도쿄공업대학전자도서관(TDL:Titech Digital Library)은 1999년 4월에 서비스를 시작했다 TDL은 이공학 분야의 다양한 정보자원과 이용자를 명쾌하게 연결시키는 게이트웨이 기능의 실현을 목적으로 한 전자도서관 시스템이다. 본고에서는 우선 도쿄공업대학부속도서관에서 TDL의 도입 이전에 시도해 온 여러 가지 전자적 정보 서비스에 대해서 되돌아보고, 이어서 TDL 설계의 구상(Concept), 그 구상을 실현하기위한 시스템의 기본기능에 대하여 실제 서비스 전개 상황을 삽입해 가면서 설명한 후, 마지막으로 금후의 과제와 전망에 대해서 언급한다. 본 연구는 3차원 가상현실 e-book도서관 시스템을 설계하고자 한다. 제안한 시스템은 입체적 가상공간의 전자도서관으로 사이버 상에서 실제의 도서관을 방문한 것처럼 사용자 우호적 인터페이스로 자료를 관리/서비스할 수 있는 가상현실 전자도서관 시스템이다. 이 시스템은 문헌 정보에 대한 온톨로지 기반의 정보검색 에이전트로 개발되며, 온라인 서비스를 통한 3차원 가상현실에서 도서관을 네비게이션으로 이동하면서 문헌을 검색할 수 있다.

최근 국가 정보화 프로젝트의 일부분으로 전자도서관시스템이 개발되고 있으며 각 대학과 기업은 나름대로 전자도서관 구축에 힘쓰고 있다. 이 글에서는 최근 전자도서관 구축에 이용되는 요소기술들을 살펴본다. 특히 다양한 전자도서관 기반 기술들 가운데 현재 도서관 분야에서 적용이 가능한 기술들을 중심으로 언급할 것이다. 그리고 현재 국내에서 개발되어 운영되거나 판매되고 있는 제품들을 소개하고자 한다. 다만 여기에서는 제한된 여건상 모든 제품들을 소개하지 못하고 대표적인 제품들만을 소개하기로 한다.

Digital library system is an area of multimedia data production system which can differentiate itself from the traditional libraries. While the major role of the traditional libraries is servicing the customers, digital library system is a total system which produces new-formatted knowledge from the existing and new information, and servicing the knowledge to the customers. Thus digital library system must incorporate open and standardized document formats such as SGML, and make the knowledge shareable among the other digital library systems. In order to do show the efficient implementation for the effective digital library system, a technical alternative will be introduced as performing the Digital Library Pilot project.

With the rapid growth and development of information technology and the Internet, the amount of information published in electronic formats such as video, audio, digitalized text, etc. and the number of users accessing information online to satisfy their information needs are growing at a tremendous rate. This study analyzes standardized components to construct ERMS and proposes a model of ERMS based on the result of the analysis. The main functions of ERMS in university libraries are: 1) ERMS can manage and control access information to various electronic resources, metadata, holdings, user resources. Also, ERMS can be compatible with an existing library system such as IR(Information Retrieval) system, linking system, or proxy system. 2) ERMS should completely be compatible with acquisition and cataloging systems for effective management and control of integrated information organization and library budget. 3) ERMS should systematically and effectively manage license information on electronic resources. 4) ERMS should provide ideal and effective environment for use and access control of electronic resources in a library and integrated tool to manage and control all of electronic resources. Additionally, this study points out the need to organize committee groups to establish standardized rules and collaborative management of electronic resources among university libraries like DLF ERMI and redesign organizations in a library and a librarian's job description.

This study surveyed the retrieval systems for digital information resources of the university libraries in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam districts and the vendors. Kinds of access points and retrieval conditions (Boolean logic, methods of index term identification, and particularities of the retrieval) of the libraries' systems are various and different to each other. Access points of the vendors' systems are unessentially various and different to each other, but the retrieval conditions are rather elaborated. Upon the result the suggestions for the standardization of digital information retrieval system are offered.

초고속 정보 통신 기반 응용 서비스 분야 중의 하나인 전자 도서관 시스템은 많은 기술적인 요구 사항을 가지고 있다. 특히 보안 기술은 문서 서비스에 대한 사용료 지불 문제, 저작권 보호 문제 등과 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있는 쟁점 중의 하나이다. 전자 도서관에서 요구되는 보안 기술로는 문서에 대한 접근 통제 기술, 사용자 인증 기술, 문서와 사용자 데이터에 대한 비밀 보장 기능 등 여러 가지가 있다. 이 논문은 분산 환경에서 사용자 인증 기능을 제공하는 MIT Kerberos를 사용하여 전자 도서관에서 사용자 인증 기능을 제공하는 방법을 제안하였다.

본 논문에서는 전자 도서관을 위한 저작권 보호 기능을 가진 전자책 교환 시스템 개발을 소개한다. 전자책은 암호화에 기반한 리더 시스템을 통해 저작권이 안전하게 보장되도록 하는 디지털 컨텐츠 유통을위한 기술 표준이다. 전자책의 안전한 유통과 사용을 위해서 전자 도서관은 보유한 디지털 컨텐츠에 대해 적법한 사용 권한을 이용하여 대출을 해 줄 수 있어야 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 EBX(E-Book Exchange) 프로토콜에서 정의한 대출 기능을 구현한 도서관 서버를 개발하였고 전자책 리더 클라이언트를 통해 이러한 권한을 보호하면서 사용자가 전자책을 이용할 수 있게 지원하는 기능을 구현하였다.
