Performance Improvement analysis of Acoustic Communication System using Receive Diversity (수신 다이버시티를 이용한 음향 통신 시스템의 성능 향상 분석)

  • Acoustic communication system is a transmission technology sending sound and data simultaneously. However, data signal can be audible in this system when data is transmitted with high transmission power. The more transmission power is reduced, the more distance that can transmit data is shortened. Therefore, the study that increase the transmission distance is needed. In this paper, we would like to increase transmission distance by adapting receive diversity in acoustic communication system. We measure received performance of both proposed system and Single Input Sing Output (SISO) system according to distance with same transmission power. When SISO satisfies Bit Error Rate (BER) of $7{\times}10^{-3}$ at about 2m, Selection Combining (SC) technique satisfies 2 meters, and Equal Gain Combining (EGC) technique satisfies 4 meters.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서는 에너지 제약이라는 특징 때문에 에너지 효율과 관련된 많은 연구가 진행되고 있지만 대부분의 연구는 에너지를 보존하기 위해 센서노드의 작업을 줄이는 소극적인 방식을 취한다. 이에 반해 파워 컨트롤 기법은 전송 파워를 조절하여 불필요한 에너지 소모를 줄이는 적극적인 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크의 클러스터 기반 라우팅 프로토콜인 LEACH(Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy)에 파워 컨트롤 기법을 적용한 LEACH-PC(LEACH-Power Control)를 제안하였다. LEACH-PC는 클러스터 구성에 사용한 RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator) 정보를 이용하여 클러스터 내부 통신 단계에서 파워 컨트롤을 수행한다. LEACH-PC는 에너지 효율성 측면에서 기존의 LEACH 보다 좋은 성능을 보임을 실험을 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

Power Allocation and Splitting Algorithm with Low-complexity for SWIPT in Energy Harvesting Networks (에너지 하베스팅 네트워크에서 SWIPT를 위한 저복잡도를 갖는 파워 할당 및 분할 알고리즘)

  • Recently, energy harvesting, in which energy is collected from RF signals, has been regarded as a promising technology to improve the lifetime of sensors by alleviating the lack of power supply problem. In this paper, we try to propose an efficient algorithm for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer. At first, we find the lower bound of water-level using the probability density function of channel, and derive the solution of power allocation in energy harvesting networks. In addition, we derive an efficient power splitting method for satisfying the minimum required harvested energy constraint. The simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme improves the average data rate while guaranteeing the minimum required harvested energy constraint, compared with the conventional scheme. In addition, the proposed algorithm can reduce the computational complexity remarkably with insignificant performance degradation less than 10%, compared to the optimal solution.

  • The piezoelectric single crystals used in piezoelectric transformers have a problem that power transfer capacity is comparatively low due to their high input impedance. In this study, we suggest a method to improve the power transfer capacity by reducing the high input impedance of the piezoelectric single crystal vibrator by connecting a capacitance increasing circuit to the electrical terminals of the piezoelectric single crystal vibrator where the circuit is a GIC (Generalized Impedance Converter) circuit using operational amplifiers. The result of measuring driving characteristics after applying the designed capacitance increasing circuit to the $128^{\circ}$ rotated Y-cut $LiNbO_3$ crystal vibrator confirmed that the input impedance decreased by 25 %, electromechanical coupling factor increased by 30 %, and the power transfer capacity increased by about 17 to 30 times in voltage conversion characteristics.

  • Although traditional single-hop cellular networks had been serving well in past years, they are no longer economically feasible in supporting high data-rate, multimedia services of $4^{th}$Generation (4G) communications due to the requirement of high transmission power By contrast, multi-hop cellular networks (MCN) are capable of dramatically saving the transmission power by overlaying the capability of ad hoc networking among mobile terminals on the cellular network infrastructure. To achieve this performance gain as well as enable 4G services, an efficient routing protocol needs to be designed for MCN. In this paper, we propose a reactive route discovery protocol for MCN that uses directional information to the base station in the route discovery process. Our analysis/simulation results have demonstrated that the proposed protocol significantly reduces flooding overheads. In addition, we consider issues for 4G services in MCN and applications of the proposed protocol.

