The Knowledge, Attitude and Behavior on the Radiation Safety Management for Dental Hygiene Major Students (치위생(학)과 학생의 방사선안전관리에 대한 지식, 태도 및 행위)

  • Objectives : This study tries to find the educational basis based on the radiation safety knowledge, attitudes and behaviors to check the level of radiation safety behavior in domestic students who study dental hygiene. Methods : The students of 3rd and 4th grades in 83 universities which have registered on the Korean University Education Council were involved, and they were given a questionnaire for this study. The questionnaire was provided via visit with 20 copies to each university (total 1660 copies), mail by post and e-mail. Among them, we analyzed only 723 copies that we can trust. The data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson's correlation using the SPSS/WIN 15.0. Results : As a result, there are correlations in the students' knowledge, attitudes and behaviors regarding the radiation safety management. It means that the education which can improve the knowledge and attitudes should be applied to increase the action level of the radiation safety. In addition, the physical environment is the most closely correlated with the individual behavior, so it will be limited to improve the behavioral levels of the radiation safety if the physical environment is not prepared. Therefore, the physical environment should be supported to enhance the level of the radiation safety activity, and to increase the individual attitude level of radiation safety. Conclusions : The knowledge level of the radiation safety management is relatively lower than the attitudes level, and the behavior level is the lowest. Therefore, the education policy of the safety behavior must be enhanced. For domestic students, the educational intervention is necessary to improve their behavioral level of radiation safety management because they will be able to reduce the amount of radiation exposure of their patients in dental care after getting a job.

A Case Study on the Development of Science Teachers PCK through development of Content Representation (CoRe) -Focusing on "Molecular Motion" for 7th grade class- (CoRe 개발 과정을 통한 과학교사의 PCK 변화에 관한 사례 연구 -중학교 1학년 "분자의 운동"을 중심으로-)

  • The purposes of this study are to examine what the participants experienced when developing Content Representation (CoRe) of "molecular motion" for the 7th grade in collaboration with experienced chemistry-trained teacher and non-chemistry-trained teacher and to investigate how the participants' PCK changed in their classes after developing CoRe. The participants were one experienced chemistry-trained teacher, two physics-trained teachers, and one researcher. The participants were selected by purposeful sampling. For this study, the discussions on developing CoRe was recorded and two physics-trained participants' classes were video-taped, and constructed/semiconstructed interviews were conducted. All data were transcribed for analysis. The participants experienced reflective thinking of their knowledge and previous classes, corrected their own misconception and clarified those conception, recognized the contents and the goals of "molecular motion" class, enhanced understanding of students' preconception during the development of CoRe. Especially, the two physics-trained teacher-participants confessed that they recognized clearly the contents and the goals of "molecular motion" class and identified their deficiency in 'particle viewpoint' in their previous classes. Their recognition was realized in the course of interaction with experienced chemistry-trained teacher. Among the components of PCK, knowledge of science curriculum was most influent on two physics-trained teacher-participants' classes, and they emphasized 'particle viewpoint' and 'molecular motion' in their classes. In addition, they introduced new teaching strategies that were discussed in the course of developing CoRe. The influence on the participants' PCK was different according to their reflective thinking on their own knowledge and previous classes and their affective characteristic. The implication of this study is that, the course of developing CoRe can promote reflective thinking that is essential for increasing teachers' professionalism and significantly influence on PCK. Especially, developing CoRe in collaboration with experienced chemistry-trained teacher and non-chemistry-trained teacher can identify deficiency in their classes and thereby, improve their classes. And, it takes time and effort to internalize the participant's recognition in their teaching practice.

A Survey on Intake of Protein Supplement of University Students Majoring in Physical Education (체육교육전공 대학생들의 단백질 보충제 섭취실태)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate intake of protein supplements by university students majoring in physical education. Intake experience rate, reasons for intake, purchasing place, effectiveness, satisfaction level, and side effects were analyzed using a questionnaire. Of 476 students, those who consumed protein supplements were 198 (41.6%). Male's intake experience rate was significantly higher than that of females, and members of health-related clubs also consumed more protein than non-members. The main purchasing place was internet shopping malls, and users obtained information from their friends or upperclassmen. The most frequently consumed protein supplement was 'WPH', and the most frequent reason for intake was 'building muscle or maintaining body shape'. For effectiveness, 'normal' was 49.0% and 'effectiveness' was 33.3%. For satisfaction, 'satisfaction' was 45.5% and 'normal' was 43.4%. The rate of side effects was 44.9%, and digestive issues such as diarrhea and indigestion were observed with high frequency. The results of this study show that education is needed for nutritional knowledge, adequate intake, and side effects of protein supplements.

