In this study, a Hardware-In-The-Loop-Simulation(HILS) system for developing a Electric-Power-Steering(EPS) system is designed. To test a EPS by HILS system, a mathematical vehicle model with a steering system model has been constructed. This mathematical model has been constructed. This mathematical model has been downloaded to the Digital-Signal-Processor(DSP) board. To realize the lateral force acting on the front wheel in a real car. the steering wheel angle sensor and vehicle velocity have been used for input signal. The force sensor has been used for a feedback signal. The full vehicle states could by simulated by the HILS system. Consequently, the HILS system could by used to analyze control-parameters of a EPS that contributes to the maneuverability and stability of a vehicle. At the same time, the HILS system can evaluate the whole performance of the vehicle-steering system. Also the HILS system could do test could not be executed in real vehicle. The HILs system will useful for developing the control logic for the EPS system.
This paper describes the attributes, performance and development status of a high performance capacitive torque sensor intended for use in a electric power steering (EPS) system. The EPS system is composed of torque sensor, ECU, motor, gears and etc. Among the elements, torque sensor in the steering column is one of the core technologies. The new capacitive torque sensor in this paper is developed differently from working principle and mechanical structure compare to extant torque sensors in market and patent. Based on the result of numerical analysis, a experimental equipment is made which is composed of a test jig and a capacitive sensor and validity of numerical analysis and feasibility of the torque sensor are verified.
This study proposes and validates a new column type electric power steering system (EPS-TT). It is driven by a uni-directional motor and two electro-magnetic clutches. The assist motor produces assist torque in only one direction and two clutches transmit the torque to the column of steering system in either left or right direction with respect to the steering input. A full order and a reduced order models are developed to evaluate the EPS-TT. Models are also used to investigate the vehicle responses. A PID control logic is designed to control the torque of the assist motor. A driver model is applied to the system and the resulting performances are analyzed. The results show that the performances of the full order model are similar to those of reduced order model. The results also prove that the performances achieved by the EPS-TT are improved compared to those of a conventional EPS-TT across the frequency domain.

This paper presents a lateral driver model with neuromuscular system to evaluate the performance of electric power steering (EPS). Output of most previously developed driver models is steering angle. However, in order to evaluate EPS system, driver model which results in steering torque output is needed. The proposed lateral driver model mainly consists of 2 parts: desired steering angle calculation and conversion of steering angle into steering torque. Desired steering angle calculation part results in steering angle to track desired yaw rate for path tracking. Conversion of steering angle into torque is consideration with neuromuscular system. The proposed driver model is investigated via actual driving data. Compared to other algorithms, the proposed algorithm shows similar pattern of steering angle with human driver. The proposed driver can be utilized to efficiently evaluate EPS system in simulation level.
Global competition of automotive market and affordable prices of electronic components become the major reason that automotive industries rapidly employ a large number of electric and electronic systems to improve vehicle performance and to meet various regulations such as emission, fuel efficiency, and safety. Especially, the provision of a motor-driven steering column (MDSC) for luxury vehicle is getting popular for drivers' convenience. In this study, an MDSC is developed, which provides several intelligent features such as the manual operation for tilting and telescoping the steering wheel, and the save/recall operation for three different steering wheel positions. In addition, the fault detection algorithm is developed.
본 연구에서는 고정자에 스큐가 적용된 Bushless PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)의 설계 방법 및 해석방법에 대해 소개한다.
This paper suggests an example of modification of the durability test specifications of electronic control unit for an automotive system in phase of design validation. The basic concept to redefine the specifications of durability test is based on the Arrhenius relationship for accelerated temperature test and the modified Coffin-Manson model for temperature cycle test. The ambient temperature of the powered-event durability test is increased to reduce the required test time of the current specification. Furthermore, the holding time between the events to cool down the temperature of the components is shortened and the resultant temperature rise affects the durability of the components. Thus, the acceleration factor due to the increased temperature range of temperature cycle is also estimated by the modified Coffin-Manson model.
