Design of The Loudness Ratings And Talker Echo For ISDN Telephone (ISDN 전화기의 음량 정격 및 송화자 에코설계)

  • It is the purpose of this paper to describe the methods for establishing loudness ratings and talker echo out of transmission quality of ISDN telephone connected to fully digital network. In order to design the desirable loudness ratings and talker echo for ISDN telephone, the model system of digital speech communication for subjective tests is developed. Using this model system, opinion tests which decide the optimal CODEC input level, the range of overall loudness rating, sidetone masking rating and talker echo are performed. From the results of tests, we decided that the loudness ratings are 6 to 8dB for sending, 0 to 2dB for receiving, and 8 to 12dB for sidetone masking rating. And, the terminal coupling loss of TCLw of at least 40dB is necessary to provide echo-free telephone communications to telophone users when the overall loudness rating of ISDN telephone is normalized to 10dB.

  • Conjoint analysis is employed to decompose the consumer's preference judgements into the importance of attributes, and to predict the degree of preference for each profile of the products, services, or ideas. It has been widely used in industrial marketing, particularly in the areas of product positioning and new product development. This paper is mainly concerned with the conjoint analysis based on the Chebyshev estimation since the efficiency of the least squares estimator is lower than that of the Chebyshev estimator when the preferences are measured as the rank-order. A case study is performed on the preference for cellular phones. And it is shown that conjoint analysis based on the Chebyshev estimation is superior, in terms of the predictive validity, to one which is based on the least squares estimation.

Novel RF front-end circuit for CDMA based PCS phone (CDMA방식의 PCS 전화기를 위한 새로운 방식의 고주파 전위회로에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the design and implementation of the novel RF front end circuit for CDMA based PCS phone is described. This novel scheme is realized by building the power amplifier module combined with duplexer. The dielectric filters which are parts of duplexer are broken up and relocated into the module. Electromagnetic analysis for via holes and coupling between narrow transmissio lines is icluded to design a circuit. The combined moule has been minimaturized to be as small as 1.5CC. It has satisfied IS-95 requirements for linearity performances of CDMA signal at 24-dBm output power as well as played apart as a duplexer. The operating current of about 95mA has been saved owing to both rearranging dielectric filters and limiting operating point to class-B by considering real working power range of CDMA phones.

SAR in a Human Head Depending on the Arrangement of Antenna of Mobile Phone (이동통신단말기 안테나 배치에 따른 두부의 전자파 흡수율)

  • Presently, the retractable phone with a whip antenna composed of a helix and a monopole is most widely used for cellular mobile communications. However, since the length of the monopole is usually about λ/4, the strong radiated electric fields are produced in the region where the auricle of a head is contacted directly. This field distribution results in high specific absorption rates(SAR's) in the head. In this paper, SAR distributions and local SAR values for the inversely shaped phone(ISP) whose antenna arrangement is opposite to the original retractable phone(ORP) are compared with those for the ORP. This phone is accomplished by mounting the $\lambda$/4-whip antenna on the bottom, not on the top of the handset. The time-averaged field distribution in a computational space including a human model and a phone model is computed using the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. SAR distributions and local SAR values for these phones are calculated with the field distributions. An anatomical head model and an approximate hand model were used to consider a real situation. From the analyzed data, it is shown that this arrangement of the antenna considerably reduces the spatial peak SAR in a human head.

  • As a result of analyzing the fire accident of the Jecheon complex that occurred at the end of 2017, there have been many casualties due to delays in checking the location information of isolated people. In order to prevent such an accident, various research has been conducted to estimate the location of requesters by means of detecting wireless communication information of mobile phones existing at disaster sites. The main concept is to detect an RF signal of a mobile phone at fire sites and, based on this, precisely estimate the location of the mobile phone on the LOS/NLOS. However, it is difficult to get visibility at fire sites due to smoke and the fire. Therefore, apart from estimating the location of requesters, a research is also needed to determine the direction of entry within fire sites. In this paper, we propose a method to determine a direction of entry to provide effective rescue activities using wireless communication information of mobile phones.

