A study on the explosion proof by the electric discharge on voltage application type (전압인가식 제전기의 방폭화에 관한 연구)

  • It is necessary to eliminate the electric static for the prevention of disasters by electric static discharge, the improvement of production efficiency, the protection of a sensitive electronic devices in the variable manufacturing processes. Then it is handled for elimination of electric static in the painting plant, the film manufacturing plant, the producing semi-conductor factory. This study described on the ideal condition of electric static elimination efficiency by changing of the length of voltage input type eliminator's bar, the length of copper pipe and the gap of electrode and the existence of explosion by inflammable gas with that conditions. As the result, the electric static elimination efficiency has the most ideal value at the 8-11(mm) gap of the earth electrode and needle type electrode each elimination bar and there is not explode at the explosive experiment of inflammable gas with the ideal elimination bar. We can consider that there are some data which are needed for elimination efficiency and it will be able to protect the occurrence of explosion accident inflammable nas in the industrial fields.

PIV Measurements on the Flame Initiation and Propagation under Gas Explosions by Electrostatic Discharge Energies in a Confined Chamber with an Obstacle (장애물이 있는 챔버 내부의 정전기 방전 에너지에 의한 가스 폭발시 초기화염과 화염전파 특성에 대한 PIV 계측)

  • In order to investigate the effects of three different electrostatic discharge energies on gas explosions, a high-speed PIV system has been applied. The present study paid attention to the flame initiation by the gas explosions and its propagation at the existence of an obstacle within a chamber. Three different ignition energies such as 0.56 mJ, 52.87 mJ and 112.5 mJ were used. It is found that the ignition kernel is bent by the electrostatic discharge during the flame initiation. Tangential velocities of unburnt mixture ahead of initially propagating flame fronts are increased with increasing ignition energy, which makes the flame propagation faster before it reaches the obstacle. Although the flame speed was found to be less sensitive to the ignition energies, the flame developments were different. The effects of the energies on explosion pressures were also discussed.

A Study on Firing Risk Assessment of Film Manufacturing Process (필름제조 공정의 착화 위험성에 관한 연구)

  • We have considered the fire hazard by the static in anti-static film manufacturing factory on this study. Solvents that the flash point as ethanol, methanol and iso-propyl alcohol is low are used on the manufacturing process of anti-static film, and the minimum ignition energy of these solvents is ignited easily despite less discharge energy form 0.16 mJ to 0.65 mJ. After the static electric potential produced on each of the manufacturing plants was measured, electric potential on films of paste board is measured form 17 kV to 20 kV. But this exceeds 5 kV, which is electrifiable of objective of nonconductor for fire & explode protection. Therefore, We figure out the fire hazard was high by a static discharge in anti-static film manufacturing factory.

Experimental Study on the Electrostatic Discharge in the HDD Spindle System Using Fluid Dynamic Bearings (유체동압베어링을 사용하는 하드디스크 드라이브 스핀들 시스템에서 발생하는 정전기 방전에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper introduces the mechanism of the ESD(electrostatic discharge) in the HDD spindle system using FDBs(fluid dynamic bearings). When a HDD(hard disk drive) spindle system is rotating, triboelectric charging occurs in the FDBs through the friction between the lubricant and the rotating shaft or between the lubricant and stationary sleeve. And this electrostatic charge is accumulated in the rotating parts of the HDD spindle system because they are insulated from the ground by the lubricant. This research shows experimentally that the behavior of electric charge and discharge in the FDB spindle system is the same as that of a capacitor. It also measures the electrostatic voltage difference between the rotating and stationary parts in the FDB spindle system due to the change of humidity, supporting load and motor speed. This research shows that the control of ESD is required in the HDD spindle system using FDBs, because the electrostatic charge accumulated in the FDB spindle system may cause the breakdown damage of the GMR head and data loss consequently.

  • The static eliminator is used for prevention of disasters by static discharge, improvement of production efficiency, protection of a sensitive electronic element on the discharge of static, and it is handled for elimination of static in the painting plant, the film manufacturing plant, the producing semi-conductor factory. This study described on the explosion appearance by discharge phenomena on the voltage input type eliminator's ion generation bar of inflammable gas through an experimental tests. It was used Hydrogen, Ethylene, Propane, Methane gas with the inflammable gas and it was studied on the ignition phenomena by the length of ion-generation static bar, the number of ion-generation electrode and the variation of input voltage to the ion-generation electrode. As a result of this study it was confirmed that the shorter of the bar's length, the greater of explosion danger. And it is considered that there will not ignite at general using inflammable gas, in case of more than 900 mm bar and one electrode.

  • 정전기방전(Electro-Static Discharge)에 의한 피해는 전기전자제품의 파괴, 분체의 유도성 폭발, 도장 시 화재 등의 산업 각 분야에 걸쳐 인명이나 물질적 형태로 방대하게 발생하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 여러 형태의 ESD 피해형태 중 전기전자제품 관련분야에 대한 국내외적인 동향을 소개하고자 한다. 반도체, 디스플레이, 등 전기전자 산업분야의 소형화, 고속화는 ESD에 대한 민감도를 증가시키고 있으며, 전기전자 환경의 모든 산업분야에서 제품의 생산성, 신뢰성, 안전성에 커다란 영향을 미치고 있다. 그러므로 ESD 관련 국내 산업의 피해실태와 원인, ESD 방지를 위한 국내기술의 수준을 파악하고, 국제적인 기술동향을 분석하는 것은 매우 중요한 일이다. 이를 바탕으로 한 국내 관련 산업의 국제적인 경쟁력 확보를 위한 국가차원의 관리시스템 및 교육제도 도입성의 필요성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 기술의 발달과 정보화 사회로의 이행은 각종 전기, 전자 기기 사용의 양적, 질적 증가를 가져 왔으며 이에 따른 불요 전자파는 전기, 전자 기기 상호간의 장해, 인체에의 유해 등 기술적, 사회적 문제로 나타나 고 있다. 따라서, 전자파 환경을 보호하기 위하여 전자파 장해 검정 제도가 국, 내외 적으로 시행되고 있으며 또한 열악한 전자파 환경에서 정상적인 동작을 보장하기 위한 전자파 내성이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 전자파 내성을 국제 전기 표준 위원회(IEC)에서는 그 원인에 따라 ESD 내성(정전기 방전), 방사 내성, EFT 내성(급격한 과도 현상), Surge 내성, 전도 내성 등으로 분류하고 있으며 원인별 시험 기술기준도 작성되고 있다.   • In order to understand the characteristics of electrostatic discharge (ESD) by a charged human body, a dynamic analysis method based on RCL circuit and a quasi-static analysis method based on two-body model are introduced. In this paper, these methods calculate waveforms, discharge energy and potential difference to analyze the ESD phenomena from given initial conditions and geometry. Results are compared and discussed.
