚫려있는 슬랏 각도가 $15^{\circ}$에서 $45^{\circ}$로 증가함에 따라서 정백실내의 평균 정백압력은 감소하였고, 완전미수율과 도정 효율은 증가하였으나, 일반적으로 도정수율은 감소하는 경향을 보였다. $-45^{\circ}$의 슬랏 각도를 가진 스크린에서는 슬랏 각도 $15^{\circ}$인 스크린에서와 거의 비슷한 정백압력 수준을 나타냈으나 완전미와 정백미의 생산은 매우 낮았다. 4) 스크린 표면에 기다란 강편 (보통 "띠"라고 부름)을 붙인 원통과 12각형의 스크린에서는 강편을 붙이지 않은 6각형과 8각형 스크린에서 보다는 비교적 높은 정백압력을 나타냈다. 전자는 후자에 비해서 정백효율은 높았으나 완전미수율은 떨어졌다. 5) 정백실내에서 가장 낮은 정백압력을 나타낸 8각형 스크린은 높은 도정수율과 완전미수율을 가져왔으나 상대적으로 정백효율은 낮게 나타났다. 6) 정백실내의 반경 방향의 평균 정백압력($P_R$)과 완전미수율($Y_h$)은 다음과 같은 1차적인 역비례 관계가 있었으며(평균 정백압력 범위는 0.5-0.9kg/$cm^2$), $Y_h=-28.661P_R+84.860$ ($r^2=0.858$) 정백효율($Y_e$)과 정백압력($P_R$) 사이에는 다음과 같은 2차적인 관계가 존재함을 알 수 있었다. $Y_e=-597.5P_{R^2}+929.96P_R-210.15$ ($r^2=0.759$) 정백효율은 정백압력이 0.7-0.8kg/$cm^2$일 때 가장 높았으며, 이때 변이도 가장 심한 것으로 나타났다.

Wetting Characteristics of Water Droplet on the Solid Surfaces with Variable Pillar-Type Nanostructures (다양한 기둥 타입을 가지는 나노 구조물 고체 표면에서의 물 액적 젖음 특성)

  • A numerical study, using the molecular dynamics simulation method, was carried out to investigate the wetting characteristics of water droplets on a solid square pillar surface with variable periodic edge length patterns at the nanoscale. In this study, the pillar plane was supposed to be rectangular or square shaped. In addition, the surface area was increased while the shape of the pillar plane was kept fixed. In the case of the square pillar, the edge length increased from $4.24{\AA}$ to $12.72{\AA}$. Also, the rectangular pillar had two types of length edges. In this case, one edge length was fixed at $8.48{\AA}$ and the other edge length was increased from $4.24{\AA}$ to $12.72{\AA}$. Through these length changes, the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity of a water droplet on the variable pillar surfaces were analyzed.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근까지 유사관측을 수행하고 있는 금강본류 하도구간의 금남$\sim$공주 지점을 대상으로 하였다. 분석을 위하여 이 지점의 총유사량 산정에 영향을 미치는 부유사량 관측 및 수위, 유량과 같은 하천 흐름 등에 관한 과거의 자료를 수집 정리 하였다. 본 연구에서 적용하고자 하는 교량의 교각에 대한 기하학적 형상은 원형, 정사각형, 정팔각형, 장방형으로 하였으며 분석 모형은 SED2D-WES 모형을 이용하여 유역에 대한 교각의 형상이 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구 하였다. 그 결과 지름이 6m, 경간장 57m인 원형교각의 경우 교각에서 약 14.3m 떨어진 곳에서 최고 유속 0.75m/s가 발생되었으며, $6{\sim}6m$의 정사각형교각의 경우 교각으로부터 약 15.8m떨어진 곳에서 0.68m/s의 최대 유속이 발생하고 $6{\sim}6m$ 정팔각형교각의 경우 교각으로부터 약 16.2m떨어진 곳에서 0.65m/s의 최대유속이 발생하고, 마지막으로 $3{\sim}6m$ 장방형교각의 경우 교각으로부터 약 21m 떨어진 구간에서 0.63m/s의 최고 유속이 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 대상유역의 길이가 길고, 유속이 낮으므로 유출지점까지 흘러내려가는 유사량보다 하천내에 유입된 유사가 그대로 퇴적되는 경우가 많아 24시간 분석결과 하상변동량은 퇴적량과 침식량을 합하여 약 0.22%정도 변동되는 것으로 나타났으며, 교각형상에 따른 하상변동특성으로 원형교각의 경우 세굴이 일어나는 지점은 교각에서 약 16.88m떨어진 지점까지 하상변동이 일어났으며, 정사각형 교각의 경우 교각에서 약 10.96m떨어진 지점까지, 정팔각형 교각의 경우 교각에서 약 6.32m떨어진 지점까지, 장방형 교각의 경우 교각에서 약 18.23m떨어진 지점까지 하상변동이 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

Heritabilities, Genetic Correlations and Path-coefficient Analysis of Some Economic Characters among Dihaploids from Anther Cultured (Nicotiana tabaccum L.) (담배 약배양에 의한 반수체배가계통의 특성에 관한 연구 - 유전력, 유전상관, 경로계수를 중심으로 -)

  • Dihaploid lines derived from the another of the $F_1$ of single cross, SC72 $\times$ Hicks (Nicotiana tabacum L.) were estimated the variation, heritablities, genetic correlations and path-co-efficients on agronomic characters and chemical compositions. Dinaploids exhibited reduced vigor and growth when comparecd with the mid-parent value but had increased nicotine contents, and the range of dihaploids characters were deviated more than that of their parents. Heritabilities of days to flowering, leaves per plant, nicotine. contents, leaf size and plant height appeared high value, and the yield, value per kg. and reducing sugar contents were low. There were positive genetic correlations between yield, and value per kg., leaf width, leaves per plant and reducing sugar contents and negative genetic correlations appeared between nicotine contents and the other characters except for index of leaf shape. Path-coefficient analysis of genotypic correlation coefficients showed that leaves per plant and leaf width lave a high direct effect, and plant height and days to flowering have a high indirect effect on yield, respectively.

