An Evaluation and Combination of Noise Reduction Filtering and Edge Detection Filtering for the Feature Element Selection in Stereo Matching (스테레오 정합 특징 요소 선택을 위한 잡음 감소 필터링과 에지 검출 필터링의 성능 평가와 결합)

  • Most stereo matching methods use intensity values in small image patches to measure the correspondence between two points. If the noisy pixels are used in computing the corresponding point, the matching performance becomes low. For this reason, the noise plays a critical role in determining the matching performance. In this paper, we propose a method for combining intensity and edge filters robust to the noise in order to improve the performance of stereo matching using high resolution satellite imagery. We used intensity filters such as Mean, Median, Midpoint and Gaussian filter and edge filters such as Gradient, Roberts, Prewitt, Sobel and Laplacian filter. To evaluate the performance of intensity and edge filters, experiments were carried out on both synthetic images and satellite images with uniform or gaussian noise. Then each filter was ranked based on its performance. Among the intensity and edge filters, Median and Sobel filter showed best performance while Midpoint and Laplacian filter showed worst result. We used Ikonos satellite stereo imagery in the experiments and the matching method using Median and Sobel filter showed better matching results than other filter combinations.

  • In the CDMA mobile communication system with asynchronous mode among base stations, the initial PN code acquisition method using a matched filter can be considered for the rapid PN code synchronization acquisition in the handoff region. In the model of the noncoherent QPSK/DS-SS under the Rayleigh fading channel, the mean acquisttion time of the matched filter is analyzed to have a shortened time in proportion to the length of matched filter to be compared with the serial correlation method. In this paper to improve the HW complexity of the conventional matched device which enables the repeated correlation process, is designed and its function is verified through the FPGAsimulation using Altera MaxPlus Ⅱ.

  • 수중소음체의 음원 특징을 해석하기 위해서는 배경잡음과 해면$\cdot$해저반사파의 영향이 적은 심해에서 측정하여 분석하여야 한다. 그러나 측정의 어려움으로 인공 수조에서 측정하여 수면과 수조벽에 의해 발생되는 반사파들을 제거하여 신호 고유의 특징을 해석한다 이러한 반사파들의 부가효과를 보상하여 수중소음체의 신호특징을 해석하기 위하여 정합필터배열처리(Matched Filter Array Process : MFAP)기법을 적용하고자 할 때 각 센서에 적용되는 정합필터는 처리시간의 문제로 인해 필터길이를 제한하여 구성되게 된다 정합필터는 수조의 임펄스응답함수의 시역전함수로 정의되는데 필터길이에 따라 수신신호 특징 개선 정도가 좌우된다 본 연구에서는 인공수조에서 부가되는 반사파들의 효과를 보상하여 수신신호 특징 개선을 위해 정합필터배열처리기법을 적용할 때 각 센서의 정합필터의 시간길이가 특징 개선에 미치는 영향을 신호대잡음비(SNR)로 정의하여 분석하였고 수조의 특성에 따른 최적의 정합필터 시간길이를 제안하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 국내에서 채택한 ATSC-DTV (Advanced Television System Committee-Digital Television)의 단일주파 수망 (SFN; Single Frequency Network) 구성을 위한 TxID (Transmitter Identification)용 ZCD (Zero Correlation Duration)확산코드 기반의 부분상관 정합필터를 새롭게 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 정합필터의 구현 알고리즘은 TxID에 있어서 기존의 정합필터 구조를 적용할 경우에 발생되는 소비전력 문제나 하드웨어 구현의 어려움을 획기적으로 해결할 수 있다는 잇점을 갖는다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 다양한 잇점을 갖는 새롭게 제안한 ZCD용 부분상관 정합필터를 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array)를 이용한 디지털 하드웨어로 구현하고 그 성능을 분석함으로써 유용성을 확인하였다.

