  • As time passes, bridge structures require extension work on bridge in use from various effects such as social economical, or traffic environment change. When the concrete is poured at the connection of extension work initial curing concrete is influenced by vibration of vehicles that are passing through the old bridge superstructure. Concrete at early curing stage in construction site should be properly protected, enough to have established sufficient integrity to withstand outside vibration, impact etc. Currently there is no standard specification or regulation in our country. In this paper, experimental variables were divided by vibration velocity and time of loading, and concrete compressive strength and bond strength were measured.

  • In this paper, cyclic loading test was performed to evaluate the seismic performance of the steel coupling beam and RC shear wall. The test parameter was reinforcement detail of the shear wall. For the shear wall which was designed in accordance with the current design codes, a premature bearing failure occurred at the face of the wall. On the other hand, the bearing failure of walls was prevented due to the new type of reinforcement details. Test results indicated that the vertical reinforcements were more affected to the shear strength of the coupled shear wall than the horizontal reinforcement. Based on the failure mode, concrete stress distribution above and below flanges of the embedded steel beam was proposed. Assuming proposed concrete stress distribution, load resistance was predicted and it was agree well with test data.

  • Four types of repair procedures are applied to the fatigue cracked crane runway gilders, which are stop-holes as crack arrester stop-holes reinforced with high strength bolts, welding repair and reinforcement with high strength bolted splices. The fatgiue cracks are reinitiated at the region where stop-holes and weld repairments are applied, while none of the cracks are observed in the cases of stop-holes reinforcement and reinforcement with high strength bolted splices. When using stop-holes and hole-reinforcement all repaired regions show a same fatigue strength to the one before the repairments. The experiments also reveal that the proper weldment is an essential factor when applying the welding repairement as a properly welding produces the same level of fatigue strength after the repairement. When the situation permits to use reinforcement with high strength boilted splices, the experiments shows the repairment is the best possible method among the procedures available.

  • Recently, modular system are popular in construction fields, and they are increasing their marcket share. To compare modular units, bolting and welding are most popular methods. However, the temperature around a welded part might be over than 1,300$^{\circ}C and the composite member might be exposed tp the direct welding heat about 20,000$^{\circ}C. This high welding heat makes decrease of the concrete strength. If the concrete strength seriously decreases, it can affect the behavior and safty of a structure. On this study, To prevent of concrete strength decreases by welding heat, we suggested method of to insert between steel and concrete.

  • Carbon fiber sheet(CFS) has been widely used for strengthening of the concrete building structures due to its excellent physical properties such as high strength, light weight and high durability. Bond strength or behavior, on the other hands, between carbon fiber sheet and concrete is very important in strengthening the concrete member using CFS. Therefore the bond failure mechanism between CFS and concrete should be fully verified and understood. This study is to investigate the bond strength of CFS to the concrete by the direct pull-out test and the tensile-shear test. In the direct pull-out tests, the bond strength under the various environmental conditions such as curing temperature, surface condition on concrete and water content of concrete are evaluated. Also, the effective bond length, lu and the average bond stress, $\tau$y are examined in the tensile-shear tests. Based on the test results, it is concluded that the curing temperature is the most critical element for the bond strength between CFS and concrete. And, the proper value of lu and $\tau$y is recommended with 15 cm and 9.78∼ 11.88 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ respectively.

  • Post-installed anchor is a structural material that connects structural and non-structural members to existing concrete members. However, there are cases where rebar interception and construction error occur at the site. In that case, measures are needed to prevent performance degradation of the rear-installation anchors. In this study, in order to evaluate the performance of torsional control expandable post-installed anchors for compressive strength and effective depth of the reference concrete was tested. The results of the most commonly used tests of M10 and M20 showed that had variable coefficients within 15%, satisfying the reliability presented in KCI(2017). It was also confirmed that the depth of the buried and the strength of concrete affect the strength of the pavement. Based on the results of the existing similar studies and the results of this study, the design equation of the post-installed anchor was proposed and the results were compared with the existing design.

