  • In two experiments, we compared envy with admiration in attentional and motivational benefits. In addition, we tested whether individual differences in working memory capacity (WMC) have consequences for emotion regulation. In Study 1, following WMC tasks, the participants were primed either with envy or with admiration through a recall task, in which they had to recall their own experiences about envy or admiration. The participants in the envy condition considered it more undeserved that another person had an advantage over them, than in the admiration condition. Additionally, in the envy condition, WMC was related to happiness, and anxiety was related to the motivation to study more. In contrast, there were no significant relationships between WMC, emotion and study hours in the admiration condition. Study 2 (N=43) found greater memory for the envy scenario in the envy condition than in the admiration and in the control condition. Additionally, there were significant relationships between WMC, anxiety and recall accuracy in the envy condition. However, these relations were not found in the admiration and in the control condition. Findings implicate that envy may play an important role in memory systems and that WMC is related to emotion regulation abilities.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate mothers' beliefs and executions in the social relations area of the 2019 revised Nuri curriculum, and to investigate the effects of beliefs and executions on the emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior of young children. For this purpose, data were collected by distributing questionnaire packets to 268 mothers of children aged 3-5 years who were enrolled in 7 early childhood education institutions in Gyeonggi-do. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of the study, first, there was a statistically significant difference in the overall belief according to the mother's personal characteristic, the educational level, and a significant difference in the sub-factor, living together, in the execution. Second, it was found that there was a significant positive correlation between all variables except for the relationship between social relation execution and the ability to regulate others, which is a sub-factor of emotional intelligence. Third, beliefs and executions in social relation were found to affect all emotional intelligence and pro-social behavior, except for the effect of social relation execution on the ability to regulate others. This study is expected to provide basic data to improve parents' interest in the improvement of young children's social ability and practical interaction in child rearing.

In order to verify and achieve the purposes mentioned above, questionnaire data are gathered and analysed from 458 employees in Daedeok Innopolis Venture Enterprises, Dae-jeon Metropolis, South Korea. Multiple regression and multiple hierarchical regression analysis are applied to test the proposed hypotheses: 1) the relationship between organizational commitment(affective commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment) and intention to leave, 2) the moderating effects of personal factors(gender and occupation) on the relationship between organizational commitment and intention to leave. Empirical survey's findings are as follows; First, affective commitment(AC) and continuance commitment(CC) are related negatively with intention to leave(IL), but normative commitment(NC) is not related significantly with IL. Second, gender positively moderates the relationship between affective commitment and intention to leave, and occupation negatively moderates the relationship between continuance commitment and intention to leave.

  • This study examined the impact of learning organization activities on burnout and the moderating effect of supervisor trust in a learning organization. The results of the study shows that among the activities of a learning organization, independent variables in this study, promoting inquiry and dialogue as well as encouraging collaboration and team learning affect burnout. In other words, the dedication of an organization to creating a culture in which various learning approaches are experimented through questioning and giving feedback as well as collaborative learning that can reinforce the effective use of team resources have an impact on reducing emotional exhaustion, which is considered to be at the core of burnout. Plus, these factors reduce impersonalization, which is activated to prevent further emotional exhaustion by dealing with customers, colleagues and jobs in a cold, negative and perfunctory way. In this study, the dimensions of promoting inquiry and dialogue as well as encouraging collaboration and team learning were found to reduce the decline in personal sense of achievement of an employee with a negative assessment of himself or herself derived from a lack of achievement in his or her job. Supervisor trust (integrity, benevolence and ability) had a moderating effect on the relationship between strategic learning leadership and impersonalization/emotional exhaustion. This suggests that the trust of supervisor helps mediate and moderate the emotional exhaustion and impersonalization of organizational members by encouraging leaders to drive change and take the organization to a new direction. The study has provided implications that communication plays an important role in reducing burnout in the learning context such as positive, appreciative inquiry and feedback analysis to identify strength, and that supervisor trust is critical in order to ensure strategic learning leadership exerts greater influence on the organization.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to develop an emotional self-regulation program for obese children and to examine the program's effectiveness on depression, eating habits, and body mass index. Methods: The emotional self-regulation program was developed from theory-based strategies and a pre-post pilot study was conducted with 46 children (19: intervention, 27: control). The program included 6 weekly group sessions over 2 months. The embedded experimental model of concurrent mixed methods was used to better understand research outcomes by converging both quantitative and qualitative data. Anthropometric measurements and surveys were performed before and after the intervention. Three focus group interviews were conducted with all participants after intervention to explore their experiences. Results: The intervention group displayed decreased depression levels in the quantitative outcomes. The participants also expressed positive outcomes such as improvements in confidence, impulse management, intimacy, happiness, and losing weight. Conclusion: These findings suggest that emotional self-regulation skills are crucial factors for obese children not only to manage their emotional problems but also to control their weight. Further research is needed with a larger sample size and randomized controlled trials.
