A bond-based peridynamic model has been reported dynamic fracture characteristic of brittle materials through a simple constitutive model. In the model, each bond is assumed to be a simple spring operating independently. As a result, this simple bond interaction modeling restricts the material behavior having a fixed Poisson's ratio of 1/4 and not being capable of expressing shear deformation. We consider a state-based peridynamics as a generalized peridynamic model. Constitutive models in the state-based peridynamics are corresponding to those in continuum theory. In state-based peridynamics, thus, the response of a material particle depends collectively on deformation of all bonds connected to other particles. So, a state-based peridynamic theory can represent the volume and shear changes of the material. In this paper, the perfect plasticity is considered to express plastic deformation of material by the state-based peridynamic constitutive model with perfect plastic flow rule. The elastic-plastic behavior of the material is verified through the stress-strain curves of the flat plate example. Furthermore, we simulate the high-speed impact on 3D granite model with a nonlocal contact modeling. It is observed that the damage patterns obtained by peridynamics are similar to experimental observations.
The distribution of gravel-bed materials in mountainous river is formed by the process of deposition and transportation of sediment responding to stream power of the latest flood that is over the certain scale. The particle size of bed material was surveyed in the longitudinal points of river and detail points of a specific meandering section and used to estimate the critical velocity and stream power. Yang's critical unit stream power and Bagnold's critical stream power for gravel-bed materials increased with the distance from downstream to upstream. Dimensionless shear stress based on the designed flood discharge in Shields diagram was evaluated that the gravel-bed materials in most survey points may be transported as form of bedload. The mean diameter in the meandering section was the biggest size in first water impingement point of inflow water from upstream and the second big size in second water impingement point by reflection flow. The mean diameters were relatively the small sizes in points right after water impingement. The range of mean critical velocity was 0.77~2.60 m/s and critical unit stream power was big greatly in first water impingement point. The distribution of critical stream power, range of 7~171 $W/m^2$, was shown that variation in longitudinal section was more obvious than that of cross section and estimated that critical stream power may be affected greatly in first and second water impingement point.
Seasonal and spatial variations of tidal flat sediments were studied in Yeoja Bay. Results of the yearly observation of tidal flat transect lines indicated that the monthly change of grain size composition was not distinct from each tidal flat transect line, but it was quite clear that clay covered $40\~70\%$ of the sediment composition. Clay composed most highest in the northern part of the bay, and lowest in the western. As clay content increased, water and organic matter showed a tendency of increase, while the mean grain size was fixed per clay amount. Shear strength came out as 0 kPa as a whole. Seasonal variations of clay contents in each tidal flat were higher in winter and spring, but lower in summer and autumn. Thefine sediments were likely to be accumulated in the winter and spring. The average accumulation rate of each tidal flat was $-14.62\~38.57mm{\cdot}yr^{-1}$. The numbers showed $32.13mm{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ in the northern, $-14.62mm{\cdot}yr^{-1}$in the western, and $6.46mm{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ in the eastern part. During the coarse of this study sediment accumulation rates indicated that the sediments deposited continuously in the northern part of tidal flat, whereas erosion occurred in the western part. However, there was no distinct change in the eastern part. It was due to the clockwise lateral circulation in Yeoja Bay. Seasonally, sedimentation happened during the dry season (winter and spring) and erosion during the wet season (summer and autumn).
This study reports a gneiss dome in the Hongseong area, southwestern margin of the Gyeonggi massif. This gneiss dome, named here as 'Oseosan dome' because it is located around the Oseosan, the highest peak along the western coastal area, is composed mainly of the Neoproterozoic to Paleozoic ortho- and paragneiss, mafic metavolcanic rock, and metadolerite. Migmatization affected these rock units, in which leucocratic(granitic) materials derived from anatexis frequently occur as patch and vein parallel to or cutting through internal foliation. The Oseosan dome shows overall concentric geometry and outward-dipping internal foliation, but also partly complicatedly changeable or inward-dipping foliation. Taking available petrological and geochronological data into account, the Oseosan dome is interpreted to be exhumed quickly into the upper crustal level during the Late Triassic, accompanied in part with anatexis and granite intrusion. In addition, extensional shear zone intruded by the Late Triassic synkinematic granite and sedimentary basin have been reported around the Oseosan dome. These evidences possibly suggest that the Oseosan dome formed in closely associated with the Late Triassic extensional movement and diapiric flow. Alternatively, 1) thrust- or reverse fault-related doming or 2) interference between independent folds during structural inversion of the Late Traissic to Middle Jurassic sedimentary basin can be also considered as dome-forming process. However, considering the northern limb of the Oseosan dome, cutting by the Late Traissic granite, and the southern limb, cutting by contractional fault reactivated after the Middle Jurassic, it is likely that the domal structure formed during or prior to the Late Triassic.
Residual stress is developed in the injection molded articles during the molding process due to temperature variation and shear stress. The residual stress causes the deformation and warpage in the injection molded parts shortly within several days or after several years. Therefore, the injection molding conditions should be optimized to reduce the residual stress. And residual stress in the part should be also relaxed after molding process to maintain its shape. According to the annealing conditions, such as relative humidity, temperature and time, this study investigates the relaxation of residual stress generated in the transparent injection molded specimens. Through the experimental results, it was realized that the residual stress was relaxed at a relative humidity higher than 50%. Utilizing photoelasticity equipment, it was found that the residual stress was rapidly relaxed near glass transition temperature. Additionally, we recognized that the specimen shrunk along the flow direction but expanded to the perpendicular direction of the flow during the annealing processes, which resulted in the warpage of the specimen.