  • Pitch pine (Pinus rigida Miller) retaining walls using Steel bar, of which the constructability and strength performance are good at the construction site, were manufactured and their strength properties were evaluated. The wooden retaining wall using Steel bar was piled into four stories stretcher and three stories header, which is 770 mm high, 2,890 mm length and 782 mm width. Retaining wall was made by inserting stretchers into Steel bar after making 18 mm diameter of holes at top and bottom stretcher, and then stacking other stretchers and headers which have a slit of 66 mm depth and 18 mm width. The strength properties of retaining walls were investigated by horizontal loading test, and the deformation of structure by image processing (AlCON 3D OPA-PRO system). Joint (Type-A) made with a single long stretcher and two headers, and joint (Type-B) made with two short stretchers connected with half lap joint and two headers were in the retaining wall using Steel bar. The compressive shear strength of joint was tested. Three replicates were used in each test. In horizontal loading test the strength was 1.6 times stronger in wooden retaining wall using Steel bar than in wooden retaining wall using square timber. The timber and joints were not fractured in the test. When testing compressive shear strength, the maximum load of type-A and Type-B was 130.13 kN and 130.6 kN, respectively. Constructability and strength were better in the wooden retaining wall using Steel bar than in wooden retaining wall using square timber.

  • With difficulties during the cleaning of reflow flux residues due to the decrease of the part size and interconnection pitch in the advanced electronic devices, the need for the no-clean solder paste is increasing. In this study, an epoxy curable solder paste was made with SAC305 solder powder and the curable flux of which the main ingredient is epoxy resin and its reflow solderability, flux residue corrosivity and solder joint mechanical properties was investigated with comparison to the commercial rosin type solder paste. The fillet shape of the cured product around the reflowed solder joint revealed that the curing reaction occurred following the fluxing reaction and solder joint formation. The copper plate solderability test result also revealed that the wettability of the epoxy curable solder paste was comparable to those of the commercial rosin type solder pastes. In the highly accelerated temperature and humidity test, the cured product residue of the curable solder paste showed no corrosion of copper plate. From FT-IR analysis, it was considered to be resulted from the formation of tight bond through epoxy curing reaction. Ball shear, ball pull and die shear tests revealed that the adhesive bonding was formed with the solder surface and the increase of die shear strength of about 15~40% was achieved. It was considered that the epoxy curable solder paste could contribute to the improvement of the package reliability as well as the removal of the flux residue cleaning process.

  • The most common structural system for apartment buildings in Korea is adopted to combine structural systems: for example, a moment-resisting frame will be used for lower stories and bearing wall system for the upper stories. This type of buildings have soft and/or weak stories in lower stories, and it may lead to collapse of those buildings during the large earthquake. Reversed cyclic load tests were conducted to estimate the performance and behavioral characteristics of deep beam and exterior column Joints. Experimental parameter is the amount of transverse reinforcement (designed by ACI code and Sheikh's procedure). The results of this study are as follows: (1) The required transverse reinforcement of column designed by Sheikh's procedure requires 2.9 times larger than that designed by ACI procedure. Large amount of transverse reinforcement increase the ductility of the column. (2) Most of the lateral drift in the column is due to the flexural deformation in the joint and plastic hinge region and up-lift rotation. (3) Transverse reinforcement in the exterior column shall be required not only in the hinge region but also in the joint.

  • The end plate connection is applied to beam-column moment connections in various forms. Such end plate connection displays changes in the behavioral characteristics, strength and stiffness, and energy dissipation capacity based on the thickness and length of the end plate, the number and diameter of the high strength bolt, the gauge distance of the high strength bolt, prying action force of the high strength bolt, and dimensions and length of the welds. Accordingly, this study has apprehended the axial tensile stiffness and prying action force of the high strength bolt connected on the tensile side based on the difference in thickness of the end plate, and was conducted to propose an analysis model for the prediction of such variables that affect the operating properties of the end plate. To achieve this, this study has conducted a three-dimensional non-linear finite-element analysis of the unstiffened expanding end plate connection by selecting only the thickness of the end plate as the variable.
