GTA-GMA 하이브리드공정에 따른 자동차용 아연도금강판의 용접부 기공감소 (I) - 선행 GTA의 영향 (Porosity Reduction during Gas Tungsten Arc-Gas Metal Arc Hybrid Welding of Zinc Coated Steel Sheets (I) - Effect of Preceding Gas Tungsten Arc)

  • The Zn coating on automotive galvanized steel sheets can improve corrosion resistance. However, the boiling temperature of Zn is lower than the melting temperature of steel and it causes well-known spatter and porosity problem. One of most prominent solutions is a pretreatment of Zn coating by an additional welding arc prior to the main welding process. In this research, GTA and GMA are selected as heat sources for pretreatment and main welding processes, respectively. The authors suggested three possible mechanisms to reduce weld defects by the GTA pretreatment: (1) Formation of gap between the sheets; (2) Evaporation of Zn layer; (3) Oxidation of Zn layer. Among them, Zn Oxidation is the most important mechanism to reduce weld defects in the GTA-GMA hybrid process.

  • 본 연구는 각 연결부에 대한 수치 해석을 통하여 강재-콘크리트 합성 프레임 구조물의 성능을 조사하였다. 본 연구의 혁신적인 측면은 강재 보와 CFT 기둥의 연결부 사용과 저탄소강과 형상 기억 합금 구성요소의 조합을 활용하는데 있다. 이러한 새로운 연결부의 목적은 지진 후 건물의 손상과 잔류 흐름을 줄이기 위해 고탄성 형상기억합금 인장부에서 발생하는 교정 작용과 저탄소강의 우수한 에너지 분산 능력을 활용하는 것이다. 연결부의 핀, 전체적인 고정 또는 부분 구속으로 모델링을 할 수 없기 때문에 이러한 구조물들의 해석과 설계는 복잡하여 PR-CFT 연결부의 전체적인 거동을 알기 위한 수치해석을 위해 정교한 3차원 솔리드 요소로 구성된 유한해석 모델을 개발하였다. 이러한 유한요소 해석으로 얻은 결과를 바탕으로 스프링 요소를 이용하여 간단한 연결부 모델링을 공식화 시켰다. 반복 하중을 가하여 전체 프레임 구조물의 거동을 확인하였고 3D 유한요소 해석을 통하여 단순 거동을 비교하였다.

FCAW 이종접합에서 용접자세에 따른 기계적 시험 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Mechanical Test Characteristics according to Welding Position in FCAW Heterojunction)

  • 조선소, 교량 구조물, 건설기계, 플랜트 산업 등 다양한 분야에서 폭 넓게 활용되고 있는 이산화탄소 아크용접(FCAW: Flux Cored Arc Welding)은 피복 아크 용접(SMAW: Shielded Metal Arc Welding)의 단점을 보완하기 위한 대안으로 1950년대 초 개발되었다. FCAW는 모든 자세에서 용접이 가능하고 작업여건 변수가 많은 현장에서 우수한 품질을 얻을 수 있는 장점이 있어 탄소강과 합금강의 중판, 후판 용접에 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 FCAW를 이용하여 SS400(일반구조용 압연강재)와 SM490A(용접구조용 압연강재)를 이종용접한 후 용접부의 기계적 특성(인장시험, 굽힘시험, 경도시험, 충격시험, 매크로시험)을 분석하고 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 인장시험 결과, 모든 용접자세에서 KS 규격 인장강도 범위($400{\sim}510N/mm^2$)를 만족하였다. 굽힘시험 결과, 대부분의 시편에서 굽힘시 표면의 터짐 현상이나 기타 결점이 나타나지 않았고, 소성변형 후에도 충분한 인성을 발휘하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 경도시험 결과, 모든 결과 값이 KS B 0893의 규격치 350Hv보다 낮게 나타나 양호한 것으로 판단된다. 충격시험 결과, 모든 결과가 KS 기준 수치인 27J 보다 큰 것으로 나타났다. 매크로시험 결과 용접부의 형상별로 균일한 조직 상태를 나타냈으며, 용접부 전단면에 걸쳐 내부 결함, 기포 또는 불순물 등이 발견되지 않아 라미네이션의 우려가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Characteristics of dissimilar metal welds between alloy steel ASTM A387 Gr. 91 and carbon steel ASTM A516 Gr.70 made with Flux cored arc welding(FCAW) have been evaluated in terms of microstructure, mechanical strength, chemical analysis by EDS as well as corrosion test. Three heat inputs of 15.0, 22.5, 30.0kJ/cm were employed to make joints of dissimilar metals with E91T1-B9C wire. Post-weld heat treatment was carried out at $750^{\circ}C$ for 2.5 h. Based on microstructural examination, tempered martensite and lower bainite were formed in first layer of weld metal. The amount of tempered martensite was decreased and the amount of lower bainite was increased with increasing heat input and layer. Heat affected zone of alloy steel showed the highest hardness due to the formation of tempered Martensite and lower Bainite. Tensile strengths of dissimilar welds decreased with increasing heat inputs. Dissimilar welds seemed to have a good hot cracking resistance due to the low HCS index below 4. The salt spray test of dissimilar metals showed that the corrosion rate increased with increasing heat inputs due to the increase of the amount of lower Bainite.