  • For the past 20 years, the growth and development of university-design-educational institutes contributed to the industrial development of our country. Due to the technological fluctuation and changes in the industrial structure in the latter half of the 20th century, the enterprise is demanding professionally-oriented design manpower. The principle which appears from instances of the advanced nations is to accommodate the demands in social changes and apply them to educational design programs. In order to respond promptly to the industrial demand especially, the advanced nations adopted "multidisciplinary design education programs" to lead innovation in the area of design globally. The objective of the research consequently is to suggest an educational system and a program through which the designer can be educated to obtain complex knowledge and the technique demanded by the industry and enterprise. Nowadays in order to adapt to a new business environment, designers specially should have both the knowledge and techniques in engineering and business administration. We suggest that the IPDI, a multidisciplinary design educational system and program is made up of the coordinated operation of major classes, on-the-job training connection, educational system for research base creation, renovation design development program for the application and the synthesis of alternative proposals about the training facility joint ownership by connecting with the education of design, business administration and engineering.

Effect Assessment of Safety Education in Laboratories of Department of Dental Technology Applied of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) (TPB 이론을 적용한 치기공학 전공 대학생들의 실습실 안전교육 효과 평가)

  • Objective: This study is a quasi-experimental study by nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design, performed in order to identify whether the program developed on the basis of Ajzen(1988, 1991)'s theory of planned behavior (TPB) for predicting the safety behavior of students of department of dental technology affects intention toward safety behavior and general behavior. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify whether the safety education in laboratories in which knowledge is reinforced on the basis of the TPB theory affects safety behavior. Methodology: The theoretical framework of this study was established on the basis of the TPB by Ajzen(1988, 1991). This study was performed between May 20 and December 5, 2006, and the subjects included 101 in the experimental group and 98 in the control group, a total of 199. The experimental group was educated through six 50-minute sessions (twice a week) for three weeks. The experimental group was pretested, educated, and then asked to answer the pro-questionnaire after finishing the sixth session, but the control group was free from intervention. The research tool in this study was developed by the authors with reference to the process of tool development used in Schifter and Ajzen (1985) based on Ajzen and Fishbein(1980)'s tool development guide. Results: The data were analyzed through SPSS 14.0 version. The reliability test of attitude, subjective norm, perceived norm, intention, and behavior toward safety behavior as TPB variables was calculated of Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and general characteristics and the homogeneity test of the experimental and the control groups were analyzed through t test and $X^2$ test. According to the results of the analysis, the experiment group may be higher than the control group after the safety education in the scores of attitude, the subjective norm, the perceived norm, and the intention toward safety behavior as TPB independent variables showed no significant difference, but there was significant difference in the behavior and the knowledge. Meanwhile, according to the results of the pretest and posttest, eleven items in the experimental group and two items in the control group showed significant difference in the behaviors, and twelve in the former and four in the latter were significantly different in the knowledge. Conclusion: The safety education program developed on the basis of TPB was identified to enhance safety behavior and knowledge. Therefore, the safety education program used in this study for students of department of dental technology may be utilized as database for safety education in the department of dental technology.

Research on the Actual Condition of the radiation Safety Management(RSM) for the Educated Training of the Dental Diagnostics X-ray Generators (교육용 치과 엑스선 발생장치에 대한 방사선 안전 관리 실태 조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to offer data base for establishment of dental training x-ray generator based safety usage through surveying real radiation safety management state of radiation worker's in plan of operations that have dental training x-ray generators and use it. For it, comprehensive references were surveyed referring reports of current state of regulation technique development and domestic radiation safety evaluation and nuclear related legislation regarding radiation safety management of dental training x-ray generators. On the basis of it, questionnaires were filled in about respondent's general characteristic radiation safety manager's status current state of radiation safety management and the level of knowledge & consciousness. For the study, the survey was conducted to 224 people of radiation safety managers and university graduates training assistants and full-time professors who can treat dental training x-ray generators in education center. through this survey 95 questionnaires were used as analysis materials except the insufficient and omitted responses. As a method of analysis, the frequency and percentage were figured out with the general characteristics and safety manager's status. Chi-square test for frequency and correlation per question analysis and Pearson correlation analysis for crosslevel correlation were done with current state of radiation safety management and knowledge & consciousness level. As a result, running dental training x-ray generators was dealt with by 20's to 40's who have high education level over post undergraduate degree and major in dental hygienic. In addition, female have higher consciousness level for radiation safety management than male. Brain Activations on the Hypothesis-Generating and Hypothesis-Understanding in Pre-Service Teachers not Majoring in Biology, Pre-Service Teachers Majoring in Biology and Biologists (생물전공 및 비전공 예비교사들과 생물학자들의 가설 생성 및 이해에서 나타나는 두뇌 활성 차이)

