In this paper, we propose a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) based incremental robust adaptation with a forgetting factor for the speaker verification. Speaker recognition system uses a speaker model adaptation method with small amounts of data in order to obtain a good performance. However, a conventional adaptation method has vulnerable to the outlier from the irregular utterance variations and the presence noise, which results in inaccurate speaker model. As time goes by, a rate in which new data are adapted to a model is reduced. The proposed algorithm uses an incremental robust adaptation in order to reduce effect of outlier and use forgetting factor in order to maintain adaptive rate of new data on GMM based speaker model. The incremental robust adaptation uses a method which registers small amount of data in a speaker recognition model and adapts a model to new data to be tested. Experimental results from the data set gathered over seven months show that the proposed algorithm is robust against outliers and maintains adaptive rate of new data.
Progressive photon mapping is a widely adopted rendering technique that conducts a kernel-density estimation on photons progressively generated from lights. Its hyperparameter, which controls the reduction rate of the density estimation, highly affects the quality of its rendering image due to the bias-variance tradeoff of pixel estimates in photon-mapped results. We can minimize the errors of rendered pixel estimates in progressive photon mapping by estimating the optimal parameters based on gradient-based optimization techniques. To this end, we derived the gradients of pixel estimates with respect to the parameters when performing progressive photon mapping and compared our estimated gradients with finite differences to verify estimated gradients. The gradient estimated in this paper can be applied in an online learning algorithm that simultaneously performs progressive photon mapping and parameter optimization in future work.

Since multimedia data such as video and audio data are displayed within a certain time constraint, their computation and manipulation should be handled under limited condition. Traditional real-time scheduling algorithms could not be directly applicable, because they are not suitable for multimedia scheduling applications which support many clients at the same time. Rate Regulating Proportional Share Scheduling Algorithm is a scheduling algorithm considered the time constraint of the multimedia data. This scheduling algorithm uses a rate regulator which prevents tasks from receiving more resource than its share in a given period. But this algorithm loses fairness, and does not show graceful degradation of performance under overloaded situation. This paper proposes a new modified algorithm, namely Modified Proportional Share Scheduling Algorithm considering the characteristics of multimedia data such as its continuity and time dependency. Proposed scheduling algorithm shows graceful degradation of performance in overloaded situation and the reduction in the number of context switching. Furthermore, a new evaluation method is proposed which can evaluate the flexibility of scheduling algorithm.

A new splicing technique by the secondary moment which is intentionally induced by the tensioning effect of continuous tendons and the releasing effect of temporary beam tendons was developed. The tensioning and releasing works are essential and the decisions of the magnitude and order about them may be important engineering problems in this technique. In this paper, it was studied lot the practically optimum procedure of the tensioning and releasing works. As the result, it is concluded that the gradual progress through the three stages is reasonable for the procedure and the tensioning work have to precede the releasing work. Additionally, the magnitude of preceding tensioning force should be obtained by the sensitivity analysis and the minimum limit is more critical than the minimum limit.
Due to advances in position monitoring technologies such as global positioning systems and sensor networks, recent position information of moving objects has the form of streaming data which are updated continuously and rapidly. In this paper we propose an efficient trajectory maintenance method that stores the streaming position data of moving objects in the limited size of storage space and estimates past positions based on the stored data. For this, we first propose a new concept of incremental extraction of position information. The incremental extraction means that, whenever a new position is added into the system, we incrementally re-compute the new version of past position data maintained in the system using the current version of past position data and the newly added position. Next, based on the incremental extraction, we present an overall framework that stores position information and estimates past positions in the stream environment. We then propose two polynomial-based methods, line-based and curve-based methods, as the method of estimating the past positions on the framework. We also propose three incremental extraction methods: equi-width, slope-based, and recent-emphasis extraction methods. Experimental results show that the proposed incremental extraction provides the relatively high accuracy (error rate is less than 3%) even though we maintain only a little portion (only 0.1%) of past position information. In particular, the curve-based incremental extraction provides very low error rate of 1.5% even storing 0.1% of total position data. These results indicate that our incremental extraction methods provide an efficient framework for storing the position information of moving objects and estimating the past positions in the stream environment.
The modal analyses on the phenocryst phases and the normative mineralogies from the bulk chemical analyses record that the volcanic rocks related to the Yangsan caldera might been derived from compositionally zoned magma. The volcanic rocks show linearly continuous mineralogical gradients, not only totally in the relations between $SiO_2$ and proportion of phenocryst content, but also within each rock unit in the relations between total phenocryst content and the proportion, Q-Ab-Or and Q-An(Ab-Or) diagrams. The roughly gradational modal variations of the phenocryst phases are shown upward within each rock unit. However, the contents and proportion of the phenocrysts in the Yangsan Tuff and the Hwajeri Formation represent the zigzaggedly undulatory variations. The continuous mineralogical gradients without large gaps define a large zoned magma system in the pre-eruptive, later precollapse and postcollapse magma chambers respectively. The zigzagged variations reflect the intermittent eruptive pulses representing any time gaps.
