  • An objection of this study is to develop a measuring circuit of a gauge using radioisotope for compaction control. The gauge developed in this study makes use of radioisotope with the activity exempted from domestic atomic law and consists of measuring circuits for gamma-rays and thermal neutrons, a high voltage supply unit, and a microprocessor. To obtain meaningful numbers of pulse counts, parallel five and two circuits are provided for gamma-rays and thermal neutrons, respectively. Being simple in electrical characteristics of G-M detector for gamma-rays, pulses are counted through only a shaping circuit. Very small pulses generated from He- 3 proportional detector for thermal neutrons are amplified to the maximum of 50 [dB] and a window comparator accepts only pulses with meaning. To minimize effects of natural environmental radiation and electrical noise, circuits are electrostatically shielded and pulses made by ripples are eliminated by taking frequency of high voltage supplied to the circuit and pulse height of ripples into consideration. One-chip microprocessor is applied to process various counts, results are stored and the gauage is made capable to communicate with PC. Enough and meaningful numbers of pulses are counted with the prototype gauage for compaction control.

  • The purpose of this study was to development and evaluate the effects of cardiocerebrovascular disease prevention program for taxi drivers on physiological variables(blood pressure, blood sugar, serum lipids) and physical variables(body fat, muscle endurance, cardiopulmonary endurance, balance). This study consisted of two phases: developing the program and evaluating its effectiveness. 1 phase, 321 taxi drivers investigated a health condition and a life habit and an educational need and developed a program with the ground which will reach. 2 phases, The effectiveness of the program was tested in October 2011, with 51 taxi driver. The experimental group was given 12 weeks period exercise 1 weeks 3 time, disease education 4 time, 2 nutrition consultations. Although there was no significant reduction in blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar, serum lipids, there were statistically significant increases in muscle endurance (t=-7.62 p<.001), cardiopulmonary endurance (t=-3.39, p<.001), balance(t=-4.13, p<.001) and decreased body fat (t= -3.11, p<.015) in before compared to after. These findings suggest that an integrated cardiocerebro-vascular disease prevention program improves physical fitness.

  • An aqueous solution of $Ca(OH)_2$ containing a small amount of dissolved $Sr(OH)_2$ was carbonated with $CO_2$ gas, and the effects of the reaction temperature and $Sr(OH)_2$ on the carbonation were investigated. The higher the reaction temperature and the larger the ratio of $Sr(OH)_2(aq)$ to $Ca(OH)_2(aq)$, which amounts to the larger the ratio of $OH^-$ to $CO_2(aq)$, the better pillar aragonite was formed. $Sr(OH)_2$ played an important role in the formation of pillar aragonite, because it is easily formed itself into rhombic $SrCO_3$ during the initial period of carbonation process and acting as a seed for the pillar aragonite of similar morphology. In addition, due to its substantially higher solubility compared with $Ca(OH)_2$, $OH^-$ concentration in the carbonation mixture and subsequently $CO_3^{2-}$ necessary for the crystal growth are increased.

  • This paper is concerned with the query slipping and its prevention for trajectory-based matchmaking service in wireless sensor networks. The problem happens when a query propagating along a subscribe trajectory moves through a publish trajectory without obtaining desired information, even though two trajectories intersect geometrically. There follows resubmission of the query or initiation of another subscribe trajectory Thus, query slipping results in considerable time delay and in the worst, looping in the trajectory or query flooding the network. We address the problem formally and suggest a solution. First, the area where nodes are distributed is logically partitioned into smaller grids, and a grid-based multicast next-hop selection algorithm is proposed. Our algorithm not only attempts to make the trajectory straight but also considers the nodal density of recipient nodes and the seamless grid-by-grid multicast. We prove that the publishing and subscribing using the algorithm eventually eliminate the possibility of the slipping. It toms out that our algorithm dissipates significantly less power of neighbor nodes, compared to the non grid-based method, as greedy forwarding, and the fixed- sized grid approach, as GAF (Geographical Adaptive Fidelity)

