A Study on the PWM Control of Hydraulic Equipment Using High Speed On-Off Valve (고속전자밸브를 사용한 유압장치의 PWM 제어에 관한 연구)

  • This study deals with a position control of an electro-hydraulic servo system which consist of cylinder and high speed on-off valves operated by microcomputer. The merits of PWM control of hydraulic equipment are the robustness of the high spee on-off valve, its low price and the direct control without D/A converter. In the PWM control of high speed on-off valve, the time lag and switching time existing between the input and output signals of valve are considered as demerit points. To get analytical results, the effects of these demerits have to be clarified in detail. The object of this study is to propose a mathematical model for the behavior of high speed on-off valve and to get analytical results of this system. The dynamic characteristics of this system is examined by digital computer simulation analytically and compared with experimental results to varify the proposed mathematical model.

  • 원자력/화력 발전소에서 사용중인 터빈출력제어장치(turbine power control device)는 유압 서보액추에이터(hydraulic servo actuator)로 구동하는 특수 스팀 밸브(steam valve)로서 터빈의 속도를 제어하고 스팀을 차단하는 기능이 있다. 대형 발전기(500~1000Mw)를 구동하여 양질의 전기를 생산하기 위해서는 발전기에 연결된 고압 및 저압터빈에 최적량의 스팀을 공급하여야 하고, 고속(화력 3600 rpm, 원자력 1800 rpm)으로 회전하는 터빈이나 스팀계통에 이상이 발생할 경우 터빈의 과속(over speed) 방지를 위하여, 즉시 터빈으로 공급되는 스팀을 차단하여 터빈을 보호해야 한다. 따라서 터빈의 속도제어와 계통의 스팀 량을 감시하여 차단하는 발전소의 특수 밸브의 신뢰성확보기술이 요구된다. 특히 원자력발전소의 경우 핵연료교환주기(약 24개월)에 밸브들을 정비 또는 교체하고 있어 이때마다 시스템과 매칭(튜닝)기술이 요구되었다. 본 연구에서는 전량 수입에 의존했던 원자력/화력 발전소의 특수 밸브인 터빈출력제어장치의 국산화 개발과 신뢰성확보기술 효과에 대하여 논하였다.

  • In this study the 4-way spool valve characteristics are clearly defined and clearly defined and proposed new type of spool valve. This paper presents governing equations of the flow through clearances between sleeve and spool as a model of orifice flow for null characteristics analysis and programmed analysis software of it. This software is possible to basically analysis that not only which case of open center closed center or critical center but _ -displacement of spool lab position boundary region and spool opening of the valve and to estimate the pressure variation in the spool and external leak flow variation. We are convinced that the scale of load pressure difference is changed as lab condition of valve and this scale is changed with boundary point on the annular clearance. It is vary useful to designer and user of spool valve with this design data and analysis software.

  • PWM control is a kind of nonlinear control. The merits of PWM control of hydraulic equipment are the robustness of the high speed on-off valve and its low price. And it is easily implemented to hydraulic equipments with microcomputer. The high speed on-off valve is directly digitally controlled without any D/A converter. The objectives of this study is to analyze the limit cycle which regularly appear in the position control system using high speed on-off valve, and to give a criterion for the stability of this system. To do this, the nonlinear characteristics of PWM and cylinder friction of this system are described by harmonic linearization and the effects of parameter variations to the system stability are examined theoretically and experimentally. Consequently, the availability of the proposed method is confirmed well.

  • This paper deals with the issue of motion control of a single rod cylinder-load system using simple adaptive control (SAC) method. Prior to controller design, the experiment of open-loop response has been performed. Based on it, design parameters of transfer function are obtained and used for controller design. The effect of parallel feedforward compensator has been investigated by computer simulation, suppressing the oscillatory motion. Through experiments it is conformed that the SAC method gives good tracking performance compared to the PD control method.

  • This study deals with the application of high speed on-off valves to an electro-hydraulic servo indexing system incorporated electro-hydraulic servo valces. Comparing with the electro-hydraulic servo valve the high speed on-off valve has some merits. Which included low price robustness to the oil contamination and dircect control without D/A converter. The considered sys-tem of this study is controlled by pulse width modulation(PWM) of the control law which is pro-duced by a PID controller which is used broadly in industrial equipments. The dynamic character-istics corresponding to variations of system parameters such as inertia moment system gain and supply pressure are investigated by computer simulation and experiment. Consequently the availability of the application of high speed on-off valve to servo indexing system instead of electro-hydraulic servo valve is confirmed.

  • This paper presents position control of an electro-hydraulic servo system whoch is operated by four 2-2way high speed on-off valves with either PWM PID control method or sliding mode control method, The advantages of using high speed on-off valves instead of electo-hydraulic servo valves or electro-hydraulic proportional valves are low price robustness for oil contamination and direct control without a D/A converter. The system consists of load cylinder inertia car potentiometer and external load cylinder. The experiments were carried out under several conditions and the results were compared. As a result the sliding mode method has shown good control performance and the robust and stable positioning of the elector-hydraulic servo system can be achieved accurately.

  • In this study, a new PWM method considering the actuation delay of high speed solenoid valves is proposed to improve the response characteristics of electro hydraulic servo systems controlled by high speed solenoid valves. In addition, the decision method for the system gain, the basic period of PWM, and the sampling time is proposed, Since the conventional system controlled by high speed solenoid valves is too slow to apply this method, a high speed driving circuit(Quick-Drive) which enables rapid switching of the high speed solenoid valve at a high speed sampling mode is applied to realize this method. The experimental result shows that it is possible to achieve precision and quiet control without occurrence of limit cycle and wide range dead band.

An Analysis of Static and Dynamic Characteristics of Torque Motor (토크모터의 정특성과 동특성 해석)

  • In the early of 1950, the high response magnetic torque motor was developed for driving electro-hydraulic servo valves. Since then it has been broadly used for industrial application and the research of development or improvement of the torque motor is still being conducted. The purpose of this study is to present useful design criteria for the torque motor design. For this, torque motor is modelled and linearized. The static characteristics of the torque motor are investigated by direct computation of the derived linearlized equations. The dynamic characteristics of the torque motor are investigated with the derived transfer function by using Matlab and compared with the results of the linearlized analysis by using AMESim simulation with actual values of the physical parameters. Finally, the design criteria obtained from the analysis are reviewed.
