An Efficient Integer Division Algorithm for High Speed FPGA (고속 FPGA 구현에 적합한 효율적인 정수 나눗셈 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes an efficient integer division algorithm for high speed FPGAs' which support built-in RAMs' and multipliers. The integer division algorithm is iterative with RAM-based LUT and multipliers, which minimizes the usage of logic fabric and connection resources. Compared with some popular division algorithms such as division by subtraction or division by multiply-subtraction, the number of iteration is much smaller, so that very low latency can be achieved with pipelined implementations. We have implemented our algorithm in the Xilinx virtex-4 FPGA with VHDL coding and have achieved 300MSPS data rate in 17bit integer division. The algorithm used less than 1/6 of logic slices, 1/4 of the built-in multiply-accumulation units, and 1/3 of the latencies compared with other popular algorithms.

  • In a fuzzy control system to vocess fuzzy data in high-speed for intelligent systems, one of the important problems is the improvement of the execution speed in the fuzzy inference and defuzzification stages. Especially, it is more important to have high-speed operations in the consequent Pan and defuzzification stage. Therefore, in this paper, to improve the speedup of the fuzzy controllers for intelligent systems, we propose novel integer fuzzy operation method without mulitplications and divisions by only integer addition to convert real values in the fuzzy membership functions in the consequent part to integer grid pixels $(400{\times}30)$ without [0, 1] real operations. Also we apply the proposed system to the truck backer-upper control system. As a result, this system shows a real-time very high speed fuzzy control as compared as the conventional methods. This system will be applied to the real-time high-speed intelligent systems such as robot arm control.

An Experimental Study on the Self-Healing Performance of Solid Capsules According to the Composition Ratio of Crystal Growth Type Inorganic Materials (결정성장형 무기재료 조성비에 따른 고상 캡슐의 자기치유 성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this paper, a solid capsule was prepared using a crystal growth type inorganic material capable of hydration reaction. The solid capsules were mixed at 3, 5, and 10% according to the composition ratio of 8:2, 7:3, 6:4 based on the cement mass, and the self-healing mortar was mixed, Durable healing properties were evaluated through the water permeability test. As a result of the water level permeability test, the effect of optimally improving the natural healing performance was shown by mixing the solid capsules prepared in a composition ratio of 7:3 of the solid capsules. In the case of a crack width of 0.3mm or less, it is estimated that more than 90% of the self-healing performance can be secured. As a result, it was judged that the self-healing performance of the solid capsule had an effect on the durable healing properties through the water permeability test, It is judged that there is a tendency to improve self-healing performance according to the mixing of solid capsules.

A Study on Recycling Plan for the Dehydrated Sludge of Water Treatment Plant (탈수 처리된 정수장 슬러지의 재활용 방안 연구)

  • Water treatment plant sludge occurred in sedimentation and inverse wash process is generally disposed by ocean dumping or reclamation after dehydration processing using mechanical or natural dry method. Recently, ocean dumping of sludge is limited actually by London Convention. Physical, chemical, and geotechnical characteristics of water treatment plant sludge were analyzed by experiments. The possibilities for recycling of the dehydration sludges as materials for covering sanitary landfill were examined. Experiments performed with sludges mixed with general soil to improved the sludge properties are the hydrometer analysis, the liquid and plastic limit test, the specific gravity test, the compaction test, and the unconfined compression test. The value of ${\gamma}_{dmax}$ is increased and OMC(Optimum Moisture Content) is lessened with mixed sludge. The value of maximum compressive strength and friction angle are increased and the cohesion is decreased with mixed sludge. The ratio between sludge and soil in mixed sludge was 3:7 and the strength of mixed sludge showed $3.6kg/cm^2$. These results satisfy the regulation of U.S. E.P.A regarding materials for covering sanitary landfill.

Design of the Perforated Pipe in Water Treatment Process using CFD (전산유체역학(CFD)를 활용한 정수공정에서 유공관 설계)

  • Role of the perforated pipe is to drain the water with equal pressure and velocity through the holes of perforated pipe. The perforated pipe is being used in many processes of water treatment system, however, the design parameter of perforated pipe is not standardized in korea. In this study, we have found the design parameter of perforated pipe in the water treatment system using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The uniformity of outflow from the perforated pipe is directly affected according to area ratio (gross area of holes/surface area of the perforated pipe). In other words, the uniformity of outflow is improved as area ratio is smaller. Also, at the same area ratio, the uniformity of outflow is improved as number of holes is increase. Specially, in case of the two holes per length of pipe diameter (2/D) shows the most uniformity of outflow and the best hydraulic with the smaller pressure drop. When the inlet velocity of pipe is about 0.06m/sec, the flux of pipe has decreased as from front to backward. When the inlet velocity is 3 m/s, the flux of pipe has increased as from front to backward.

  • 최근 들어 점차 증가하고 있는 어린이 비만은 유전적인 요인이 강하게 미치고 있는 반면, 어린이 비만 발생에 영향을 미치는 환경요인으로 식이섭취의 습관 및 운동 등 생활습관이 중요한 요인으로 대두되고 있으며 또한 성장기 어린이비만은 육체적, 정신적인 위험이 내재되어 있다. 특히, 이시기의 소아비만의 약 80%가 성인기 비만으로 이환되며 최근 그 수요도 증가하고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 비만판정법으로 대부분이 신장이나 체중으로 판정하는 경우가 많고 아동의 비만을 적절하게 측정하는 지표에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다.(중략)

Membrane Fouling Effect with Organic-Inorganic Materials Using the Membrane Separation in Drinking Water Treatment Process (분리막을 이용한 정수처리공정에서 유, 무기물질이 막오염에 끼치는 영향)

  • This study was carried to investigate the effect of humic acid and kaloin which cause the turbidity and organic substance component for optimization of drinking water treatment process using the membrane separation. Also we were ovserved the optimum operating condition which flux was stabilized, while specific resistance value in membrane was minimized. As the result, the membrane separation was operated at low specific resistance value with the increase of the pressure. And then, cake load decreased by high velocity with the increase of the linear velocity, and the tendency in which specific resistance value and flux increased. Therefore, we confirmed the optimum operating condition as pressure $2.0 kgf/cm^2,$ 0.92 m/sec linear velocity.
