Effects of Tropospheric Delay Models for GPS Time Transfer (GPS 시각 전송에서의 대류층 지연 모델 영향 비교)

  • This paper shows effects of tropospheric delay models among delay features occurred when GPS code signal is transferred for GPS Time Transfer. GPS time transfer uses CGGTTS as the international standard format. For geodetic GPS receiver, ROB has provided r2cggtts software which generates CGGTTS data from RINEX data and all laboratories participated in TAI link uses the software and send the CGGTTS results periodically. Though Saastamoinen model and Niell mapping function are commonly used in space geodesy, r2cggtts software applied NATO model and CHAO mapping function to the tropospheric delay model. Hence, this paper shows effects of two tropospheric delay models implementing Saastamoinen model and Niell mapping function for the time offset.

  • To transfer large amount of packets fast in sensor network, it is necessary that the delay between successive packet transmissions should be minimized as possible. In Sensor network, since the Operating Systems are worked on the event driven, the Timer Event is used to transfer packets successively. However, since the transferring time of packet completely is varies very much, it is very hard to set appropriate interval. If interval is too long, delay also becomes too long but if interval is too short, the fail of transfer request would increase. In this paper, we propose ESTEO which reduces the delay between successive packet transmissions by using SendDone Event which informs that a packet transmission has been completed. In ESTEO, the delay between successive packet transmissions is shortened very much since the transmission of next Packet starts at the time when the transmission of previous packet has completed, irrespective of the transmission time. Therefore ESTEO could provide high packet transmission rate given large amount of packets.

Low Latency Uplink Transmission Scheme in Mobile Communication Networks (이동통신망에서 저지연 상향링크 전송 기법)

  • Even though current LTE/LTE-A mobile networks provide enough high data rate and low latency to support conventional wireless services, to support ultra-low delay services, such as virtual reality and remote control, in the next generation mobile communication network, it is required to provide very low delay about several ms. However, in the uplink transmission of the LTE/LTE-A system, the process of scheduling grant is required to obtain uplink resources for uplink transmission from the eNB. The process of granting uplink resources from eNB brings additional fixed latency, which is one of the critical obstacles to achieve low delay in uplink transmissions. Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel uplink transmission scheme called Cut-in uplink transmission, to reduce uplink latency. We provide the performance of the proposed uplink transmission scheme through simulations and show the proposed uplink transmission scheme provides lower uplink transmission delay than conventional uplink transmission scheme in LTE/LTE-A mobile networks.

  • The effects of group delay and non-linear characteristics on high data rate(HDR) satellite channel are presented in this paper Based on the modeling of group delay and non-linear characteristics the system performances which provide various data rate services were analyzed in Ka-band satellite channel. As the transmission data rate is increased, the degradation due to these channel characteristics is severely increased. The linear component of group delay and the AM-AM component of non-linear characteristics severely affect the system performance. To efficiently provide the various service via the same transmission system it is necessary to equalize the primary impairment factors. The optimum operating points of HDR satellite transmission system are implemented by considering the analyzed results on channel characteristics.

  • TFRC는 전송률 산출을 위해 Loss Rate와 RTT정보를 TCP-equation에 적용한다. 그러나 무선망과 같이 지연 변화가 큰 환경의 경우 RTT 값이 정확한 망상황을 표현한다고 할 수 없다. 모바일 단말의 경우 움직임에 따라 지연정보는 계속 변화하게 되며 순방향, 역방향 지연정보간의 차이도 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 지연 변화가 큰 환경에 맞는 지연정보인 One-way Delay를 사용하여 TFRC의 전송률 예측방법을 개선한다. One-way Delay 정보를 이용하여 Average Weighting을 거쳐 TCP-equation에 적용하여 전송률을 산출함으로써 정확한 Bandwidth의 예측이 가능함을 시뮬레이션을 통해 나타낸다.

