Paper Electrophoretic Separation of Fission Products (여과지 전기영동에 의한 핵분열 생성물 분리)

  • Paper electrophoretic separation of fission products has been carried out by using the specially designed migration apparatus. In general, the isolation of rubidium, strontium, zirconium, ruthenium, cesium, cerium, molybdenum, and some short-lived fission products is more efficient under 0.1M HCl electrolyte as compared with 0.1M NaOH electrolyte. In addition to Np-239, 1-131∼135 were, in particular, observed with different iodine chemical species obtained by the paper-electrophoretic separation of short, neutron-irradiated uranyl nitrate solution.

반도체 웨이퍼위의 Aerosol Nanoparticle 증착 장비 개발

  • 4 ~ 20 nm 범위의 입자들이 갖는 전기적 특성을 이용하기 위하여 이들 입자를 300mm 웨이퍼 위에 균일하게 증착시키는 기술을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 나노 임자의 증착 장비 개발에 필요한 증착 장비내 유동장 해석 및 온도 구배장 해석을 수행하였다. 증착 장비 입구의유량이 3 1pm, 4 nm인 경우, 입자의 확산력만을 고려하였을 때, 대부분의 입자들은 웨이퍼 표면이 아닌 벽면으로의 부착이 98% 정도 일어났다. 그러나 입자의 열영동 및 전기영동을 고려한 경우, 100% 웨이퍼 표면에 증착되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 입자의 확산력 이외의 외력(열영동, 전기영동)을 이용하면 웨이퍼 표면에의 증착 효율을 상승시킬 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

CNT and CNF reinforced carbon fiber hybrid composites by electrophoresis deposition (전기영동법에 의한 탄소나노튜브 및 탄소나노섬유 강화 탄소섬유 하이브리드 복합재료)

  • In order to increase the electrical conductivity and the mechanical properties of carbon fabric composites, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were deposited on carbon fabrics by anodic and cathodic electrophoretic deposition (EPD) processes. In the cathodic EPD, carbon nano-particles and nano-sized Cu particles were simultaneously deposited on the carbon fabric, which gave a synergetic effect on the enhancement of properties as well as the degree of deposition. The hybridization of carbon nano-particles and micron-sized carbon fiber significantly improved the through-the-thickness electrical conductivity. In addition, both MWCNTs and CNFs were deposited onto the carbon fabric for multi-scale hybrid composites. Multi-scale deposition improved the through-the-thickness electrical conductivity, compared to the deposition of either MWCNTs or CNFs.

  • 전기영동형 전자종이 디스플레이의 새로운 소재로써 $C_{60}$(fullerene)와 같은 나노 입자를 포함하는 새로운 전기영동 입자를 제조하였다. 본 연구에서는 안정제로 poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)(PVP)를 사용하여 fullerene을 포함하는 styrene emulsion을 안정화 한 후 라디칼 중합을 통해 fullerene이 포함된 polystyrene microemulsion particles을 제조 합으로써 입자의 분산안정성을 높이고 전기영동에 따른 입자의 움직임을 최적화하도록 하였다. 이 실험에서는 fullerene의 양에 따라 제조된 입자의 크기와 입자 분포를 관찰하였다. 입자의 크기와 입자 분포는 주사형 전자현미경 (SEM) 을 이용하여 확인하였다. 또한 fullerene-PS 입자의 구조 분석과 특성평가를 위해서 FT-IR를 측정하였고, 입자의 열적 성질을 위해 TGA를 측정하였다.

