  • The primary purpose of this paper is to suggest the import and development models of foreign scholarly journals in Korea. In the context of the emerging knowledged-based economy or knowledge society, innovations and capacity of the national information system to collect, disseminate, and preserve the most important STM journals are becoming increasingly fundamental determinants of national prosperity and survival. It is essential that the scholarly or scientific communication system must provide the cost-effectiveness access to scholarly journals in support of research and development in Korea.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship between teacher's emotional intelligence, consciousness of professionalism, and strategies of problem behavior guidance of early childhood. Methods: The subjects in this study were 237 childcare center teachers in Seoul and Gyoungi Province in South Korea. Three different inventories were utilized. As for data analysis, the frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and Multiple Regressions were conducted through SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The findings of the study were discussed as follows. First, emotional intelligence of teacher had the relationship with strategies of problem behavior guidance of early childhood. Second, consciousness of professionalism of teacher had the relationship with strategies of problem behavior guidance of early childhood. Conclusion/Implications: First, The findings showed that as teachers had the high level of ability in recognizing and expressing their emotion preciously, so the elements triggering the situation of problem were identified and captured, and the ability of use of preventive strategies in advance increased. The Use of Reading Strategy by Reading Anxiety and English Proficiency of Korean College Students (대학생의 읽기불안감과 영어성취도에 따른 읽기전략사용 연구)

  • This study examines university students' reading strategies based on English proficiency and reading anxiety. A total of 86 university students participated in the study and completed two questionnaires related to reading strategies[9] and reading anxiety[10]. The collected data was quantitatively analyzed using SPSS 21. The results indicated that advanced and intermediate students preferred to use Problem Solving Strategies(PROB), whereas beginning level readers tended to use and Global Reading strategies(GLOB). There was no significant relationship between reading anxiety and reading strategies. However, there were some differences between two groups. High anxiety students preferred to use reading materials and textual clues and try to focus on their reading when they have a difficulty. Low anxiety students tended to adjust reading pace and try to focus on comprehension and reread when they lost their focus. Based on the results of the study, several implications and limitations were discussed.

초등수학에서의 수학적 패턴 지도

  • 본 연구는 첫째로는 수학교육에서 패턴이 강조되는 이론적 근거를 찾고자 역사적 맥락에서 수학의 성격변화를 탐색하였다. 수학의 성격 변화를 통하여 수학은 수의 탐구, 기하의 탐구, 운동ㆍ변화ㆍ공간의 탐구, 수학 연구의 도구에 대한 탐구로 그 영역을 점차 확대하여 왔으며, '수학은 패턴의 과학이다'라는 정의는 수학이 폭넓어짐에 따라 수학이 무엇인가에 대한 수학의 본성에 접근하는 논의라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 수학에 대한 새로운 관점은 수학교육의 새로운 방향 모색에 시사하는 바를 살펴보고, 특히 수학교실의 변화에 따른 패턴의 강조를 살펴보았다. 둘째로는 수학적 패턴을 밝힘과 동시에 수학 교육에서 수학적 패턴 분석의 틀을 마련하고자 수학적 패턴의 유형화를 시도하였다. 패턴의 속성에 따른 유형화와 패턴의 생성 방식에 따른 유형화를 통하여 수학적 패턴의 유형을 마련하였다. 초등학교 수학에서 다루어지는 패턴은 어떠한 것인가를 현행 4학년 수학교과서 및 익힘책에 제한하여 유형화한 틀로서 조사 분석하였다. 셋째로는 수학적 패턴에 관한 지도 방안의 모색으로서, 지도의 기본 방향을 설정하고 수학적 패턴에 관한 교수 전략을 마련하였다. 교수전략은 크게 패턴에서의 규칙 찾기, 패턴을 변형ㆍ확장하기, 자신의 새로운 패턴 만들기, 패턴을 수학적으로 설명하기로 나누고, 각각에 3-4개의 세부 전략과 세부 전략에 따른 예를 제시하였다.

  • With the importance for teachers of understanding students' strategies and providing appropriate feedback to their students, the purpose of this study is to analyze how prospective elementary teachers interpret and respond students' strategies for fraction tasks with number lines. The findings from analysis of 64 prospective teachers' responses were as follow. First, the prospective teachers in general could identify the students' understanding and errors based on their strategies, however, some prospective teachers overgeneralized students' mathematical thinking at a superficial level. Second, the prospective teachers could pose diverse tasks or activities for revising the students' errors, while some prospective teachers tried to correct students' errors by using only the area models. Based on these results, this study suggests for prospective teachers to have opportunities to understand elementary students' diverse problem strategies and to consider teaching methods with different fraction models.

  • Much of the current literature on reading instruction supports the idea of teaching students a series of reading strategies instead of isolated reading skills. Reading strategies are plans or methods that can be used or taught to facilitate reading proficiency. In the meantime, the reading instruction program of school library is the reading promotion event has been limited. Therefore, the reading instruction program of school library need to focus reading strategies oriented instruction rather than reading skill. This Study categorizes Reading Strategies that divided into text type, text structure, reading process, cognitive strategies.

  • This study investigated the teaching strategies of two exemplary American teachers regarding word problems and their impact on students' ability to both understanding and solving word problems. The teachers commonly explained the background details of the background of the word problems. The explanation motivated the students' mathematical problem solving, helped students understand the word problems clearly, and helped students use various solving strategies. Emphasizing communication, the teachers also provided comfortable atmosphere for students to discuss mathematical ideas with another. The teachers' continuous questions became the energy for students to plan various problem solving strategies and reflect the solutions. Also, this research suggested a complementary model for Polya's problem solving strategies.

The Effects of Semantic Mapping as a Science Text Reading Strategy On High School Students' Inferential Comprehension (과학 텍스트 의미지도 읽기 전략이 고등학생의 추론적 이해에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of semantic mapping as a science text reading strategy on high school students' inferential understanding. For this purpose, eight science text reading classes were conducted a reading strategy using semantic mapping for 46 students in two science-focused classes in the third grade of a high school. To investigate the effects of semantic mapping reading strategy on students' inferential comprehension, students' pre- and post-reading ability tests results were analyzed. In order to find out the change in inferential comprehension, the level of the inferential comprehension was analyzed using the analysis framework for developed in this study. For the classification of inferential comprehension, the levels of the inferential comprehension were converted into scores. The results of the analysis of changes in students' inferential comprehension showed that semantic mapping reading strategy classes influenced the changes in high school students' inference, especially bridge inference and elaborative inference among sub-elements of inferential comprehension.