  • We aimed to examine difference between the brain activation pattern based upon hypothesis-generating and hypothesis-understanding among the pre-service teachers not majoring in biology, the pre-service teachers majoring in biology and the biologists using fMRI. We have designed two sets of task paradigm on the biological phenomena: hypothesis-generating and hypothesis-understanding and thirty six healthy participants (twelve participants per group) performed the tasks. The result was showed that 1) there were significant differences of brain activation patterns in hypothesis-generating on the biological phenomena among three groups, 2) the left middle frontal gyrus in the part of DLPFC region was play an important roles of hypothesis-generating and make a significant differences among three groups. The superior ability of biologists were based upon the activation of middle frontal gyrus which has secondary integration of abstract information, and 3) there were no significant differences of brain activation patterns in hypothesis-understanding on the biological phenomena among three groups. These findings provided that scientist might be skillful in generating a new scientific knowledge.

산업간호교육에 관한 실태조사 - 기본 간호교육을 중심으로 -

  • 본 연구는 산업간호사의 역할 확대에 따른 교육과정의 개선 및 보수교육 프로그램의 모색을 위한 기초자료로서 기본간호교육과정에서의 산업 간호교육 실태를 파악하고자 시도되었다. 구체적으로는 첫째, 기본간호교육과정의 일반적 특성을 파악하였으며 둘째, 지역사회간호학의 학습내용을 파악하였고, 세째, 산업 간호교육실태를 분석하였다. 연구방법은 먼저 1991년 2월 18일 부터 2월 25일까지 기존 문헌을 토대로 기본 간호교육과정의 일반적 특성과 지역사회간호학의 학습내용을 파악하였고, 산업 간호교육 실태에 대해서는 2월 26일부터 3월 15일까지 전국에 있는 간호교육기관을 대상으로 작성된 조사표에 의해 전화 또는 서신으로 자료를 수집하였다. 조사 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 연구의 대상 산업간호교육 실태조사의 대상은 조사에 응답한 간호교육기관 41개교로서 '90년 현재 전국 간호교육기관의 66.1%를 차지하는 것이다. 교육과정별로는 간호대학 14개교 전문대학 27개교였고, 지역별 분포에 있어서는 대학과정 중 6개교(42.9%)가 서울에 있으며 전문대학의 경우 전남 6개교(22.2%), 경북 5개교(18.5%)의 순으로 나타났다. 2) 간호교육과정의 특성 기존의 연구결과를 토대로 교과목 분포 및 주전공 교과목의 내용을 파악하였다. 대학과정의 경우 평균 141.3학점, 전문대학의 경우 평균 120학점이 필수 이수 학점인 것으로 나타났고, 두 경우 모두 전공교육에 관한 학점이 총 이수학점 중 대학 55.5%, 전문대 57.2%를 차지하였다. 주전공 교과목 중에서는 성인간호학 및 실습, 기초간호과학 및 실험, 모아간호 및 실습, 지역사회간호학 및 실습, 정신간호 및 실습의 배당 학점이 특히 많았다. 3) 지역사회간호학의 학습내용 산업간호 교육의 기본 개념틀올 제시하고 있는 지역사회간호학은 체계이론과 Stevens의 간호이론을 토대로 개발된 모형을 중심으로 살펴 보았는데 이 모형에 따르면 산업간호는 지역사회간호 문제의 하나로 다뤄지고 있다. 4) 산업간호 교육 실태 조사 대상 학교 모두 산업간호에 관한 내용을 강의에서 다루고 있었으며, 6개 학교에서는 실습도 병행된 바 있다. 강의는 주로 전문대의 경우 3학년(22개교), 2학년(5개교)에서, 대학의 경우 모두 4학년에서 이루어졌다. 산업간호 강의의 편성형태는 36개교(87.8%)가 지역사회간호의 일부로 다루고 있었으며, 강의시간수는 5~9시간이 19개교(47.5%)로 가장 많았다. 강의시간에 주로 사용되는 교재로는 교수가 직접 작성한 참고자료나 보건학강좌, 산업보건학 등이 사용되었다. 강의내용 또한 매우 다양한 것으로 나타났는데, 특히 전문대학의 경우가 더욱 다양했으며, 전반적으로는 산업간호사업, 산업간호개념, 직업병관리가 가장 많았다. 한편 실습운영에 있어서는 산업체의 비협조 또는 거리상의 문제 등이 어려운 점으로 지적되었다. 실습대상인 업체로는 종이제조업, 제철업, 신발제조업, 전자업체, 봉제업체, 관공서, 유리제조업체가 있었고, 주로 1주일간 실습지침서를 이용한 현지 교수 중심의 지도와 1,2회의 conference에 의해 이루어졌다. 그러나, 1일 견학하는 정도로 운영하는 학교와 선택 학점으로서 3주동안 실습을 하도록 하는 경우도 있었다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 결론을 내릴 수 있겠다. 첫째, 전반적인 전공교육과 특히 지역사회간호학을 통해서 산업간호사의 업무 수행에 필요한 일반적인 능력이 길러지고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 산업간호사의 업무 중 보다 전문적인 지식과 기술을 요하는 부분에 대해서는 산업간호라는 교과를 통해 보다 체계적으로 다루어져야 할 것이다. 따라서, 이에 사용될 수 있는 교과서의 개발, 실습현장의 마련, 시간 및 학점의 증가 등이 시급히 이루어져야 하겠다.

