A Study on Determination of VPP Cloud Charges (VPP 클라우드 요금 산정에 관한 연구)

  • Recent, energy transition policies are driving to increase in the number of small photovoltaic(PV) generators. It is difficult for system operators to accurately anticipate the amount of power generated from such small scale PV generation, and this may disrupt dispatch schedules and result in an increase in cost. The need for a Virtual Power Plant(VPP) is emerging as a way of resolving these problems, as it would integrate small-scale PV plants and eliminate uncertainty about the amount of power generated, control voltage, and provide power reserves. In this paper, the cost evaluation methods are described for determination of VPP cloud charges both Net Present Value(NPV) method and Profitability Index(PI) method, the calculated outcomes of the two types of cost evaluation methods are presented in detail. It seems we secure profitability as we get 1.22 of profitability index from calculation results, it may be attractive for the aggregator as NPV is enough for satisfying profitability.

A Study on Power Saving Effect Through Introduction of AM Radio High Efficient Transmission System (AM 라디오 고효율전송의 전력 절감 효과 분석)

  • AM radio broadcasting has the advantage that the sound quality is lower than that of FM radio but the service area is wide and at night it can be transmitted even to overseas due to ionospheric reflection. AM radio broadcasts usually transmit large amounts of several tens to several hundreds of kilowatts (KW), requiring a lot of power, which is a financial burden on broadcasters. Recently, it is required to introduce a way to reduce the power of AM radio broadcasting in Korea. Therefore, it is possible to save a certain amount of power compared to the conventional AM radio broadcasting, and it is possible to maintain the existing license service area and sound quality, and what policies are needed to introduce the technology. In this paper, we predict the reduction of transmission power when a high efficiency transmission system is applied to existing AM radio broadcasting transmission system. As a result of the research, AMC adopting the high efficiency transmission method instead of the conventional AM radio transmission method, and when the modulation ratio of AM radio is 70%, if -3 dB companding is applied, the annual transmission power charge is decreased from 5,185,838,160Won to 3,528,900,086Won with saving of 32.0%, When -6 dB companding is applied, it is expected to be reduced to 2,608,378,934Won, which is 49.7% savings.

Assessment of the Potential Consumers' Preference for the V2G System (V2G 시스템에 대한 잠재적 소비자의 선호 평가)

  • Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) system, bi-direction power trading technology, enables drivers possessing electric vehicle to sell the spare electricity charged in the vehicle to power distribution company. The drivers gain profit by charging electricity in the day time of high electricity rate. In this regard, the government is preparing the policies of building and supporting V2G infrastructure and demanding the potential consumers' preference for the V2G system. This paper attempts to analyze the consumers' preference using the data from obtained a survey of randomly selected 1,000 individuals. To this end, choice experiment, an economic technique, is employed here. The attributes considered in the study are residual amount of electricity, electricity trading hours, required plug-in time, and price measured as an amount additional to current gasoline vehicle price. The multinomial logit model, which requires the assumption of 'independence of irrelevant alternatives', is applied but the assumption could not be satisfied in our data. Thus, we finally utilized nested logit model which does not require the assumption. All the parameter estimates in the utility function are statistically significant at the 10% level. The estimation results show that the marginal willingness to pay (MWTP) for one hour increase in electricity trading hours is estimated to be KRW 1,601,057. On the other hand, a one percent reduction in residual amount of electricity and one hour reduction in required plug-in time in V2G system are computed to be KRW -91,911 and -470,619, respectively. The findings can provide policy makers with useful information for decision-making about introducing and managing V2G system.

  • 에너지저장시스템(Energy Stroage System, ESS)은 잉여 전력과 에너지를 필요한 시점에 적절하게 공급할 수 있도록 에너지를 저장해두는 기술로 전기에너지의 픔질 및 효율성을 극대할 수 있는 에너지 활용 시스템이다. 미국을 비롯한 유럽 선진국들은 다양한 ESS 관련 제도정비 및 개선을 통해 ESS 산업의 활성화를 유도하고 있다. 우리나라의 경우, 신재생에너지 확대 정책을 수립하고 에너지 저장기술을 그린에너지 분야의 주요 핵심과제 선정하여 체계적인 육성전략을 추진 중에 있다. 그러나, ESS 도입 및 활성화를 위한 법제도적 기반이 마련되어 있지 않고, ESS도입에 대한 경제적 효과성에 대한 객관적인 기준이 없어, ESS의 보급 및 활성화가 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는, ESS의 보급과 활성화를 위해 효과적으로 ESS의 경제성 분석하기 위한 기법을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 세부적으로는 전기요금 산정방식에 따라 ESS의 운영모형을 정의하고, 운영모형별 경제성을 분석하기 위한 기법을 제시한다. 그리고, 실제 데이터를 활용하여 ESS로 절감할 수 있는 피크 크기를 구할 수 있는 알고리즘을 구현한다. 또한, 저감 피크와 온도, 습도에 대한 회귀 분석을 통하여 최대저감피크를 예측할 수 있는 해법을 제시한다.

A Study of Autonomous Intelligent Load Management System Based on Queueing Model (큐잉모델에 기초한 자율 지능 부하 관리 시스템 연구)

  • This paper presents an innovative load management technique that can effectively lower the summer peak load by adjusting the aircondition loads through smoothe coordinations between utility companies and large customers. An intelligent hierarchical load management system composed of a Central Intelligent Load Management System(CIMS) and multiple Local Intelligent Management Systems(LIMS) is also proposed to implement the reposed technique. Upon receiving a load curtailment request from the utilities, CIMS issues tokens, which can be used by each LIMS as a right to turn on the airconditioner. CIMS creates and maintains a queue for fair allocation of the tokens among the LIMS demanding tokens. By adjusting the number tokens and queue management Policies, desired load factors can be achieved conveniently. The Markov Birth and Death Process and the Balance Equations are employed in estimating various queue performances. The proposed technique is tested using a summer load data of a large apartment complex and proved to be quite effective in load management while minimizing the customer inconveniences.

A Study on the Causal Relationship Between Electricity Consumption and Output in Manufacturing Sectors of Korea (국내 제조업종별 전력소비와 경제산출간 인과관계 분석)

  • This study analyzed causal relationship between electricity consumption and economic output (GDP) for Korea from 2001 to 2014 employing the vector error-correction model estimation by manufacturing sector. The results of unit-roots tests show that all sectoral GDP and electricity consumptions were not stationary. And cointegration tests show that processed foods, Wood Pulp Paper, electricity apparatus, Precision Medical sectors had a linear combinations in the long run between electricity consumptions and economic growth. With respect to the direction of causality, manufacturing sector has a uni-directional running from economic output (GDP) to electricity consumption in short term. The results of study show that sectoral causal relation were different each other in short term and long term. These findings imply that electricity demand management policy focusing on efficiency improvement is necessary to minimize negative impacts on economic growth and to adopt suitable structural policies can induce energy conservation.
