차체구조용 SCPI 강도부재의 점용접간격이 압궤특성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Spot Weld Pitches on Collapse Characteristics of SCPI Vehicle Members)

  • Front-side members are structures with the greatest energy absorbing capability in a front-end collision of vehicles. This paper was performed to analyze initial collapse characteristics of spot welded hat and double hat-shaped section members, which are basic shape of side members, on the shift of flange weld pitches. The impact collapse tests were carried out by using home-made vertical air compression impact testing machine, and impact velocity of hat-shaped section members is 4.17m/sec and that of double hat-shaped section members is 6.54m/sec. In impact collapse tests, the collapsed length of hat-shaped section members was about 45mm and that of double hat-shaped section members was about 50mm. In consideration of these condition, axial static collapse tests(0.00017m/sec) of hat and double hat-shaped section members were carried out by using UTM which was limited displacement, about 50mm. As the experimental results, to obtain the best initial collapse characteristics, it is important that stiffness of vehicle members increases as section shapes change and the progressively folding mode induces by flange welding pitch.

내열강 용접부의 파괴강도 평가를 위한 Advanced Small Punch 시험에 관한 연구 (A Study on Advanced Small Punch Test for Evaluation of Fracture Strength in Heat Resisting Stell Weldment)

  • In order to evaluate the proper fracture strength of microstructures in a steel weldment, smaller size loading ball than used for a conventional small punch(CSP) testing is required due to regional limitation on constitutive structures. In this study, the minimized loading ball(φ 1.5mm) and bore diameter of lower die(φ 3mm) were designed for an advanced small punch(ASP) test. The results obtained from the ASP test were compared with those from a CSP testing for a X20CrMoV121 steel weldment. It was found that the ASP test clearly showed the microstructural dependance on fracture strength and ductile-brittle transition behavior of the weldment. In the ASP test, especially, the cracks tend to initiate for various directions within hemispherical indentation region of an objective structure in SP test. This indicates that the evaluation of more proper fracture strength for F.L+CGHAZ, FGHAZ and ICHAZ can be performed by means of the ASP test in a steel weldment.

선급용 고강도 극후물재의 취성파괴 정지 성능에 관한 연구 (Brittle Crack Arrestability of Thick Steel Plates for Shipbuilding)

  • In recent time there is vigorous requirement for the use of thick steel plate in various industrial fields including shipbuilding industry. Especially, with the continual increases in marine transportation volumes on a global scale, the steel of container ships has become thicker and thicker with the increased size of ships. In addition, the brittle crack arrestability of heavy thick plates was big issue, in recently. In this study, crack arrest test were conducted in order to investigate the crack arrestability of thick plates for shipbuilding steels, where test plate thicknesses were 50mm and 80mm. This paper introduces the brittle crack arrestability of heavy thick plates with thickness effect for shipbuilding.

  • Diamond 공구용 Co-0.5C-(15∼20)Cr-20Ni-8W-(2∼7)Fe 합금 결합제를 볼밍링(ball-milling)법과 기계적 합금화(mechanical alloying) 법으로 합성하였다. stearic acid의 첨가 유무에 상관없이 Co-0.5C-(15∼20)Cr-20Ni-8W-(2∼7)Fe 합금의 경우 6시간 동안 합금화된 금속 분말에서 미세 접합(micro welding) 형상이 균일하게 관찰되었다. stearic acid를 첨가하지 않을 때는 부분적으로 조대화된 분말이 형성되었으나 2% 첨가한 경우 미세하고 판상의 분말이 얻어졌다. stearic acid가 첨가된 복합분말을 열간 압축하여 기계적 성질을 평가한 결과 굽힘강도 1100MPa, 경도 46H(sub)Rc의 특성을 나타냈다.

  • Recent trends in the construction of building frame feature the use of composite steel concrete members. One of such system, RCS(Reinforced Concrete column and Steel beam) system, is known as a type of system to maximize the structural and economic benefits in the most efficient manner. This paper is focusing on an study of ultimate shear strength estimation of the interior beam-column joints of RCS system, with reinforced concrete column and steel beam. Current design methods as well as the majority of the previous researches for ultimate shear strength of the interior beam-column joint of RCS system are not easy to apply actual manner. There is a need to propose the rational macro models based on analytical approach. In this study, design method variables for interior beam-column joints of RCS system is studied assuming shear resistance of steel web panel, diagonal concrete strut mechanism and truss mechanism. Finally, calculated results based on the proposed design model are compared with test data.

  • Stainless steel sheets are commonly used for vehicles such as the bus and the train. These are mainly fabricated by spot-welding. By the way, its fatigue strength is lower than base metal due to high stress concentration at the nugget. edge of the spot-welding. Especially, it is influenced by welding conditions as well as geometrical factors of spot welded joint. Therefore, it is not too much to say that structural rigidity and strength of spot-welded structures is decided by fatigue strength of spot welded lap joint. Thus, it is necessary to establish a reasonable and systematic long life design criterion for the spot-welded structure. In this study, numerical stress analysis was performed by using 3-dimensional finite element model on IB-type spot-welded lap joint of 304 stainless steel sheet under tension-shear load. Fatigue tests were also conducted on them having various thickness, joint angle, lapped length, and width of the plate. From the results, it was found that fatigue strength of IB-type spot-welded lap joints was influenced by its geometrical factors, however, could be systematically rearranged by maximum principal stress ({TEX}$σ_{1max}${/TEX}) at the nugget edge of the spot-welding point.

  • The weld quality of end cap welds in Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Fuel is extremely important for the fuel performance in the nuclear reactor. The quality of resistance upset welds is currently evaluated mainly by the metallographic examination although it reveals only two weld cross-sections in a circumference welds. This investigation was, firstly, carried out to determine whether the ultrasonic examination would be applied to detect weld defects in the end cap welds and, secondly, to measure the mechanical strength of upset butt welds as a function of phase shift percentage. The major results obtained in this study are as follows: 1. The weld current and amount of upset shrinkage linearly increased with increasing the phase shift percentage. 2. Above the phase shift 55%, the defects in the welds were completely eliminated with increasing the phase of sound weld was over the thickness of cladding tube. 3. The ultrasonic testing well detected such defects in the end cap welds as upset external crack, upset split, corner crack and irregular weld flash comparing with the results of metallography. 4. The micro-fissure in the corner of the end cap welds was reliably detected by ultrasonic testing. 5. The mechanical strength in the welds increased with increasing phase shift percentage but the fracture did't occur in the welds above 55%.

  • 570MPa grade weldable steels were gas metal arc welded with various heat inputs and interpass temperatures using flux cored wires. Effects of heat input and interpass temperature on the strength and impact toughness of weld metal were investigated in terms of microstructural change, recovery of alloying elements, and the amount of reheated weld metal. Increase of heat input and interpass temperature resulted in decrease of weld metal strength. This is because of the small amount of acicular ferrite, large columnar size and low recovery of alloying elements such as manganese and silicon. In addition to the microstructural change, weld metal toughness was also influenced by the deposition sequence. It increased with an increase of the amount of reheated weld metal.