Science-related Attitudes of the Secondary School Science Teachers in Chonbuk, Korea (전북지역 중등과학교사의 과학에 관련된 태도 조사연구)

  • We studied aspects of secondary school science teachers in the Chonbuk province concerning their science-related attitudes using the several measuring tools. We applied the multiple comparison to twelve factors at the science teachers 'backgrounds and analyzed the discrepancy in group levels. Science teachers feel half-hearted for the attitudes related to science teachers show a high correlation between the attitudes toward science and the scientific attitudes. We examined the tendency to the science-related attitudes of science teachers having various backgrounds within 5 percent differences of P-value. The contented teachers for their occupations marked higher than the other teachers in the tendency to the science-related attitudes, and the attitude-score of the science teachers graduated from regular colleges also marked higher than the teachers from the training institutes or the different majors. We have investigated the teachers just in Chonbuk province, but we should recognize that the scores in both the perception and the teachers are not improved comparing with the before-studies of Lee(1985), Park(1993), etc. As a result, the development of measuring tools which teachers can examine themselves as their features is needed and the educational systems to specialize the science education should be improved through the various programs for teachers' training courses.

Research on the Structure of 4 Panel Comic Strips and Rhetoric Expression for the Education of Comic Contents: with of Kyunghyangsinmoon (만화콘텐츠 교육을 위한 네칸만화 구조와 수사법 연구: 경향신문 <장도리>를 중심으로)

  • We can say that there are several majors in the course of cartoon education of college; cartoon, manpyung, 4 panel comic strips, editorial cartoon, webtoon and so on. Among them, this study starts with concrete question; "How can we encourage students to understand 4 panel comic strips better in the educational course of 4 panel comic strips?" 4 panel comic strips divided into two groups, depending on the materials. The first is daily cartoon which depicts the emotion in daily life. The second is editorial cartoon which deals with the problems of society in the ironical and witty way. Judging from my own thoughts that it would be better in the understanding and analysis of structures to take editorial cartoon in which materials are confined to social problems, this study treats rhetoric expression and structures of 4 panel comic strips. Introduction, development, turn and conclusion of "Jangdori" on Kyunghyangsinmoon are good materials for this study. So, "Jangdori" is in the center of this study. The objective of this study is to provide knowledge in creating 4 panel comic strips with the understanding the area of 4 panel comic strips through the analysis of the rhetoric expression and structures of this field. Even though this study has a limit, no access to daily 4 panel comic strips, I hope that this study would be a little help in any places in which the education of 4 panel comic strips is needed as a part of a course of cartoon in college.
