2012디지털북페스티벌이 지난 9월 20일부터 22일까지 3일간 국립디지털도서관에서 개최됐다. 국립중앙도서관과 한국전자출판협회가 공동으로 주최하고, 성도솔루윈, 예스24, 리디북스, 유페이퍼, 바로북, 맥플러스, 북잼 등 50여개 전자책 기업이 참여하는 '2012 디지털 북페스티벌' 행사는 300여대의 모바일 단말기로 3천여 종의 전자책으로 직접 보고 체험할 수 있는 '전자책 전시'와 직접 전자책을 출간할 수 있는 '전자책 셀프출판 체험 행사', 모바일 융합시대의 전자책 첨단 기술과 비즈니스 협력 모바을 구축하기 위한 세미나 및 컨퍼런스가 다채롭게 개최됐다.

This study deals with current use of e-books through a survey of e-book audiences and a diagnosis of the development perspective of e-book audiences. In addition, we present some effective methods to promote e-books in the future. The study shows that e-book users have increased. However, e-books are not well-known to the audience. Mainly, audiences use free web sites; consequently, the use of e-books is not well-promoted. Whether people have used e-books is statistically significant in the pattern of their use and e-book audiences prospect that the future of e-books is brighter than paper books. However, people who have used e-books prospect the brighter future for e-books than people who have never used them. Therefore, we should reconsider the accessibility to e-books, promote publicity, research the reliability of the contents, reduce the price, develop various contents, change layout for better readability, and develop the screen for the less eye fatigue to promote e-books.

It was difficult for user to identify e-books due to some problems such as duplicable bibliographic records and inconsistent descriptive cataloging when cataloging the bibliographic records of the e-book packages in OPAC. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find the applicable methods of the provider neutral e-book(e-monograph) MARC record guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of the provider supplied e-book package. Through the literature reviews and homepage analysis of 15 university libraries in domestic, the theoretical background on cataloging e-book, the descriptive cataloging of e-book, the provider-neutral e-monograph MARC record guideline as new standard for e-book, and the libraries practices of cataloging bibliographic records of the e-book package were inquired. Based on these analysis, it was to suggest applicable methods of provider neutral e-book(e-monograph) MARC record guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of domestic e-book packages in aspect of cataloging rule, KORMARC, and neutral bibliographic records. This study will contribute to build FRBRization of the e-books in OPAC as finding the guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of the e-book packages for both providers and libraries.

본 연구는 간호학과 교수들과 간호학과 학생들의 전자책에 대한 인식 및 이용현황을 살펴보고 앞으로 대학교 학술교재를 전자책으로 전환할 때 필요한 요소에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전국 간호학과 교수 82명과 간호학과 학생 127명들을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하여 전자책에 대한 선호도와 현재 사용 중인 대학교재를 전자책으로 대체할 경우 전자책의 원하는 기능들에 대해서 조사하였다. 70%이상의 응답자들이 대학교재는 아직까지 인쇄형태의 교과서를 선호하였으며, 그 이유로는 전자책으로 이용 가능한 교재수가 적고 전자책 단말기 구입비용에 대한 부담을 꼽았다. 전자책에 추가되었으면 하는 기능으로는 손쉬운 메모기능과 하이라이트 기능, 비디오나 이미지 자료 삽입, 검색의 용이성과 사전기능 추가를 추천하였다.

The purposes of this study are to investigate the perception and use of e-books by librarians and children and to suggest important elements to improve e-book services at the children's libraries. User survey questionaries and interviews from fifty five librarians and thirty children were carried for the perceptions and the use of e-books at five children's libraries. Based upon the data analysis from two groups, three important elements for improving e-book services of the libraries were suggested as follows: providing enough e-book contents, facilities and spaces, developing e-book user education programs with proactive pubic relations, and providing professional continuing education programs regarding e-books to librarians.

종이책은 출판의 오랜 역사적, 기술적 과정을 통해 고유한 사용자 인터페이스를 형성해왔다. 전자책은 1970년대 이후 디지털 출판 방식에 의해 출현하고 최근 HTML5 기반의 이퍼브(EPUB)3.0 형식이 확산되었다. 전자책은 전통적 종이책 편집의 사용자 인터페이스 요소들을 상당부분 지니고 있으면서도 많은 부분을 포함하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 기술와 미디어 변화에 따라 '사용자가 인터페이스를 통해 상호작용을 하면서 가지게 되는 전체적인 느낌과 경험이 변화된다는 관점에서 종이책과 전자책의 인터페이스를 비교 분석한다. 이 작업을 통하여 공통점과 차이점이 지니는 의미를 분석하고, 전통적 출판의 편집요소가 어떻게 전자책 편집 수준을 높이고 전자책을 통해 더 진화된 인터페이스와 사용자 체험을 제공할 수 있게 활용될 수 있는지를 연구한다.

