  • 광역 네트워크 정보원으로부터 정보량이 증가함에 따라 효율적인 정보검색 도구의 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 기존의 정보검색 도구는 내용기반 검색방법으로 대상영역에 관계되는 체계적인 지식이 결여되어 사용자의 요구에 정확한 정보의 제공이 어려웠다. 본 논문에서는 광역 네트워크 환경에서 시시각각으로 생성.소멸되는 정보 중 사용자가 원하는 정보를 정확한 시간에 정확하게 제공하기 위해 지능적인 처리가 가능한 Ontology를 이용하였다. 광역 네트워크에 산재하는 대량의 정보원에서 Ontology를 이용하여 사용자가 필요한 정보를 자동적으로 수집.분류하는 지능형 에이전트인 정보검색 시스템을 제안한다.

Consumer Categorization Based on Perception of Functional Jacket and their Utilization of Functional Information and Hang-tag (기능성의류 인식에 따른 소비자 분류와 이에 따른 제품정보 및 행택 활용도 연구)

  • As a part of integrated study for technical communication between consumer and manufacturer of functional clothing, functional clothing consumers were categorized based on their perception of the functional outdoor jacket and the differences in the source of information and use of hang-tag were examined according to the groups. Questionnaire survey was conducted on 472 males and females in their 20s to 60s, who have experience of purchasing functional outdoor jackets. Perception of functional outdoor jackets was classified into four factors ('functionality', 'price', 'experience/knowledge' and 'brand/design') and the respondents were categorized into three groups according to the factors: 'unconversant/brand & design pursuing group', 'conversant/function pursuing group' and 'high-priced products preferring group'. 'Unconversant/brand & design pursuing group' was composed of high rate of office workers and students in their 20s and 30s who use internet most frequently as source of information while 'conversant/function pursuing group' was composed of high rate of professionals in their 40s and 50s who make the most frequent use of information on hang-tag. 'High-priced products preferring group', which has high rate of the elderly in their 60s and housewives, obtain their information mainly from salespersons. 'Unconversant/brand & design pursuing group' was satisfied with functional information more than other two groups and 'conversant/function pursuing group' concerned for the hang-tag and required more explanation of terminology used in hang-tag. The results effectively explained the features of consumer groups and their different responses toward the information of functional outdoor jacket.

A Study of Information Searching Behaviors Caused by Time pressure of Researchers (연구자의 시간압박감에 따른 정보탐색행태에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of this study is to find the difference of information searching behaviours consist of information pursuit cognition and searching character by time pressure of researchers. The majar findings and result by time pressure of researchers are summarized as follows : In terms of information retrieval systems, according to the time pressure, there is a significant difference in recall, precision and diversity. In terms of main used material, there is a significant difference in a book, a research report, and a Journal. In terms of resource types, there is a significant difference in both record and human resource. Also, in terms of searching behaviours, there is a difference to spend time for information collection and information searching strategy, and to decide information searching method and degree of searching.

A Study on the Relevance Judgement of College Students in Problem Solving Process (대학생의 과제해결과정 중 정보적합성 판단에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study are to analyze relevance judgement of college students' problem solving process and suggest improvements for information literacy education in higher education. The in-depth interviews were conducted with 9 subjects to identify relevance judgement processes and problems. As a result, the main problems during relevance judgement processes were judgement about content of document aligned with subject's opinion, judgement about reliability of newspaper articles, shortage of relevance judgement time due to deadline of an assignment and judgement of relationship of documents and evaluation result. The recommendations for information literacy education are as follows: objective relevance judgement education, guidance of reliable information source;showing guideline of using reference information by professor and emphasis of engaging in information (4.1 stage of Big 6).