Abstract A new transformation of a subclass of LR(k`) grammars into equivalent LL(k`) grammars is studied. The subclass of LR(k`) grammars is called extended k`-transformable. The transformed LL(k`) grammars left-to-right cover the original LR(k`) grammars. Previous transformations transform k`-transformable and PLR(k`) into LL(k`). The new transformation is more powerful in that it handles the extended k`-transformable subclass of LR(k`), which strictly includes k`-transformable and PLR(k`) classes. The previous covering transformations into LL grammars are obtained by simulating the actions of the conventional LR parser. Specially, a predict action of reduction goals is added to the action set in order to finitely represent stack string. In this paper, the stack string representation is refined by adding LR items to represent a parsing context, and the prediction of reduction goal is extended by generalizing the prediction formalism. Based on them, the previous grammar classes with LL({{{{k`) covering grammars are extended to extended k`-transformable grammars.

  • A Vertex Shader is designed to show more 3D graphics expressions, and to increase flexibility of the fixed function T&L (Transform and Lighting) engine. Design of this Shader is based on Vertex Shader 1.1 of DirectX 8.1 and OpenGL ARB. The Vertex Shader consists of four floating point ALUs for vectors operation. The previous 32bits floating point data type is replaced to 24bits floating point data type in order to design the Vertex Shader that consume low-power and occupy small area. A Xilinx Virtex2 300M gate module is used to verify behaviour of the core. The result of Synopsys synthesis shows that the proposed Vertex Shader performs 115MHz speed at the TSMC 0.13um process and it can operate as the rate of 12.5M Polygons/sec. It shows the complexity of 110,000 gates in the same process.

  • We propose a low noise broadband light source (BLS) and investigate a cost-effective wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network (WDM-PON) for the convergence of broadcasting and data service. The proposed BLS is used for an injection light of wavelength-locked Fabry-Perot laser diodes (F-P LD) and helps the color-free operation of dense WDM-PON (DWDM-PON). In addition, we apply this BLS to a optical source for overlay of digital broadcasting channel on the WDM-PON.

  • As the Internet is quickly evolving from best-effort networks to business quality networks, billing based on the precise traffic measurement becomes an important issue for Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Billing settlement is necessary not only between ISP and customers but also between ISPs. Currently, most ISPs use a flat rate charging policy. Besides the degree of difficulty in deriving appropriate charging policies agreeable by a concerned party, there are substantial technical challenges to come up with a good usage-based accounting system. Usage-based accounting depending on IP packet header information only is not sufficient anymore due to highly dynamic nature of the development and the use of the Internet applications such as peer-to-peer and network games. They are using port numbers dynamically and even several applications can use the same port number. Thus, more precise means of classifying them and accounting their traffic usages are required. In this paper, we propose a high performance, adaptable, configurable, and scalable content-aware application traffic measurement and analysis system which can achieve very accurate usage-based accounting.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of computing Pearson correlation coefficients and Spearman's rank correlation coefficients in a secure manner while data providers preserve privacy of their own data in distributed environment. For a data mining or data analysis in the distributed environment, data providers(data owners) need to share their original data with each other. However, the original data may often contain very sensitive information, and thus, data providers do not prefer to disclose their original data for preserving privacy. In this paper, we formally define the secure correlation computation, SCC in short, as the problem of computing correlation coefficients in the distributed computing environment while preserving the data privacy (i.e., not disclosing the sensitive data) of multiple data providers. We then present SCC solutions for Pearson and Spearman's correlation coefficients using secure scalar product. We show the correctness and secure property of the proposed solutions by presenting theorems and proving them formally. We also empirically show that the proposed solutions can be used for practical applications in the performance aspect.

  • A useful application of smart assistants is to predict and suggest users' daily behaviors the way real assistants do. Conventional methods to predict behavior have mainly used explicit schedule information logged by a user or extracted from e-mail or SNS data. However, gathering explicit information for smart assistants has limitations, and much of a user's routine behavior is not logged in the first place. In this paper, we suggest a novel approach that combines explicit schedule information with patterns of routine behavior. We propose using inference based on a Markov decision process and learning with a reward function based on inverse reinforcement learning. The results of our experiment shows that the proposed method outperforms comparable models on a life-log dataset collected over six weeks.