  • In the event of a fire in a complex, the identification of isolated people's location information is delayed, resulting in many casualties. In order to prevent such an accident, research on estimating the location of the requesters by detecting the wireless signal of the mobile phone at fire sites is in progress. The main concept is to use a wireless signal scanner to detect the wireless signal of a mobile phones at fire sites, and then position the mobile phone based on this. However, it is difficult to secure visibility at the fire site due to the smoke, and there is a difficulty in rescuing requesters in need compared with general disaster sites. Therefore, it will be one of the important issues to be solved to determine the minimum number of rescuers to be deployed according to the number and condition of the requesters. In this study, we propose a method to calculate the number of rescuers put to fire sites by using the radio signal generated from mobile phones and the information generated from the inertial sensor of the mobile phones.

A Study on UX-centered Smart Office Phone Design Development Process Using Service Design Process (서비스디자인 프로세스를 활용한 UX중심 오피스 전화기 디자인개발 프로세스 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a "user experience (UX)-centered product development process" so that the product design development process using the service design process can be systematized and used in practice. In a situation in which usability research on office phones is lacking compared to general home phones, this study expands to a product-based service design point of view rather than simple product development, intending to research ways to provide user experience value through office phone design in smart office. This study focused on extracting UX-centered user needs using the service design process and developing product design that realizes user experience value. In particular, the service design process was applied to systematically extract user needs and experience value elements in the product development process and to discover ideas that were converged with product-based services. For this purpose, the "Double Diamond Design Process Model," which is widely used in the service design field, was adopted. In addition, a product design development process was established so that usability improvement plans, user experience value elements, and product-service connected ideas could be extracted through a work-flow in which real users and people from various fields participate. Based on the double diamond design process, in the "Discover" information collection stage, design trends were identified mainly in the office phone markets. In the "Define" analysis and extraction stage, user needs were analyzed through user observation, interview, and usability survey, and design requirements and user experience issues were extracted. Persona was set through user type analysis, and user scenarios were presented. In the "Develop" development stage, ideation workshops and concept renderings were conducted to embody the design, and people from various fields within the company participated to set the design direction reflecting design preference and usability improvement plans. In the "Deliver" improvement/prototype development/evaluation stage, a working mock-up of a design prototype was produced and design and usability evaluation were conducted through consultation with external design experts. It is meaningful that it established a "UX-centered product development process" model that converged with the existing product design development process and service design process. Ultimately, service design-based product design development process was presented so that I Corp.'s products could realize user experience value through service convergence.

Amplification and Howling Suppression of Telephonic Speech for the Hearing-Impaired Person (난청인을 위한 전화기 음성증폭 및 하울링 억제)

  • To provide sufficient sound to the hearing-impaired person(HIP) who have many difficulty in communication with others using general telephone, big amplification is needed. But big amplification can occur howling as a side effect. In this study we developed the new technique of big amplification without howling, manufactured and estimated the new hearing aid telephone. Telephone speech is divided to three frequency band, amplified respectively and fitted to HIP's hearing ability. The telephone speech frequency is monitored by counter in time domain. The counter transfers the sinusoidal sound to rectangular wave using comparator and counts the number of rectangular wave in a certain time period, that is frequency, to monitor the howling. Telephone have microphone and speaker, which are fitted in a rigid structure and frequency band of telephone sound is limited, so howling occurs in the limited frequency band. If the counter notices that howling conditions happen, microprocessor decreases quickly the gain of the related frequency band. The result of test of our new hearing aid telephone showed that we can amplifiy the sound as much as 40dB, which is meaningful level to many HIP, and make HIP increase their perception ability from 20% to 60.8% in 1 syllable test and from 28.9% to 78% in 2 syllable test.

  • 본 논문에서는 PSTN망을 사용하는 일반전화기 사용자와 인터넷 전화 등이 접근할 수 있는 다이얼로그서버를 구현한다. 개발되는 다이얼로그서버는 VoiceXML로 작성된 서비스 컨텐츠를 사용하고, 이를 HTTP를 통하여 가져오며, DTMF 등의 사용자 입력을 받아서 미리 저장된 음성 데이터나 TTS 컴포넌트 등을 통한 음성정보 서비스를 제공한다.