An analysis on concept definition and concept image on quadrangle of middle and high school students (중·고등학생의 사각형에 대한 개념 정의 이해와 개념 이미지 분석)

  • The purpose of this study are to analyze how well middle and high school students understand the concept definition of quadrangle and to explore the phenomenon about their concept image. A test tool was developed and 60 8th graders, 63 9th graders and 65 10th graders were tested, and some students who needed in-depth analysis were interviewed. The results are as follows. First, it cannot be said that understanding level of the concept definition of the quadrangle naturally improves as the grade level goes up. Particularly, it was found that the understanding of the definition of the rhombus is the lowest in all three grades compared to other quadrangle. Second, although female students understood the definition of square better than male students, the understanding level of the definition of trapezoid, parallelogram, rhombus, and rectangle did not differ by gender. Third, it was found that the students who did not understand the concept definition of the quadrangle were more and more influenced by the concept image as the grade level went up. Fourth, it showed that a tendency to be less influenced by the concept definition and more influenced by textbooks and teachers as the grades go up when students form a concept image.

Studies on Manufacture of Mineral Water with Wood Charcoals (목질탄화물을 이용한 미네랄수 제조에 관한 연구)

  • To evaluate wood charcoal as raw material for mineral water production, dissolution of inorganic ions from charcoal to water, pH and adsorption ability of chlorine in water were investigated as main variables. More potassium ion was dissolved in water as higher temperature manufactured charcoal but other ions showed no difference with different charcoal making temperatures. Highest dissolved cation was potassium followed by calcium and sodium. Among wood species, charcoal from Quercus variabilis and Platanus occidentalis showed significantly higher potassium content in water than that of larch, red pine and white pine. Other cations had similar pattern to the potassium but their difference was not apparent as much as potassium. pH value of water treated with charcoal was higher for wood charcoals from Platanus occidentalis (pH 8.5) and Quercus variabilis (pH 8.4) which contained higher inorganic cations. In chlorine removal in water by charcoal, all wood charcoals showed greater chlorine removal than that of the control, but softwood charcoals resulted in higher removal than those of hardwoods. There was no significant difference in the dissolution of cations and pHs between particle charcoal and whole charcoal. With easy of control, whole charcoal is better for mineral water making raw material than particle charcoal does.

Clinical and Radiographical Follow-up for Residual Displacement of Fracture Fragments after Interlocking Intramedullary Nailing in Humeral Shaft Fractures (상완골 간부 골절에서 교합성 골수강 내 금속정 고정 후 잔존한 골절편 전위에 대한 임상적, 방사선학적 추시)

  • Purpose: This study is designed to evaluate the clinical and radiographical results for the displacement of fracture fragments after interlocking intramedullary nailing in humeral shaft fractures. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the results of 8 cases of humeral shaft fractures that have displacements of over 10 mm and under 20 mm after interlocking intramedullary nailing between July 2004 and August 2011. The mean age was 54.1 years (range, 43 to 70 years) and there were 3 male and 5 female patients. Radiographically, the time to bony union, change of displacement and angulation of the fracture site, and degree of improvement of these two factors were measured. Clinically, the range of motion of shoulder and elbow joints, postoperative pain and complications were evaluated. Results: All cases showed complete bony union in last follow-up. The mean time to bony union was 16.1 weeks. At the last follow-up, almost all cases had normal range of motion of shoulder and elbow joints. But, one case had stiffness of shoulder joint. Therefore, arthroscopic capsular release and manipulation was performed. One case had transient shoulder pain and the other case had transient elbow pain. In the two cases, pull-out of proximal interlocking screw were noted, but they finally had bony union. Conclusion: Although considerable displacement of fracture fragments after interlocking intramedullary nailing in humeral shaft fractures was present, we had excellent radiographical and clinical outcomes. Therefore, an additional procedure, such as open reduction or another fixation for the fracture site, was not necessary.

Microanatomical Structure of Male Reproductive Organ in the Common Squid, Todarodes pacificus (Cephalopoda: Ommastrephidae) (살오징어 Todarodes pacificus 수컷 생식기관의 미세해부학적 구조)

  • This study was performed to understand the reproductive ecology of cephalopods, described the microanatomical structure of the male reproductive organs and spermatophore in the common squid, Todarodes pacificus, a major cephalopods in Korea. The common squid was gonochorism and had sexual dimorphism, the color of the reproductive organs reflected on the mantle and the presence of the hectocotylus. Male reproductive organs were composed of testis, primary vas deferens, spermatophoric gland (seminal vesicle), spermatophoric sac (Needham's sac) and secondary vas deferens. The male has specialized reproductive organs such as the spermatophore forming organ, spermatophoric gland. Testis was histologically a seminiferous tubule type. The primary vas deferens was a thin and inverted triangular spring-like form that connected from the rear of the testis to the spermatophoric gland. Inside, it was filled with sperm of basophilic in H-E stain. The spermatophoric gland is an irregular oval connected to the primary vas deferens and spermatophoric sac, and there were a number of tubular glands. The spermatophoric sac is a tubular structure located between spermatophoric gland and secondary vas deferens, and a number of spermatophores have been identified in the lumen. The secondary vas deferens was connected to the posterior of the spermatophoric sac and had a spermatophore inside. The spermatophore was a long, transparent tube about 22 mm long, with a sperm mass inside.