Climate change affects the safety of river revetments, especially those associated with external flooding. Research on slope reinforcement has been actively conducted to enhance revetment safety. Recently, technologies for producing embankment blocks using recycled materials have been developed. However, it is essential to analyze the impact of block shapes on the flow characteristics of exclusion zones for revetment safety. Therefore, this study investigates the influence of revetment block shapes on the hydraulic characteristics of revetment surfaces through 3D numerical simulations. Three block shapes were proposed, and numerical analyses were performed by installing the blocks in an idealized river channel. FLOW-3D was used for the 3D numerical simulations, and the variations in maximum flow velocity, bed velocity beneath the revetment, and maximum shear stress were analyzed based on the shapes of the revetment blocks. The results indicate that for irregularly sized and spaced revetment blocks, such as the natural stone-type vegetation block (Block A), when connected to the revetment in an irregular manner, the changes in flow velocity in the revetment installation zone are more significant than those for Blocks B and C. It is anticipated that considering the topographical characteristics of rivers in the future will enable the design of revetment blocks with practical applicability in the field.

The flow in the meandering channel is characterized by the spiral motion of secondary currents that typically cause the erosion along the outer bank. Hydraulic structures, such as spur dike and groyne, are commonly installed on the channel bottom near the outer bank to mitigate the strength of secondary currents. This study is to investigate the effects of submerged vanes installed in a $90^{\circ}$ meandering channel on the development of secondary currents through three-dimensional numerical modeling using the hybrid RANS/LES method for turbulence and the volume of fluid method, based on OpenFOAM open source toolbox, for capturing the free surface at the Froude number of 0.43. We employ the second-order-accurate finite volume methods in the space and time for the numerical modeling and compare numerical results with experimental measurements for evaluating the numerical predictions. Numerical results show that the present simulations well reproduce the experimental measurements, in terms of the time-averaged streamwise velocity and secondary velocity vector fields in the bend with submerged vanes. The computed flow fields reveal that the streamwise velocity near the bed along the outer bank at the end section of bend dramatically decrease by one third of mean velocity after the installation of vanes, which support that submerged vanes mitigate the strength of primary secondary flow and are helpful for the channel stability along the outer bank. The flow between the top of vanes and the free surface accelerates and the maximum velocity of free surface flow near the flow impingement along the outer bank increases about 20% due to the installation of submerged vanes. Numerical solutions show the formations of the horseshoe vortices at the front of vanes and the lee wakes behind the vanes, which are responsible for strong local scour around vanes. Additional study on the shapes and arrangement of vanes is required for mitigate the local scour.

An experimental study was carried out to examine the behavior of the unsteady boundary layer. An NACA 0012 airfoil with aspect ratio of 2.7 was set vertically in a test section, which is sinusoidally pitched about the quarter chord. The oscillating amplitude is from -6$^{\circ}$ to +6$^{\circ}$ and the mean angle of attack is 0$^{\circ}$. Surface mounted probes (Glue-on probes) were employed to measure the surface flow of the boundary layer. Measurements were made at free-stream velocities of 1.98, 2.83, and 4.03m/s, and the corresponding Reynolds numbers based on the chord length were 2.3$\times$104, 3.3$\times$104 and 4.8$\times$104, respectively. The reduced frequency is fixed as 0.1 in all cases. The results show that the surface position of minimum shear stress and of boundary layer break-down can be discerned in the Reynolds number between 2.3$\times$104 and 3.3$\times$104.

Cost, schedule, quality are the essential parts of success of every construction project. It is especially true in high-rise building construction. Among the construction components in high-rise building construction, curtain walls are very important elements for the project success because they take large portion of cost and schedule. However, curtain wall construction process are very complicated, where many entities including designers, suppliers, contractors and even maintenance contractors are involved. Therefore, control and management of their relationships and production process are critical. It is suggested that this can be solved by the concept of Supply Chain Management which is supported by the automated information technology with Radio Frequency Identification. Such concept is defined as 'Automated Life-Cycle Management System Based On SCM' and this study suggests rode map to establish the system.

PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) deposited in soil are one of serious problems against sustainable land use. In this paper, chemical soil flushing in a packed sandy soil matrix using a natural surfactant, $\beta$-cyclodextrin (CD) was studied via a fluorescence spectroscopy and a dye labelling. The contaminants are lipophilic ring compounds- phenanthrene and naphthalene. Sand type and flushing intensity (rate and concentration) are chosen as important investigation variables. The removal efficiencies were proportional to flow rate, concentration, temperature of the flushing solution and voidity of the sand column. Initial sorption of the surfactant onto the soil matrix was found to be a key step while flow shear was more crucial in the latter steps. The residual portion of the surfactant, which was most likely to be due to the initial sorption, would not be so influential on this type of soil washing for long times. These results will be useful in future for pilot scale in situ washing and for establishing better soil washing strategy.