Spectrum Based Detector in Non-white Noise Environment (비백색 잡음 환경에 적합한 스펙트럼 기반 탐지기)

  • The MF(matched filter) is the optimum signal detector that maximizes the output instantaneous signal power to average noise power ratio in white noise environment. But it cannot give the optimum detection performance if the background noise is not white. So, the whitening process preceding the matched filter is needed in the conventional detector which results in a PWMF(pre-whitening matched filter). Its performance is mainly affected by the estimation accuracy of non-white noise model which is used in the whitening procedure. To estimate more accurate model to improve performance, the computational complexity is increased. Therefore, a spectrum based detector which shows better performance than the PWMF under the similar complexity condition or less complexity under the similar performance condition is proposed in this paper. And its performance and complexity are analyzed and compared with the conventional PWMF.

  • In this Paper, the matched filter for searching initial synchronization in DSSS (direct sequence spread spectrum) receiver is studied. The matched filter with a single data flow path is described which can be presented by HDL (Hardware Description Language). In order to improve the processing time of operations for the filter, equations are arranged to represent two data flow paths and the associated hardware model is proposed. The model has an architecture based on parallelism and pipeline for fast processing, in which two data flow paths with a series of memory, multiplier and accumulator are placed in parallel. The performance of the model is analyzed and compared with the matched filter with a single data flow path.

  • 기존의 대표적인 디지털 통신방식으로 주파수 편이 변조(FSK: frequency shift keying), 위상 편이 변조(PSK: phase shift keying), 진폭 편이 변조(ASK: amplitude shift keying) 방식들이 있다. 본 논문에서는 2진 정합필터를 이용하여 웨이브릿 편이변조 신호를 복원하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 웨이브릿 편이 변조 시스템은 스케일링 함수(scaling function)와 웨이브릿(wavelet)을 이용한다. 스케일링 함수를 1로, 웨이브릿 함수를 0으로 할당하여 2진 데이터를 변조한다. 기존의 웨이브릿 편이 변조 시스템에서는 복원을 위해 후처리가 필요하였다. 된 논문에서는 2진정합필터를 이용하여 복원하므로, 별도의 후처리 과정 없이 복원을 가능하게 하였다. 모의실험 결과 제안한 알고리즘이 타당함을 확인하였다.

Efficient Partitioning of Matched Filter for Long Pulse in Active Sonar Application (능동 소나에서 시간적으로 긴 펄스에 대한 정합 필터의 효율적인 분할 기법)

  • Recently, long pulses are transmitted for target detection in active sonar application. Matched filtering implemented by simple convolution algorithm, requires massive computational power for long replica. The computational loads are reduced significantly by implementing the convolution in the frequency domain with overlap add method, but the performance degrades for specified input/output system delay which constrains the size of FFT function. For performance improvement, the replica could be partitioned into uniform blocks (FDL) by re-using IFFT operations, or variable blocks of increasing length (MC) by using the largest possible blocks to calculate the convolution. In this paper, by combining the strong points of the two methods, we propose a new filter partition structure that allows for further optimization of the previous two methods.

Adaptive Hybrid Fingerprint Matching Method Based on Minutiae and Filterbank (특징점과 필터뱅크에 기반한 적응적 혼합형 지문정합 방법)

  • Jain et al. proposed the hybrid matching method which was combined the minutia-based matching method and the filter-bank based matching method. And, their experimental results proved the hybrid matching method was more effective than each of them. However, this hybrid method cannot utilize each peculiar advantage of two methods. The reason is that it gets the matching score by simply summing up each weighted matching score after executing two methods individually. In this paper, we propose new hybrid matching method. It mixes two matching methods during the feature extraction process. This new hybrid method has lower ERR than the filter-bank based method and higher ERR than the minutia-based method. So, we propose the adaptive hybrid scoring method, which selects the matching score in order to preserve the characteristics of two matching methods. Using this method, we can get lower ERR than the hybrid matcher by Jain et al. Experimental results indicate that the proposed methods can improve the matching performance up to about 1% in ERR.
