인터넷과 웹의 팽창과 함께 가용 정보의 양이 폭발적으로 증가하고 있으나 이에 대응되는 효과적이고 효율적인 정보 검색능력의 지원이 없다면 이와 같은 방대한 정보들은 정보 이용자들에 있어 이용 가치가 없으며 이는 곧 정보 범람(information overflow)을 의미한다. 본 논문에서는 이에 대한 해결 방안으로써 사용자의 편이성과 정보검색 능력을 극대화할 수 있는 자연어 질의 문맥 구조 기반 개인형 메타 정보검색 엔진을 제안하고자 한다.본 방법론은 자연어 질의를 기본 입력 형태로 하여 자연어 질의의 문맥 구조(context structure) 및 기타 정보 평가 요소들을 이용하는 다척도(multi-criteria)의사 결정 기법 및 개인형 메타 정보 평가(information rating) 방법론으로 구성되어 있으며 이를 위한 시스템 설계를 제안한다.

The purpose of this study is on Effect of Teacher Librarian Information Literacy on Library-Assisted Instruction and on searching the method of increasing the Information Literacy. The result of this study indicates that there is no statistically meaningful between the Library-Assisted Instruction and Teacher Librarian's Information Literacy. However the School Library-Assisted Instruction extremely lacks forming a scheme and Information Literacy extremely lacks Information seeking Therefore subject teachers and the librarian teachers need to reinforce the cooperation to reinvigorate the School Library-Assisted Instruction and systematic training program of Information seeking have to be practiced to increase Librarian Teacher's Information Literacy.

21세기는 지식기반 사회다. 보다 정확한 지식정보를 누가 더 신속하게 선점하는 가가 상품이나 노동력보다 높은 가치를 갖고, 정보 획득 능력의 차이가 사람의 능력을 좌우하는 사회인 것이다. 특히, 급변하는 과학기술계에서 정보 획득 능력의 차이는 R&D의 성패를 가르는 결정적 요인이다. 그리고 그 결정적 요인을 좌우하는 사람들이 바로 오늘의 주인공, '정보검색시스템의 마이더스'들이다.

현재 웹(Web)상에서 운용되고 있는 검색엔진의 활용실태에 관한 체게적 검토를통해 각 엔진에 대한 가능을 비교·분석함으로써 각각의 특징과 효율성을 평가해보고자하였다. 효율적인 검색을 위해서는 각 검색엔진의 특성을 파악하여야 하며 얻고자 하는 정보의 특성(정보분류, 사용분야, 정보 형태 등)에 의해서도 검색엔진의 선별이 필요하다. 검색엔진들은 자신만의 독특한 검색방법을 지니고 있으며 사용자 인터페이스, 질의(Query)의 형태와 검색결과에 차이를 보일 수있다. 그러나 이들 검색엔진의 효율성을 비교하기 위한 기준은 아직까지 정립되지 않았으며 학문적으로 검증된 명확한 기준이 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 검색엔진의 효율성 비교를 위해 현재 인터넷상에서 통용되고 있는 검색능력평가에 관한 보고서들에서 평가기준으로 삼고있는 기준들을 수집, 분석한후 가장 타당한 것으로 평가기준들을 선정, 체계화하는 작업을 선행하였다. 그리고 각 검색엔진의 검색효율성을 평가하여 그 결과를 분석함으로써 최적의 검색엔진 선택과 정확한 정보의 검색 및 활용에 일조하고자하였다.

본 연구는 중요시설 보안검색에서 기초가 되는 X-ray검색에서 판독요원들의 판독능력 향상 방법에 대한 연구를 목적으로 한다. 특히 색상과 구조로 판독하는 지금의 방법에서 대부분 폭발물에 대한 기초지식만으로 판독이 진행되고 있어 폭발물의 구조이해의 필요성을 강조하고 폭발물의 구조이해가 X-ray 판독능력 향상에 도움이 될 것이라는 가설을 설정하여 연구 과제를 도출하고 있다.

