Membrane Filtration Characteristics of Oil/Water Emulsions (오일/물 에멀젼의 분리막 투과 특성)

  • Separation characteristics of cutting oil-in-water emulsions were studied experimentally by using various kinds of flat-type microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes. For ultrafiltration membranes the permeation behavior of cutting oil emulsions obeys the film model, whereas a significant deviation from the model was observed for ASYPOR microfiltration membranes. The experimental data obtained for all the membranes showed that the effect of operating pressure on the permeation flux of oil-in-water emulsions is not very significant. At low transmembrane pressures the permeation flux decreased gradually with increasing filtration time, whereas the permeation flux at high transmembrane pressures decreased steeply for early filtration time. However, every flux eventually reached a constant value that depends only on the applied transmembrane pressure. For the hydrophobic polycarbonate microfiltration membrane the permeation flux increased with the filtration time. The critical permeation pressures were also determined from the data obtained from unstirred cell experiments.

Preparation and Characterization of TiO$_2$ Ultrafiltration Membranes for Reclamation of Waste Lubrication Oil (폐윤활유 재생용 TiO$_2$ 한외여과막의 제조 및 특성평가)

  • 폐윤활유 재생용 TiO2 한외여과막은 정밀영과용 지르코니아 복합막(즉, 복층담채) 및 알루미나 단층 담체(기공크기 0.1$mu extrm{m}$)상에 졸-겔 코팅법에 의하여 TiO2 분리막 층을 코팅하여 제조 하였다. TiO2 졸의 특성 분석을 통하여 봉입침지(sealed dip-coating) 및 가압 코팅(pressurized coating)법으로 결함이 없는 TiO2 복합막을 제조할 수 있는 코팅조건을 최적화 하였다. 합성 TiO2 한외여과막의 분리막층 두께는 1$\mu\textrm{m}$이하의 범위에서 조절되었으며,기공값을 보여주었으며 75$0^{\circ}C$까지 열처리하여도 80%정도의 용질배제율(기공크기 22.5nm)을 유지하는 점으로 봐서 고온 공정을 요하는 폐윤활유 재생막으로서 충분한 열적 안정성을 갖고 있었다.

Characteristics of Crossflow Electro-microfiltration Process for Treatment of Oily Waste Water (오일함유 폐수 처리를 위한 전기정밀여과 공정 특성)

  • Experimental study on the crossflow electro-microfi1tation of simulated oil emulsion waste water was carried out with polypropylene microfiltration membrane to evaluate the applicability of electrofiltration process in the treatment of oily waste water generated from many industries including nuclear field. The effects of electric field strength transmembrane pressure, crossflow velocity, and oil emulsion concentration on the permeate flux were investigated. In electro-microfiltration process using the external electric field, significant enhancement of permeate flux was achieved by diminishing membrane fouling and it was shown that considerable permeate flux can be maintained for long-term operation compared with conventional membrane filtration process without an electric field.