전자책이 등장한지 15년이 지났지만, 아직도 전자책 시장에는 종이책의 틀에 갇혀 글로만 쓰인 책이 가득하다. 이러한 부분을 ePub 3.0의 기반이 되는 HTML5를 이용함으로 해결할 수 있으나, HTML5 역시 아직 활발히 사용되는 기술요소가 아니기에 전자책 시장에서 멀티미디어 요소와 함께 하는 전자책을 찾기란 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 HTML5를 이용하여 전자책에 멀티미디어 요소를 추가할 수 있는 Editor와 전자책을 볼 수 있는 Viewer를 실험적으로 구현해보았다. 또한, 도서 검색의 편의를 위해 도서 본문을 이용한 Semantic 검색을 구현하였다.

최근 전자책이 활발하게 개발됨에 따라 인쇄매체로서 어린이책의 미래를 비관적으로 보는 견해도 있다. 하지만 전자책과 달리 종이책은 어린이들이 오감으로 느낄 수 있다는 점에서 전자책이 줄 수 없는 독특한 만족감을 주기 때문에 어린이들에게 계속 사랑받을 것으로 보인다. 5월 5일 어린이날을 맞아 이번 호에서는 동심을 사로잡는 어린이책의 특수인쇄기법에 대해 알아본다.

전자책이란 도서로 간행됐거나 간행될 수 있는 저작물의 내용이 디지털 데이터를 이용해 전자 기록매체, 저장장치에 수록된 뒤, 유무선 정보통신망을 통해 컴퓨터나 휴대단말기로 그 내용을 읽고, 보고, 들을 수 있도록 한 디지털 도서를 총칭한다. 이렇게 볼때 로버트 기요사키가 만든 '부자 아빠, 가난한 아빠'를 한글 문서나 워드로 만들어 개인 PDA에서 읽는 것도 전자책의 형태일 수 있으며, 한국전자북이 판매하는 하이북 단말기에서 'YBM 시사영어사'의 토익을 보고 MP3로 들을 수 있어도 전자책이다. 이렇듯 큰 의미로는 저작물이 도서로 발간됐거나 가능성이 있는 저작물을 디지털 데이터로 변환된 모든 것을 전자책이라 할 수 있지만 본 지면에서는 국, 내외 상업화된 유로 전자책 사이트에서 제공되는 전자책에 활용되는 솔루션만을 대상으로 한다.

전자책에 대한 사회적인 관심과 다양한 장점에도 불구하고 현재 상이한 전자책 문서 포맷을 사용한 결과 전자책 컨텐츠에 대한 교환 및 공유를 어렵게 하여 결과적으로 전자책의 시장 활성화를 가로막는 가장 큰 장애가 되고 있다. 미국과 일본에서는 이미 관련 표준안을 제정한 바 있으며, 한국에서도 2001년 한국전자책 컨소시엄(EBH의 표준화 분과위원회를 통하여 전자책 산업 표준인 한국전자책문서표준(EBKS)을 제정하였다. 한국에서의 전자책 표준 EBKS는 HTML 및 PDF보다 다양한 장점을 제공하는 XML을 기반으로, 전자책 컨텐츠에 대한 정확한 교환 한국출판환경의 특징 반영, 생성 용이성, 관련 표준과의 호환성 제공 등을 기본 방향으로 한다. 한편 EBKS는 DTD 측면에서 고정된 문서구조, 확장메커니즘 제공, 세로 쓰기 다단 편집 그리고 한글 및 고어 특성 반영 등과 같은 특징을 포함하며, 스타일의 경우 교환을 위해서는 XSL-FO를 이용하여 컨텐츠와 스타일을 분리하고 있으며, 출력을 위해서는 XSL-FO를 권고한다. 그리고 EBKS 메타데이터는 사용의 용이성 교환 및 호환성 등을 제공하기 위하여 한정어(qualifier)를 사용하지 않는 dc-metadata와 확장을 위한 x-metadata로 구성된다. 한편 본 논문에서는 이러한 EBKS의 활용예로 XSL-FO를 이용한 전자책 컨텐츠에 대한 정교한 출력 결과를 제시한다.
