Site Suitability Analysis for Riverbank Filtration Using Game Theory (게임이론을 활용한 강변여과 개발 적지선정)

  • The tap water supply in Korea mainly depends on the surface water. However, the advanced water purification process becomes a necessity due to the deterioration of surface water quality and the risk of accidental spill. High cost of water treatment and public concerns make the decision makers turn to riverbank filtration as an alternative to the surface water. Riverbank filtration has been employed for water supply in many developed countries for more than 150 years. In Korea, riverbank filtration has drawn attention since 1990s as a supply source having potential to stably meet the ever-increasing water demand. Some cities located in the Nakdong River Basin are currently supplying water through riverbank filtration. This work studies the site suitability analysis for riverbank filtration using game theory. Theory of games, which is a branch of applied mathematics used in social sciences (most notably economics), biology, engineering and computer science, was applied to candidate locations for the selection of riverbank filtration site. We proposed a policy game model as a new method adopting a probabilistic approach. The model developed turned out to be an effective tool for site selection.

  • 우리나라의 농업은 주곡의 지속적인 자급기반을 마련하고 이제 단순한 농사형태에서 벗어나 새로운 소득작목을 개발하고 합리적인 경영개선을 통하여 소득을 높이는 상업농시대에 접어들게 되었다. 따라서 상업농시대에는 농업도 새로운 기술을 바탕으로 질 높은 농산물을 안정적으로 생산공급할 수 있는 기술의 확보가 더욱 요구되고 있다. 최근 농산물수입개방 시대에 접어들게 되면서 우리 농산물도 국제경쟁력향상을 위한 품질향상 및 새로운 소득작물의 개발이 절실히 요구되는 시점에 와있다. 여러 지방지치단체에서 그 지방에 알맞은 소득작물을 개발하여 많은 소득을 올리고 있는 사례를 많이 볼 수 있다. 예로서 보성의 녹차, 무안의 무화과, 구례의 오이 등이 대표적인 예라고 할 수 있다. 여러 농업연구기관에서도 과학적인 토양연구로 세부정밀토양조사를 실시하고 작물재배의 부적지에 대해서는 토양개량방법을 연구하고 있으며 그에 따른 시비추천과 소득작물의 적지적작추천을 하고 있다. 국내에서도 GIS의 발전 및 RS의 발전과 더불어 친환경농업의 일환으로 정밀농업분야에 많은 관심이 집중되고 있다. 정밀농업은 농업생산기술 분야에서 아직 생소한 접근방법으로서 여기에서는 지구측위시스템(GPS)와 지리정보시스템(GIS), 원격탐사(RS)기법들이 많이 응용되고 있다. 또한 농업의 1차(식량생산)적인 목적에서 2차, 3차(소득증대 및 부가가치 증대)적인 목적으로 변화되고 있다. 각 지자체에서 그 지역에 적합한 농산물 재배를 위한 재배단지 확산방안 연구가 진행중에 있으며, 과거 토양속성인자를 가지고 재배적지 선정을 해왔으나, 본 연구에서는 GIS와 RS을 중첩하여 적지선정에 관한 최적의 시스템을 구현하였다. 이런 적지 선정을 통하여 유기농업의 실현을 도모하여 소비자의 욕구에 맞는 작물 생산 및 농촌관광단지 조성을 통해 부가가치증대 및 소득증대를 꾀함으로 농촌문제 해결에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구를 통해 GIS 와 RS의 기술이 농촌분야에 더 효율적으로 적용될 것으로 기대되며, 농업기술센터를 통한 정보제공을 함으로써 대농민 서비스 및 농업기관의 위상이 제고 될 것으로 기대된다.

  • The assessment/evaluation of land use suitability is an important part of land use planning. In this paper, we developed. The Expert System for a suitability analysis including the function of data storage, analysis, assessment and display by using Borland C++ Language and could suggest the following results in the suitability analysis to select a site for an industrial complex using this system. 1. With the increase in volume and variety of geo-spatial data now available, it has become necessary to find more efficient ways of storing this data. This report presents the Quadtree structure, as a method of gaining significant savings over conventional raster processing in data storage. 2. In order to get the criteria of suitability analysis, the opinions of specialists, administrative officers and citizens were collected by a questionnaire, and used to calculate the weight of geo-spatial data. Also, The Expert System, which we developed, was designed to do overlay and spatial analysis, as well as reflect the various opinions we collected in the questionnaire. The Expert System is expected to be used in other land use planning.

Site Suitability Analysis for Bank Filtration Using AHP (AHP를 이용한 강변여과 적지 분석)

  • The lack of water resources is becoming a serious issue throughout the world. The water shortage in Korea is expected to increase. Groundwater can be a solution to this matter in some places. Especially, bank filtrations are known to be advantageous over conventional reserviors, even if they have some drawbacks such as their limited location for development and small sizes. The AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) is an analytical tool, supported by simple mathematics, which enables one to explicitly rank tangible and intangible factors against each other for the purpose of resolving conflicts or setting priorities. In order to check the applicability of AHP to the evaluation of bank filtration sites, four candidate locations were chosen. They have suffered from problems like water-supply shortage and delayed dam construction. The analysis results are compared with those of the previous study using a conventional method. It is believed that the developed method can a basis for reasonable decision-making regarding bank filtration development.

  • Selecting proper location for complex facility with special purpose need comprehensive consideration on the condition and surrounding environment. Especially, in case of living space for human, lighting, ventilation, efficiency in land use, etc. are important elements. Diverse 3D analysis through 3D topography modeling and virtual simulation is necessary for this. Now, it can be processed with relatively inexpensive cost since high resolution satellite image essential in topography modeling is provided with domestic technology through Arirang No. 2 satellite (KOMPSAT2). In this study, several candidate sites is selected for complex planning with special purpose and analysis on proper location was performed using the 3D topography modeling and land information. For this, land analysis, land price calculation, slope analysis and aspect analysis have been carried out. As a result of arranging the evaluation index for each candidate site and attempting the quantitative evaluation, proper location could be selected efficiently and reasonably.

A study on suitability selection of artificial reef by GIS (GIS을 활용한 인공어초의 적지 선정에 관한 연구)

  • This study carried out in order to investigate the most basic elements of suitability selection methods for composition of artificial reef. Acquired data by in-situ measurements and satellite remote sensing analysed in applying GIS. To identify the characteristic of marine environment around the West Sea, the South Sea and the East Sea of Korea, physical conditions-seabed sediment and depth, biological conditions-chlorophyll-${\alpha}$, chemical conditions-Sea Surface Temperature(SST) and DO were used. Suitable sites for artificial reef are selected Taean Peninsula, Geoje, Wando, Pohang, Seocheon, etc. From now on, it will be helpful to effectively utilize artificial reef as well as construct synthetic database. It is also expected to use basic data for artificial reef facilities management.

The amount of water shortage could amount to 1.8 and 2.6 billion cubic meters in 2011 and 2020, respectively. Groundwater can be a solution to this matter in some places. Especially, underground dams are known to be advantageous over conventional dams, evert if they have some drawbacks such as their limited location for development and small sizes. The analytic hierarchy process(AHP) is an analytical tool, supported by simple mathematics, which enables one to explicitly rank tangible and intangible factors against each other for the purpose of resolving conflicts or setting priorities. In order to check the applicability of AHP to the evaluation of underground dam sites, lour candidate locations were chosen. They have suffered from problems like water-supply shortage and delayed dam construction. The analysis results are compared with those of the previous study using a conventional method. It is believed that the developed method can provide central or local government with a basis for reasonable decision-making regarding underground dam development.
