Effect of Mixing Ratio of Active Material on the Wettability in Lithium-Ion Battery Using Lattice Boltzmann Method (격자 볼츠만법을 이용한 리튬이온전지의 활물질 혼합비에 대한 함침성의 영향)

  • The electrolyte wetting phenomena occurring in the electrode of lithium-ion battery was studied using lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). Recently, lithium-ion batteries are being mixed with small particles on the active material to increase the capacity and energy density during the electrode design stage. The change to the mixing ratio may influence the wettability of electrolyte. In this study, the changes in electrolyte distribution and saturation were investigated according to various mixing ratios of active material. We found that the variations in mixing ratio of active material affect the wetting mechanism, and result in changes to the wetting speed and wettability of electrolyte.

Analysis of the grain boundary precipitates in stainless steel by potentiostatic etching dissolution method (정전위 전해에칭법에 의한 스테인레스 강의 입계 석출물 분석)

  • The potentiostatic etching dissolution method, which had been used for the quantification of precipitates in steel, was applied to investigate the origin of cracks occurred in 304 stainless steel during processing. The morphology of crack propagation was observed by SEM. EDS and EPMA were used for the analysis of chemical composition of large precipitates on the grain boundary. The crystal structure of these large precipitates was determined by X-ray diffraction and electron diffraction. In both a stainless steel plate and a wire, the crack propagated along the grain boundary. Large precipitates on the grain boundary were identified to be $M_2C$ and $M_{23}C_6$. Potentiostatic etching dissolution method was found to be appropriate to the sample preparation for the analysis of precipitates in stainless steel.

  • The room-temperature electrodeposition of metallic lithium was investigated from ionic liquid, 1-methyl-1-propylpiperidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (PP13TFSI) with lithium bis (trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) as a lithium source. Cyclic voltammograms on gold working electrode showed the possibility of the electrodeposition of metallic lithium, and the reduction current on a gold electrode was higher than the value on platinum and copper. The metallic lithium could be electrodeposited on the gold electrode under potentiostatic condition at -2.4 V (vs. Pt-QRE) and was confirmed by analytical techniques including XRD and SEM-EDS. The dendrite-typed electrodeposits were composed of a metallic lithium and a alloy with gold substrate. And any impurity could be detected except for trace oxygen introduced during handling for the analyses.

  • In the pyroprocessing of spent nuclear fuels, fuel materials are recovered by electrochemical reactions on the surface of electrodes as well as stirring the electrolyte in electrolytic cells such as electrorefiner, electroreducer and electrowinner. The system with this equipment should first be scaled-up in order to commercialize the pyroprocessing. So in this study, the scale-up for those electrolytic cells was studied to design a large-scale system which can be employed in a commercial process in the future. Basically the dimensions of both electrolytic cells and electrodes should be enlarged on the basis of the geometrical similarity. Then the criterion of constant power input per unit volume, characterizing the fluid behavior in the cells, was introduced in this study and a calculation process based on trial-and-error methode was derived, which makes it possible to seek a proper speed of agitation in the electrolytic cells. Consequently examples of scale-up for an arbitrary small scale system were shown when the criterion of constant power input per unit volume and another criterion of constant impeller tip speed were respectively applied.

  • 본 연구에서는 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 내식성을 향상시키기 위하여 플라즈마 전해산화(PEO, plasma electrolytic oxidation)법을 이용하여 다양한 용액에서 양극 및 음극 펄스전류를 인가하여 형성하였다. PEO피막 내부에 형성된 기공의 모양 및 크기를 에폭시 레플리카법을 이용하여 관찰하였다. PEO 피막 내부의 기공의 크기는 용액의 pH가 증가할수록 작아졌으며 균열의 크기는 증가하였다.

  • To improve dimension accuracy and make very small parts are one of the major purpose on the electrochemical micromachining. This paper introduce a small machine tool by using the point electrode. That has a data acquisition system for gathering applied electric condition between the gap. Point electrode on this system was made by this method as well. It was found that variable phenomena occurred through the acquired V-I curve on the process.

  • In this paper, the new electrochemical machining method is proposed for the micro unit fabrication by using the point electrode tools. The precision shape control capacity is improved by using the point electrode method. It was observed that an electric discharge phenomenon occurs during the electrochemical machining process by using the spraying and torrent type electrolyte supply method.

  • 구조용 합금 중 가장 우수한 비강도를 나타내는 마그네슘 및 마그네슘 합금은 최근 자동차, 항공, 기계 및 전자산업 등 다양한 산업분야에서 이용되고 있다. 하지만 마그네슘 합금은 반응성이 매우 커서 쉽게 부식되는 단점이 있다. 따라서 최근 내식성 향상을 위한 표면처리 기술에 대한 연구의 필요성이 증대되고 있으며, 그 중 플라즈마 전해산화법(Plasma electrolytic oxidation)은 양극산화반응을 이용하여 고내식성, 고경도의 산화피막을 금속 표면에 형성시키는 방법으로 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 탄산이온이 포함된 수용액에서 수산화나트륨의 농도가 AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 플라즈마전해산화 피막형성에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보았다. 다양한 농도의 수산화나트륨 용액에서 DC 전류를 인가하여 플라즈마전해산화 피막을 형성하였다. 탄산 이온이 포함된 수용액에서 수산화나트륨의 농도가 높아질수록 플라즈마 전해산화 피막의 형성전압은 낮아지며, 초기 피막 형성전압 상승 속도 또한 빠르게 증가하며 피막 형성전압 등락의 폭은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 여기에서는 최근에 방전가공과 전해가공의 원리와 동향에 대하여 개설하였다. 앞으로 진행되는 재료혁명과 더불어 가공연구를 거듭함에 따라 적용의 다양화, 생력화는 물론 정밀화와 APT 의 발달로 인하여 점차 NC system과 조화되면 인수부족에 대처할 무인화 plant도 가능할 것으로 믿는다. 우리 나라에서도 전기가공법 발달에 적극적인 연구의 필요시기가 왔다고 보며 이 조그만 글이 도움이 된다면 다행이로 믿는 바이다.