  • IEEE802.11 DCF에서는 hidden node문제를 해결하기 위하여 RTS/CTS 교환을 사용한다. 그러나 실제로는 전송에 필요한 파워보다 간섭을 일으킬 수 있는 파워가 작다. 따라서 RTS나 CTS를 받지 않은 노드에서 전송을 시작할 경우에도 간섭에 의해 충돌이 발생할 수 있다. 멀티홉 애드혹 환경에서는 이 현상이 더 큰 성능 저하를 불러 일으킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 RTS/CTS 교환에서 CTS를 받은 노드들이 STS 패킷을 보내고 STS를 받은 노드가 자신이 전송을 시작할 경우 데이터를 받는 노드에서의 간섭 효과를 계산해 간섭 효과가 클 경우 전송을 지연시키는 과정을 추가하였다. 따라서 간섭에 의한 충돌이 발생하지 않도록 하였다. 또한 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 이 방식이 멀티홉 애드혹 환경에서 성능을 향상 시켰음을 보였다.

Contention-Free Access Protocol Based Energy-Efficient Transmission for Wireless PANs (비경쟁 접근 프로토콜 기반 WPAN을 위한 에너지 효율적인 전송기법)

  • One of very essential techniques for enlarging lifetime of energy-constrained wireless personal area network (WPAN) devices is energy-efficient transmission technique. If the WPAN is operated based on a TDMA protocol, the satisfaction of QoS requirements at each allocated time slot is another important factor to be considered. We therefore propose an energy-efficient transmission scheme for WPANs operating with a contention-free medium access protocol such as TDMA, as well as satisfying QoS requirement. The proposed algorithm determines the optimum combination of transmit power, physical data rate and fragment size required to simultaneously minimize the energy consumption and satisfy the required QoS in each assigned time duration, considering all the possible energy-minimization related parameters. The proposed algorithm demonstrated the improved performance results in terms of throughput and energy consumption via computer simulation.

Minimized Transmit Power Full Duplex NOMA Relay System for 5G Wireless Networks (5G 무선 네트워크 효율성 향상을 위한 Full Duplex NOMA Relay 최소 전송전력 시스템)

  • The key concept of NOMA among 5G network technologies is to set the power allocation coefficient for each node. In this study, we implemented the algorithm that calculates the uplink/downlink power allocation coefficients which is the key concept of NOMA technology through analysis of minimum SNR required for successful decoding at the receiver, based on Full Duplex NOMA relay system. The performance comparison between the proposed algorithm and the existing power allocation methods is performed and the performance is confirmed in terms of ergodic sum capacity and outage probability.

  • 본 논문에서는 IoT 전송 계층 요구 사항 및 문제점을 기술하고 이를 해결하기 위한 전송 계층 프로토콜을 제안한다. 우선, IoT 환경을 구성하는 디바이스의 경우 물리적으로 많은 제한 조건을 가진 constrained node로 정의된다. 여기서 constrained node는 메모리 크기 및 컴퓨팅 파워가 부족한 노드로 정의된다. 따라서 기존 전송 계층 프로토콜을 그대로 탑재할 수 없다. 더불어 IoT 서비스 특징 중 데이터 전송과 관련된 내용을 보면 데이터 사이즈는 작고, 자주 데이터를 발생 시키지 않는다. 따라서 IoT 디바이스에서 발생하는 데이터는 신뢰적 전송 서비스가 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 오버헤드가 적은 전송 서비스를 제공하는 전송 프로토콜을 제안하며 더불어 이 프로토콜은 sleepy node를 인지하고 이를 지원하는 IoT 전송 프로토콜이다.

Outage Analysis and Optimal Power allocation for Network-coding-based Hybrid AF and DF (네트워크 코딩 기반의 협력통신에서 Hybrid AF and DF 방식의 아웃티지 성능 분석 및 최적 파워 할당 기법)

  • Network coding was proposed to increase the achievable throughput of multicast in a network. Recently, combining network coding into user cooperation has attracted research attention. For cooperative transmission schemes with network coding, users combine their own and their partners messages by network coding. In previous works, it was shown that adaptive DF with network coding can achieve diversity gain and additional throughput gain. In this paper, to improve performance of conventional protocols and maximize advantage of using network coding, we propose a new network coding based user cooperation scheme which uses adaptively amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward according to interuser channel status. We derive outage probability bound of proposed scheme and prove that it has full diversity order in the high SNR regime. Moreover, based on the outage bound, we compute optimal power allocation for the proposed scheme.