  • 마이크로칩 형태에서의 모세관 전기영동과 전류법을 이용하여 디옥시리보핵산(DNA) 단편들의 분리 검출하는 실험을 하였다. 마이크로 채널이 형성된 PDMS(polydimethylsiloxane)와 금 전극이 형성된 유리 기판을 접합하여 마이크로칩을 제작하였다. 20V/cm의 전계를 인가하여 100bp-1.5kbp 길이의 DNA 단편을 모세관 전기영동 하였을 때 250초내에 분리 검출되는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) isozyme of the four strains of Drosophila melanogaster in Korea was studied by the starch gel electrophoresis and the results are given below: 1. The numbers of bands, staining intensity and mobility are considerably variable in the three strains, Chunchun, Jinju and Sinchon-Seoul, but relatively uniform in the Taijun strain. 2. It is suggested that the Taijun strain may be homogeneous and the other three strains, on the contrary, heterogeneous for the ADH constitution. 3. The electrophoretic patterns are observed to be different between males and females in all strains used which is hard to intereret. 4. The starch gel electrophoresis is to have a resolving power superior to cellulose acetate electrophoresis.

  • A large number of fossil plants were collected from the Lower Cretaceous Youngdong Group in the Youngdong area of Chungcheongbug-do, Korea. Youngdong flora consists of 5 genera and 6 species, such as Frenelopsis cf. alata, Pseudofrenelopsis cf. parceramosa, P. cf. varians, Brachyphyllum cf. vulgare, Pagiophyllum sp., and Classostrobus sp., including the male and female cones of Pseudofrenelopsis first occurred in the study area. All of them belong to conifers of Cheirolepidiaceae. It is presumed that Youngdong flora might have flourished under the arid subtropical climate during the middle-late Early Cretaceous.

Electrophoretic Patterns of Sarcoplasmic Proteins in Mid-West Korean Sea Fishes by Thin Layer Polyacrylamide Gel Isoelectrofocusing (등전점 전기영동에 의한 서해산 해산어의 근형단백질의 전기영동에 관한 연구)

  • In order to identify hard distinct 12 fish species(shiba shrimp Metapenaeus joyneri, fleshy shrimp Penaeus orientalis, ridgetail prawn Palaemon carinicauda, yellow croaker Pseudosciaena manchurica, croaker Niber albiflora, Colichthyes fragilis, brown sole Limanda herzensteini, frog flounder Pleuronichthys cornutrs, Areliscus rhomaleus, stone flounder Kareius bicoloratus, harvest fish Pampus argenteus, flag fish Goniistius zonatus) by seeing with naked eye in Kunsan coastal area, sarcoplasmic protein in the supernatant was used for isoelectric focusing. For getting supernatant, fish muscle tissue was blended with two times deionized water and centrifuged (at $4^{\circ}C$, 12,000rpm for 15min). Isoelectric focusing of sarcoploasmic protein carried out on a LKB Multiphor II using polyacrylamide gel plate (2mm thickness, pH $3.5~10^{\circ}C$, pH 5~8 gradient, at $10^{\circ}C$ for 1.5, 3 hours). In case of uncertain protein pattern, pH gradient was modified to narrow pH gradiet, and excuted 2-D electrophoresis using conventional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Most of fishes except yellow croaker and Collichthyes fragilis were distingushed by isoelectric focusing. The protein maps of 2-D electrophoresis for analyzing two protein bands at aimilar positions(pH 5, 6) between the two fish species showed the diffeences of the estimated molecular weights, 11,700(pH5.0) and 87,000(pH6.0)

  • A solution to the problems of recognizing as one spot or detection failures for complex regions, in which many spots representing proteins are overlapped and saturated, is suggested. The accumulated gradients of each point in complex regions are calculated, and the resulting accumulated gradient image segmented using watershed technique. The suggested solution show better and efficient result than existing method for spot separation, detects more protein spots hidden in the image of 2-dimensional electrophoresis, and expands the scope of prediction.

  • When two particles close to each other are in electrophoretic motion, each particle is under the influence of the non-uniform electric field generated by the other particle. Two particles may attract or repel each other due to the dielectric force depending on their positions in the non-uniform electric field. It is shown analytically that two adjusting rigid particles can form an aggregate due to the dielectric interaction. To verify the validity of the theoretical prediction, an experiment is carried out by using a microchannel. In the experiment, AC electric field is used to eliminate cumbersome electroosmotic flow. The experimental result shows that the particles form a chain-like structure, which is typically observed in electro-rheological fluid, due to the dielectric interaction.