An Automatic Schema Generation System based on the Contents for Integrating Web Information Sources (웹 정보원 통합을 위한 내용 기반의 스키마 자동생성시스템)

  • The Web information sources can be regarded as the largest distributed database to the users. By virtually integrating the distributed information sources and regarding them as a single huge database, we can query the database to extract information. This capability is important to develop Web application programs. We have to infer a database schema from browsing-oriented Web documents in order to integrate databases. This paper presents a heuristic algorithm to infer the XML Schema fully automatically from semi-structured Web documents. The algorithm first extracts candidate pattern regions based on predefined structure-making tags, and determines a target pattern region using a few heuristic factors, and then derives XML Schema extraction rules from the target pattern region. The schema extraction rule is represented in XQuery, which makes development of various application systems possible using open standard XML tools. We also present the experimental results for several public web sources to show the effectiveness of the algorithm.

An Analysis of Physicians' Online Information Search Process at the Point of Care (의사의 임상질문 해결을 위한 온라인 정보검색과정 연구)

  • This study aims to analyze physicians' online information search process to solve the clinical questions at the point of care. To achieve this purpose, ten university hospital-based physicians participated in-depth interviews and observation studies. Based on Wilson's problem solving process, this study analyzed the characteristics of each information search stage and efficiency of online searching. The results showed that participants tend to relatively immediately formulate their clinical questions. However, basic searching strategies were only used and a few preferred information sources were chosen. However, average satisfaction degree of online searching appeared high with 5.7 (7 Likert-scale) and problem-solving index increased after searching. As physicians are likely to use well organized and evidenced-based credible information easily, it implies the needs for an integrated search system within the electronic medical record (EMR). In addition, as other online resources' awareness is lower comparing Google and PubMed, active promotions and training of other resources are needed.

A Study on University Students' Intention to Use Video Contents as an Information Source of Serious Leisure Activities (대학생의 진지한 여가 활동 정보원으로서 동영상 콘텐츠 이용 의도에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims at exploring what kinds of factors affect university students to choose video contents as information sources of serious leisure activities. Among other, It focuses on the effect of information quality and cognitive authority. This study analyzed 209 sets of data collected by conducting an online survey of university students from across the country. The implications and results of this study are as follows: First, among the sub-components of information quality, timeliness, relevance, and accuracy had a positive effect significantly on the intention of video contents use as an serious leisure information source, and among those of cognitive authority, the characteristics of platforms was the most influential one. Second, the multiple regression analysis was used to figure out that, some sub-components of cognitive authority turned out to have a positive effect significantly on the evaluation of information quality. This study has a significant meaning in that it investigated the intention of video content use with the two factors (information quality and cognitive authority), especially at this time when more and more people are enjoying video contents as an serious leisure information source.

Factors Influencing the Customer Value and the Performance of National R&D Information Services of the R&D Managers (연구관리자의 국가R&D정보서비스 고객가치 및 업무성과 영향요인)

  • The importance of knowledge and information is ever increasing. The ingredients of the customer value of the information offered for free by the public information organizations are different from those of the ordinary products or services. This study aims to identify the factors which affect the information customer value and the job performance of the R&D managers who use national R&D information service(NTIS). The results show the quality of information service and the perception of services organizations have significant positive effect on customer value. In addition, the customer value have significant influence on the job performance. Meanwhile, the perception of information organizations have not effect on the job performance. Regarding the moderating effect of the information using environment, the results are as follows: the information using environment moderates the relationship between the information service quality and between the customer value and the perception of information organizations, and the relationship between the customer value and the job performance, but does not moderate the relationship between the perception of information services organizations and the job performance. According to the research results, we proposed several implications to foster the customer value management in the field of public information as well as future research directions.

  • There was widespread criticism of the online news services due to their bias toward sensational and soft news. Thus, news services based on journalist values are socially requested. News source network analysis(NSNA), an algorithm to cluster and weight news sources, quotes, and articles, is suggested as a method to emphasize on journalist values like facts, variety, depth, and criticism in the previous study. This study suggests 'News Sources' as a visualization tool of NSNA. 'News Sources' shows news as bar graphs, weighted by facts and criticism, and arranged by organizations and subjects. This study designed a beta version using KINDS, a news archive of Korean Press Foundation.