In this paper, we examine work in the evolution of content-based retrieval systems that rely on an intelligent infrastructure. Here, we refer to intelligence as the capabilities of the systems to build and maintain situational or world models, utilize dynamic knowledge representations, exploit context and overage advanced reasoning and learning capabilities. We argue that these elements are essential to producing effective systems for retrieving visual information at semantic levels matching those of human perception and cognition. In this paper, we review relevant research on the understanding of human intelligence and construction of intelligent systems in the fields of cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, semiotics. We also discuss how some of the principal ideas from these fields lead to new opportunities and capabilities for content-based retrieval systems. Finally, we discribe some of our efforts in these directions. In particular, we present MediaNet, a multimedia knowledge presentation framework that facilitate and enable intelligent content-based retrieval.

The purpose of this study is to provide an empirical investigation of the effects of communicative competence on information literacy of undergraduates. The research results were found as follows; First of all, receptive competence has a significant effect on information needs, information retrieval and information evaluation. Secondly, transmission competence has a significant effect on information integration and information representation. Finally, adjustment competence has a significant effect on the overall information literacy, that is, information needs, information retrieval, information assessment, information integration, information representation and information ethics. Therefore, we can understand communicative competence has a closed relationship with information literacy.

This study examined the differences in a searcher's mental states of a complex information search and retrieval task during information search process between the two groups: participants who were exposed to mental demand manipulation and those not exposed. Data from the experiments and questionnaires were analyzed. Based on qualitative approach and quantitative analyses, the results indicated that the participants exposed to mental demand required more thoughts; addressed negative emotions more often; reduced a searcher's efforts; and interrupted search performance than those not exposed. These results suggest that mental demand contributed to a searcher's perceived thought, emotion, effort, and performance, although these mental states differed in relative contribution of information search process. Significant differences were found between the two groups with respect to the component of mental demand, performance, and frustration of the NASA-TLX subjective cognitive load. These results have implications for search user interface design and information search systems among others.

현대인들은 인터넷의 등장과 함께 지식정보의 풍요 속에 살고 있다. 지식정보의 풍요는 언제, 어디서나 내가 원하는 정보를 탐색 및 검색, 분석, 생성할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 지식정보화 사회에 초등학교 현장에서 가장 흔히 활용되는 능력은 정보검색이다. 정보검색은 쉬워 보이지만, 넘쳐나는 정보의 홍수 속에서 올바르고 정확한 정보를 찾아내기란 초등학생들에게 어려운 일이 아닐 수 없다. 이에 본 연구에서는 웹기반에서의 초등학생들이 학습주제에 따라 효율적으로 활용할 수 있는 정보검색방법에 대해 논하고자 한다.

현재 인터넷에는 많은 종류의 검색사이트가 존재하며 이를 통해 보다 쉽게 정보를 이용하고 얻을 수 있다. 또한 대다수 검색사이트의 경우 단순히 검색서비스를 제공하는 사이트로서보다는 전자우편, 쇼핑, 경매 등과 같은 다양한 서비스를 제공하는 포탈(Portal)사이트로 발전해 가고 있다. 이는 한가지 컨텐츠만으로는 인터넷에서 확고한 자리 매김을 할 수 없기에 일어나는 현상으로 보여진다. 그렇지만, 현재 검색사이트가 가진 서비스와 검색에서 활용성에 대한 문제가 있다고 보여진다. 그것은 기존의 검색사이트가 포탈서비스로 전환함에 따라 고유의 기능을 잃거나 포탈의 모형완성에만 노력을 기울여 검색에는 소홀한 것으로 보여진다. 이에 논문에서는 현존하는 한국의 검색사이트들의 현황을 파악하고 이러한 검색사이트들이 어떠한 컨텐츠를 지향하고, 어떠한 방향으로 나아갈 것인가에 대한 분석을 하였다. 이 논문에서는 현재까지 선행되었던 연구들이 검색엔진에 대한 것이었으나 검색사이트의 검색형태나 검색의 능력에 관한 연구가 보고되고 있다. 현재검색사이트가 포탈형태로 나아가고 있는 시점에서 검색사이트의 포탈형태에 대한 연구는 매우 부족하다. 이번 연구에서는 국내의 7개 검색사이트를 중심으로 검색결과와 카테고리 형태에 대하여 분석하고, 제공서비스 측면에서는 메일서비스, 쇼핑서비스의 문제점과 특징적 서비스의 잘못된 방향에 대한 문제점을 파악하고 개선안을 제시하였다.
