Derivation of EEG Spectrum-based Feature Parameters for Mental Fatigue Determination (정신적 피로 판별을 위한 뇌파 스펙트럼 기반 특징 파라미터 도출)

  • In this paper, we tried to derive characteristic parameters that reflect mental fatigue through EEG measurement and analysis. For this purpose, mental fatigue was induced through a resting state with eyes closed and performing subtraction operations in mental arithmetic for 30 minutes. Five subjects participated in the experiment, and all subjects were right-handed male students in university, with an average age of 25.5 years. Spectral analysis was performed on the EEG collected at the beginning and the end of the experiment to derive feature parameters reflecting mental fatigue. As a result of the analysis, the absolute power of the alpha band in the occipital lobe and the temporal lobe increased as the mental fatigue increased, while the relative power decreased. Also, the difference in power between resting state and task state showed that the relative power was larger than the absolute power. These results indicate that alpha relative power in the occipital lobe and temporal lobe is a feature parameter reflecting mental fatigue. The results of this study can be utilized as feature parameters for the development of an automated system for mental fatigue determination such as fatigue and drowsiness while driving.

  • 동적 근력작업의 많은 부분이 기계화됨에 따라 상대적으로 정신적 작업의 비율이 높아지고 있다. 그러나 모든 동적 근력작업이 기계로 전환되는 것은 아니다 특히 의료, 복지 및 산업현장의 일부 등의 많은 부분에서 인간의 동적 근력작업에 의존하고 있는 실정인데, 이들 분야에서는 작업주체인 인간의 근육 피로에 수반되는 정신적 피로에 따라 사고의 위험성이 상존하고 있다. 또한 어떤 분야에서는 높은 강도의 동적 근력작업에 병행하여 대소의 정신적 작업이 요구되는 경우가 있는데, 인간은 신체적 활동에 육체적 피로가 수반되면 휴식을 통해 피로를 회복하고자 속성을 지니고 있다. 그러나 육체적 작업 도중 피로가 쌓여도 휴식을 취하는 것이 항상 가능한 것은 아니다. 즉, 생체리듬이 나쁜 때에도 작업을 속행하지 않으면 안 되는 경우도 일상에서 자주 경험할 수 있는데 이러한 상태에서 육체적, 정신적인 위험이 수반될 수 있다.(중략)

  • 해상에서 선박을 운항하는 항해사의 피로도 (Fatigue) 는 안전항해와 매우 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있으며 당직근무 중에 피로가 누적되어 업무수행능력이 저하되면 선박의 충돌 및 좌초 둥과 같은 매우 위험하고 중대한 해양사고를 유발할 가능성이 높아지게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 항해사의 근무환경, 피로유발요인 및 피로증세 등에 대하여 조사하였고, 항해경험자를 대상으로 정신적 육체적인 작업부하도에 대한 피로도 평가관련 설문조사를 실시하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. 그리고 이와 같은 피로도 조사 및 설문조사 분석결과를 바탕으로 항해사의 피로도 평가항목을 선정하고 이를 토대로 항해사의 업무수행능력을 평가하기 위한 피로도 평가모델을 제시하였다.

  • 단조 작업에 의한 정신적 피로도의 평가를 위하여 피험자에게 1자릿수 숫자 3개를 더하는 연산 작업을 수행하게 하였다. 주관적 평가를 통해 단조작업임이 확인된 task를 사용하여 작업 시간이 증가함에 따라 단조감이 증가하도록 실험과정을 설계하고 생리신호를 측정하였다. 측정된 생리신호 중 심전도, 피부온도, 호흡을 분석하였다. 단조 작업을 수행함에 따라 피부온도의 증가 경향이 나타났으며, 심박 변화율의 전력스펙트럽 분석결과 고주파성분의 감소와 Power spectrum balance가 증가하였다. 특히 power spectrum balance와 주관적 평가치의 상관관계가 높게 나타났다. 또한 상관관계가 높은 생리신호를 사용하여 정신피로를 예측한 결과 (R=0.945)가 정신피로를 잘 나타낼 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Evaluation of fatigue by Analysis of Relation between Subjective Rating Score and Working Performance with Color Temperature (주관평가와 작업수행도의 상관관계 분석에 의한 조명 색온도에서의 피로도 평가)