T형상용접 이음에서 매몰된 라멜라균열이 용접부의 기계적 강도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the buried lamellar tears on the mechanical strength in the welded T joints)

  • The mechanical strengths of buried lamellar tears located near the weld toe in the welded tee joints were evaluated in terms of the loss of load carrying capacity as a function of tear area. In static loading, the load carrying capacity was significantly reduced when tear intercepted over 10% of the cross-sectional area of the welded joints. However, the welded joints containing buried tears still failed at stresses over the yield strength of the base metal in the through-thickness direction in spite of the presence of tears up to 20-25% of the area. Fatigue strength of welded joints containing tears markedly reduced with increasing tear areas. Lehigh lamellar tearing test used in this study to produce speicmens was described in detail. The load carrying cpapacity in static loading was influenced by the reduction of supporting area whereas that in fatigue loading was influenced by the stress-concentration effects of lamellar tears and the reduction of supporting area. In bend tests, the pre-existing lamellar tears always grew up toward the weld toe. However, in fatigue loading, cracks grew up and down simultaneously form both the weld toe and the top of lamellar tears because of stress concentration. In fatigue loading, delaminations and decohesion of inclusion/matrix interface generated in multipass welds provided crack propagation paths and enhanced crack propagation because the tips of delaminations and deconhesios acted as stress raisers.

HSLA-100강 및 HY-100강의 응력제거처리 균열에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stress Relief Cracking of HSLA-100 and HY-100 steels)

  • A study was made to examine the characteristics of base metal and stress relief cracking(SRC) of heat affected zone(HAZ) for HY-100 and Cu-bearing HSLA-100 steels. The Gleeble thermal/mechanical simulator was used to simulate the SRC/HAZ. The details of mechanical properties of base plate and SRC tested specimens were studied by impact test, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The specimens were aged at $650^{\circ}C$ for HSLA-100 steel and at $660^{\circ}C$ for HY-100 steel and thermal cycled from $1350^{\circ}C$ to $25^{\circ}C$ with a cooling time of $\Delta$t_${800^{circ}C/500^{circ}C}$=21sec. corresponds to the heat input of 30kJ/cm. The thermal cycled specimens were stressed to a predetermined level of 248~600MPa and then reheated to the stress relief temperatures of $570~620^{\circ}C$. The time to failure$(t_f)$ at a given stress level was used as a measure of SRC susceptibility. The strength, elongation and impact toughness of base plate were greater in HSLA-100 steel than in HY-100 steel. The time to failure was decreased with increasing temperature and/or stress. HSLA-100 steel was more susceptible to stress relief cracking than HY-100 steel under same conditions. It is thought to be resulted from the precipitation of $\varepsilon$-Cu phase by dynamic self diffusion of solute atoms. By the precipitation of $\varepsilon$-Cu phase, the differential strengthening of grain interior relative to grain boundary may be greater in the Cu-bearing HSLA-100 steel than in HY-100 steel. Therefore, greater strain concentration at grain boundary of HSLA-100 steel results in the increased SRC susceptibility. The activation energies for SRC of HSLA-100 steel are 103.9kcal/mal for 387MPa and 87.6kcal/mol for 437MPa and that of HY-100 steel is 129.2kcal/mol for 437MPa.

스테인레스강 Overlay 용접부의 Disbonding 에 관한 연구(2) - 오스테나이트계 스테인레스강 오버레이 용접금속의 PWHT에 관한 야금학적 고찰 - (Study on the Disbonding of Stainless Steel Overlay Welded Metal(Report 2) - A Metallurgical Study on PWHT of Overlaid Austenitic Stainless Steel Weld Metals -)

