  • This study examined the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)-related variables of firefighters through a systematic literature review. Electronic databases were searched, including RISS, National Assembly Library, NDSL, KmBase. The search terms were PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Firefighter. Eleven studies from 146 references screened were included. All studies were non-experimental and correlational analyses. The positive correlation factors were age, duration of work, traumatic events, frequency of mobilization, number and strength of traumatic events experienced, work burden, coping method, D-type personality, depression, and anger rumination. The negative correlation factors were resilience, social support, self-esteem. To improve the mental health of firefighters in the future, professional intervention programs should be constructed to improve resilience, social support, and self-esteem, which are protective factors of PTSD.

  • This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the learning satisfaction of records management cyber education that is opened and operated by the National Archives of Korea, as well as to improve the quality of cyber education program. Cyber education consisted of an introductory course, an intensive course, and a liberal arts course. As the major factors for learning satisfaction, "validity of content structure, interaction between professors and learners, learning motivation, active learning attitude, ease of use environment, and level of organizational support" were set. An online survey was conducted on the learning satisfaction according to the curriculum of each course. The survey was conducted to 107 institutions with specialized records management personnel, and additional in-depth interviews were also conducted. The survey analysis consisted of factor analysis, independent sample T-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. As a result of the study, the factors influencing learning satisfaction were found in the order of interaction between professors and learners, learning motivation, and validity of content structure.

  • This paper reports the results of the analysis on the access points of two bibliographic databases specialized in children's materials: "A" public library's online catalog and "N" children's novel database. The analysis particularly focused on the access points that lead users to discover their own needs and on the ways users search and navigate. The findings showed that the selected bibliographic systems supported many access points that were taken from the materials as well as from other relevant information sources and that browsing and navigating with hyperlinks supported the users' 'recognition' of information through 'interactivity' between the users and the systems, 'information encountering,' and 'serendipity.' The findings of this paper have implications for librarians and systems designers who want to develop user-friendly bibliographic systems that give access to children's materials.

  • This paper covers the current status and problems of the archival ecosystem. Since the enactment of the Records Management Act, the archival ecosystem has grown rapidly, but in retrospect, the discipline of archival science has stagnated, records management practice is overly concentrated in the public sector, the records management infrastructure in the private sector is weak, and the industry is failing. In recent years, the archival community has continued to discuss these issues, but mostly in the context of public records management, especially in the field. In this article, we look at the archival community as a whole, including the problems of archival academia and universities, the professionalism and qualification system of archivists, the Records Management Act limited to the public domain, and the difficulties of the industry, and propose alternatives in terms of professionalism and localization.

  • This study objected books having been imported from China until the 7th century when unification was made among the three kingdoms together with distributed books by Korean nationals after compiling them, and clarified main characteristics by investing their whole pictures. The three kingdoms had imported books from China from the 5th century, and made them reflect to the enactment of laws and regulations, introduction of educational system, promotion of learning, international diplomacy, and national history compilation etc for settling down the ancient nation. And Buddhism having been transmitted to the Korean Peninsula in the late 4th century was nothing more than simple handing-down Buddhist scriptures in early stage, but teaching and learning developed into levels of forming new sects after the 7th century when the complete collection of Buddhist Sutras was introduced, so the study paid attention to a fact that full-scale compilation of our collection literature was appearing. As the result of analyzing the phenomena of book distributions till the 7th century when the three kingdoms were unified in this way, transmitted books showed concentrating aspects to confusion and Buddhist literature mainly, and books having been compiled by Korean nationals themselves appeared high in history books of the three kingdoms and collection literatures of Buddhism, and also a fact was grasped such like Sohak books required for basic learning and professional ones on science fields were imported from other countries. Most books having been distributed in the three kingdoms at that time were imported from the 6th century really, so majority of them seemed to be supplied with manuscript forms. However, this study considered the possibility of using bamboo scriptures on history books such as Liugi(留記) and Seogi(書記) etc that had been compiled before the 5th century at the three kingdoms.

  • As increasingly diverse kinds of information materials are available on the Internet, it becomes a challenge to define an adequate level of metadata provision for each different type of material in the context of digital libraries. This study explores issues of metadata provision for a particular type of material, statistical tables. Statistical data always involves numbers and numeric values which should be interpreted with an understanding of underlying concepts and constructs. Because of the unique data characteristics, metadata in the statistical domain is essential not only for finding and discovering relevant data, but also for understanding and using the data found. However, in statistical metadata research, more emphasis has been put on the question of what metadata is necessary for processing the data and less on what metadata should be presented to users. In this study, a case study was conducted to gauge the status of metadata provision for statistical tables on the Internet. The websites of two federal statistical agencies in the United States were selected and a content analysis method was used for that purpose. The result showing insufficient and inconsistent provision of metadata demonstrate the need for more discussions on statistical metadata from the ordinary web users' perspective.

After constituting 36 Q sample and 28 P sample, data were collect from April 15, 2005 to April 22 2005. The analyses showed 3 types of subjectivity structures. The first one was 'the economic benefit-seeking type.' Those in this type were motivated to use internet bookstores to achieve economic benefits. They paid more attention to the Prices discounted than the web site contents provided by internet bookstores. This type was conspicuously found among college students. The second one was the 'information-seeking type.' People in this category made visits to internet bookstores in order to obtain new information or professional materials. This type was dominantly found among women. The third one was the 'convenience-seeking type.' Those in this type were concerned not only with the accessibility and convenience, but also with such practical issues as delivery, price, applicability, payment, and bonus. This type was conspicuously observed among white collar workers. These findings suggests that in order to make internet bookstores more attractive to users, it is demanded to understand various needs held by users and map out sophisticated marketing strategies on the basis of such a knowledge.

To do this, we conducted a survey targeting civil servants in policy-related ministries, researchers at policy research institutes, and policy information service representatives, who will all participate in the policy information mentoring service. The results are as follows. First, the need for a policy information mentoring service the desire to participate was very high. Second, the policy information mentoring service requirements that must be considered during development were, by order of importance, the expertise of the policy information service, quantitative and qualitative improvement, and policy information sources. Requirements for a successful policy information mentoring service were to sign an agreement with organizations to participate in the service, and to then enable partner organizations to recommend their staff to act as mentors and mentees. Conditions required on the operator side of the service were securing a pool of mentors and mentees, training for both groups, financial support cooperation guarantee from the affiliated organizations for professional mentoring activities, and links to policy areas in related institution.