  • We purpose to evaluate the fatigue of the error correcting task on monitoring with color temperature 2700 K, 4000 K and 6500 K. Results of questionnaire on subjective feeling of visual fatigue, mental fatigue and concentration. Visual fatigue and mental fatigue level were the lowest, concentration level was the highest and working performance was the best at 2700 K. At 6500 K, mental fatigue level was the highest and concentration level is the lowest. At 4000 K, visual fatigue level was the highest and working performance shown the worst ratio of correcting answers. As results, color temperature 2700 K is the best condition of color temperature to perform the error correcting task on monitoring.

  • IMO에서는 피로(Fatigue)를 정신력, 체력, 신속성, 반응시간, 기능의 조화, 의사결정, 마음의 안정 등을 포함한 모든 육체적, 정신적 또는 감정적인 소모의 결과로 인하여 인간의 육체적 또는 정신적 능력이 저하되는 것 즉, 인간의 효율성의 감소라고 정의하고 있다. 선박승무원의 피로는 선박안전운항과 해양환경보호를 위한 업무수행능력(Performance)에 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 승선중인 선박승무원의 건강(Health)과도 밀접한 관계가 있으며 또한 많은 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 선박승무원의 피로에 영향을 미치는 다양한 요인과 그로 인한 효과들을 살펴보고 피로와 선박승무원의 건강과의 관련성 및 그 영향 등에 대하여 고찰을 하고자 한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the relation between the detailed categories of the self-efficacy of workers in the field of railroad signaling and the detailed categories of their fatigue in the use of analysis of moment structure(AMOS) model. A self-administered questionnaire survey of workers in the field of railroad signaling had been conducted and a total of 341 copies were analyzed. This study had the assumption that their general self-efficacy and social self-efficacy would negatively influence their physical fatigue and mental fatigue. As a result, their general self-efficacy negatively influenced their physical fatigue and mental fatigue, whereas their social self-efficacy didn't influence their physical fatigue and mental fatigue. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the fatigue of the study subjects by enhancing corporate support to increase their general self-efficacy.

  • Safe navigation is closely related to the fatigue of marine officers. Also, the fatigue of duty officer can cause serious marine accidents. In this study, the documentary survey about the marine officers' working environments, fatigue factors and symptoms was conducted. And the questionnaire survey which is related to the fatigue analysis factors such as sleepiness, mental physical workload and alcohol for apprentice officers was carried out, and the results of questionnaire survey were analyzed. Lastly, on the basis of this study, the fatigue analysis model was suggested in order to assess the marine officers' performance in the future.

  • Recently, smart wearable devices for monitoring health status have been utilized as interest in health care has increased. In this paper, we developed a fatigue measurement system that works with smart wearable devices. Unlike physical fatigue that is restored when you take enough rest, mental fatigue can decrease the efficiency or concentration of work, so you can monitor your mental health status through measurements. This system provides the function to transmit the measured data from the smart wearable device to the smartphone and to calculate the mental fatigue. A fatigue index was developed to measure fatigue and expressed as a number from 1 to 5. In addition, the results of the fatigue calculation and the survey were compared with the results of the independent sample t-test. Therefore, this system will be used to help users manage their health efficiently.

Deep Learning Model for Mental Fatigue Discrimination System based on EEG (뇌파기반 정신적 피로 판별을 위한 딥러닝 모델)

  • Individual mental fatigue not only reduces cognitive ability and work performance, but also becomes a major factor in large and small accidents occurring in daily life. In this paper, a CNN model for EEG-based mental fatigue discrimination was proposed. To this end, EEG in the resting state and task state were collected and applied to the proposed CNN model, and then the model performance was analyzed. All subjects who participated in the experiment were right-handed male students attending university, with and average age of 25.5 years. Spectral analysis was performed on the measured EEG in each state, and the performance of the CNN model was compared and analyzed using the raw EEG, absolute power, and relative power as input data of the CNN model. As a result, the relative power of the occipital lobe position in the alpha band showed the best performance. The model accuracy is 85.6% for training data, 78.5% for validation, and 95.7% for test data. The proposed model can be applied to the development of an automated system for mental fatigue detection.