  • Overlaid weld metals of austenitic stainless steel in a pressure vessel of power reactor are usually post-weld heated for a long period of time after welding. The PWHT is considered as a kind of sensitizing and it is important to check the soundness of the weld metal after PWHT, especially about the precipitation of carbides. The purpose of this report is to obtain information on the relation between the change of microstructure and Post-Weld Heat Treatment in the overlaid weld metals. Metallurgical aspects of the problem on austenitic stainless steel heated at $625^{\circ}C$, $670^{\circ}C$, $720^{\circ}C$ and $760^{\circ}C$ for 3, 10, 30, 100 and 300 hours have been investigated by means of optical-micrography, micro-hardness measurement, scanning electron microscope and electron-probe micro analysis. From the results obtained, the following conclusions are drawn; 1) The PWHT above $625^{\circ}C$ for a long time causes a diffusion of carbon atoms from low alloy steel into stainless steel, and consequently carbon is highly concentrated at the boundary layer of stainless steel. 2) C in ferritic steel migrated to austenitic steel and carbides precipitated in austenitic steel along fusion line. At higher temperatures, the ferrite grains coarsened in the decarburized zone. 3) In the change of microstructure of stainless steel overlaid weld metal, the width of carbides precipitated zone and decarburized zone increased with increase of PWHT temperature and time. 4) At about $625^{\circ}C$ to $760^{\circ}C$, chromium carbides, mainly $M_{23} C_6$, precipitate very closely in the carburized layer with remarkable hardening. 5) Precipitation of delta ferrite from molten weld metal depends on solidification phenomenon. There was a small of ferrite near the bond in which the local solidification time was short, comparing with after parts of weld metal. Shape and amount of ferrite were not changed by Post-Weld Heat Treatment after solidification.

Based on microstructural examination, Intragranular polygonal ferrite and grainboundary ferrite were formed only in first layer of weld metal. Another layers consisted of acicular ferrite and $Widmannst{\ddot{a}}tten$ ferrite. The amount of acicular ferrite was increased with decreasing heat input and layer. Heat affected zone of alloy steel showed the highest hardness due to the formation of tempered martensite and lower bainite. Lower and upper bainite were formed in heat affected zone of carbon steel. Tensile strengths of dissimilar metal welds decreased with increasing heat inputs. Dissimilar metal welds showed a good hot cracking resistance due to the low HCS index below 4. The salt spray test of dissimilar metals welds showed that the weight loss rate by corrosion below 170 hours was decreased with increasing heat inputs due to the increase of the amount of acicular ferrite.

780 MPa급 TRIP강의 저항 점용접부 강도 및 파단에 미치는 Paint Baking의 영향 (Effect of Paint Baking on the Strength and Failure of Spot Welds for 780 TRIP Steels)

  • Conventional fracture test of resistance spot weld had been performed without consideration of paint baking process in automobile manufacturing line. This study was aim to investigate the effect of paint baking on fracture mode and load carrying capacity in fracture test for resistance spot welded 780TRIP steels. With paint baking cycle after resistance spot welds, peel tests and microhardness were conducted on the as-welded and baked samples. Resistance spot welds in AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steels) are prone to display partial interfacial fractures during fracture test or vehicle crash. Baking cycle increased the load-carrying capacity of the resistance spot welded samples and improved the fracture appearance from partial to full button fracture for the L-type peel tests. Specially, the differences in fracture appearance are apparent when the nugget size of spot welds is small enough to produce the partial interfacial fracture. The comparison of macrohardness and microstructure between as-welded and baked samples showed that there are no large difference in change the fracture mode. However, the results of the instrumented indentation test suggested that fusion zone and HAZ of baked sample have less tensile and yield strength and proves that the tempering effects are applied and enhanced the resistance to fracture on welds with application of baking cycle.

Grade 91 강의 고온 균열진전 실험 결과와 설계 물성치의 비교 (Comparison of Crack Growth Test Results at Elevated Temperature and Design Code Material Properties for Grade 91 Steel)

  • 본 연구에서는 피로 하중 및 크리프 하중을 받는 Mod.9Cr-1Mo (ASME Grade 91)강 시편에 대한 일련의 실험결과로부터 재료물성치인 고온 균열진전 모델을 개발하였다. 이 균열진전 모델은 크리프-피로하중을 받는 균열체의 결함평가에 사용되는 물성치이다. 한국원자력연구원이 수행한 일련의 피로 균열진전(FCG) 속도 실험 및 크리프 균열진전(CCG) 속도 실험 결과로부터 균열진전 모델을 결정하고, 이를 프랑스의 고온 설계 기술기준인 RCC-MRx 와 비교함으로써 설계 물성치의 보수성에 대해 검토하였다. RCC-MRx 는 FCG 모델 및 CCG 모델을 Section III Tome 6 에서 제공하고 있는데, 실험으로부터 결정한 균열진전 모델과 비교한 결과 RCC-MRx 의 FCG 모델은 보수적인 것으로 나타난 반면 CCG 모델은 비보수적인 것으로 나타나 동 물성치에 대한 검증이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 본 연구에서는 기계적 강도 및 크리프 시험결과에 대해서도 RCC-MRx 의 물성치와 비교 및 분석하였다.