  • IP멀티캐스트가 현재 보편적 서비스로 사용되지 못하는 한계로 인하여 그 대안으로 응용 계층 멀티캐스트 기법들이 제안되고 있다. 기존의 응용 계층 멀티캐스트의 성능 분석 기준으로 네트워크 자원의 효율적 사용면을 고려하여 스트레스, 스트레치와 전송 트리 관리 비용등이 사용되었다. 그러나, 응용 계층 멀티캐스트는 데이터의 전송이 참가자인 종단 시스템에 의해 이루어지고, 종단 시스템은 범용 장비로서 데이터 전달에 최적화된 성능을 갖지 못한다. 따라서, 데이터 전달을 위해 종단 시스템에서의 처리 지연이 발생하고 이로 인한 종단간 데이터 전송 지연에 영향을 끼치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 종단 시스템에서의 데이터 전달을 위한 전달 지연 시간을 모델링 하고, 대표적 다대다 응용 계층 멀티캐스트 기법인 End­system Multicast와 NICE에 대하여 종단 시스템에서 발생하는 처리 지연 시간이 전체 참가자간의 데이터 전송 지연 시간에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과를 기술한다.

An Analytical Model for GTS Service Delay of IEEE 802.15.4 with Two Priority Queues (두 개의 우선순위 큐를 적용한 IEEE 802.15.4 GTS 서비스 지연에 대한 분석적 모델)

  • IEEE 802.15.4 reserves transmission time to support real-time transport by sending GTS request packets to the PAN coordinator in advance. This paper introduces GTS-FAT technique to reduce the reservation time by giving a higher sending priority to GTS request packets than data packets. Differently from the conventional scheme where these two kinds of packets share a single transmission queue, GTS-FAT scheme allocates two queues with two different contention window sizes like IEEE 802.11e. This paper also proposes an analytical GTS delay model by combining the two legacy models for 802.15.4 and 802.11e to accurately predict the GTS-FAT delay over a given network topology. Our analysis shows that GTS-FAT reduces GTS service delay by up to 50% at the expense of the data delay by only up to 6.1% when GTS request packets four times outnumber data packets.

  • In this paper, we analyze the mean queuing delay of selective-repeat automatic repeat request (SR-ARQ) protocol with the finite retransmission persistence. The retransmission persistence means the willingness of the protocol to retransmit a lost (or corrupted) packet to ensure reliable packet delivery across a lossy link. According to the retransmission persistence, SR-ARQ protocols have a different performance in terms of both packet delay and link reliability. So far, however, there is no serious study in the effect of the retransmission persistence on the SR-ARQ performance. We present a simple M/G/1 queuing model for the SR-ARQ protocol with the finite retransmission persistence by using the ideal SR-ARQ approximation. The mean queuing delay is obtained from the queuing model and verified its accuracy through the simulation results using the OPNET simulator. Both the analytical predictions and simulation results clearly show the effect of retransmission persistence on the queuing delay of the SR-ARQ protocol in various network conditions: packet loss rate and traffic condition over a wireless link.

  • 이 논문에서는 에너지 제한이 엄격한 환경에서 동작하는 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 기회적 전송 전략을 제안한다. 본 연구는 무선 센서 네트워크의 호스트 지연에 민감한 어플리케이션을 고려하였다. 우리가 제안한 전송 전략은 시변 채널에서 지연의 제약을 받으면 채널상태가 좋을 때 전송을 시도하는 이진-결정 기반 전송 방식이다. 마코브 결정 프로세스가 전송 결정을 위한 최적 임계치를 찾는데 사용되었다. 우리의 이진-결정 기반 전송 방식은 에너지 소모의 원인인 전송실패를 가능하면 피하기 위해 채널의 질이 최적 임계 치를 넘을 때만 전송을 시작한다. 우리가 제안한 방식의 성능을 검증하기 위해 무선 페이딩 채널에서 광범위한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 이진-결정 기반 전송 방식이 다른 방식보다. 35% 놓은 에너지 효율을 가지고 이로인해 네트워크 수명이 연장된다는 것을 보여준다.

  • The effective power consumption is the primary issue in a sensor network which consists of the sensor nodes with limited battery power. So, most of the MAC protocols in sensor networks have been designed with the consideration of energy efficiency. Generally, these protocols make use of the listen and sleep mode periodically. However, this approach inevitably causes a long transmission delay on the data forwarding path, which is mainly resulted from the sleep time of the receiver node. This paper deals with a design of DT-MAC(Data Transmission centric MAC) protocol, with minimizes the data transmission delay while it forces each node to consume its energy efficiently. Thus, a node received a packet converts its remained sleep time to the pseudo_listen time, in which the node is able to transmit a packet. With benefit of the pseudo_listen period, the data transmission delay along with the data forwarding path will be shortened as much as it possible. Therefore, DT-MAC protocol is very suitable to the various applications which require a real time sensing data such as disaster and fire alarm.
