  • 국내외 에너지 정책에 힘입어 LED 조명 보급이 늘어나면서 관련된 광 무선 기술이 주목받고 있다. 적외선 무선통신 포트를 장착한 상용 제품들이 수 년 전부터 공급되었다. 이들이 시장을 주도하지는 못했지만 LED 조명을 이용한 가시광 무선통신은 조명의 커버리지 안에서 안정된 출력과 채널 환경이 매력적이다. 하지만 조명 기능을 우선적으로 유지시켜야 하는 상황에서 광 신호를 다루는 해결책이 충분하지 않아 고속 통신에 제약이 따른다. LED 조명 융합 기술을 무선통신 기술 관점으로 접근하는 새로운 연구가 다양하게 이루어지고 있다. 무선통신은 RF 기반의 시스템이 대부분이지만, 무선 패킷 수요 증가를 고려하여 새로운 주파수 자원에 의한 근거리 무선 보조 수단으로 광 무선통신이 제안되고 있다. 이에 관하여 LED 조명과 연계한 광 무선통신 기술의 현황과 전망을 기술하였다.

  • In remote gaze tracking system using infra-red LEDs, calibrating the position of reflected light is essential for computing pupil position in captured images. However, there are limitations in reducing errors because variable locations of head and unknown radius of cornea are involved in the calibration process as constants. This study purposes a gaze tracking method based on pupil-corneal reflection that does not require user-calibration. Our goal is to eliminate the correction process of glint positions, which require a prior calibration, so that the gaze calculation is simplified.

  • 마이크로파 방전 무전극 황전등은 마그네트론에서 발생된 마이크로파로 이원자 황을 여기하여 방출되는 빛을 조명에 사용하는 차세대 조명기구이다. 이원자 황에서 방출된 빛은 자외선과 적외선이 매우 적고 가시광선 영역에서 연속적인 분광 분포를 가지며 발광 효율은 100[1m/W] 이상으로 매우 높다 본 논문에서는 전력연구원에서 국내 최초로 개발한 마이크로파 여기형 무전극 방전등을 소개한다. 방전구의 회전, 방전전력과 압력의 조정, 및 Na 등의 첨가를 통해 전등의 상관색온도를 가변(2,500 - 10,000 K 범위)하였다. 아울러 연색성 평가수를 90 이상으로 개선 할 수 있음을 보였다.

  • Highly concentrated sunlight obtained from a solar concentrator mounted on a solar tracker can be divided into the infrared and visible region before it is actually applied. That is, solar rays are directed toward a unit optically separating sunlight into the infrared and visible region by a hot mirror as they impinge on the surface of a secondary reflector. The Infrared rays can be utilized for thermoacoustic applications while visible rays can be utilized for indoor lighting. This work introduces the separation of two different kinds of light; sunlight and artificial light. As for the artificial light, its wavelength extended from 400m to 720m for the visible region and 620m to 940m for the infrared region. Comparatively, a series of tests performed on sunlight revealed its separation in the visible region from 460m to 680m whereas from 620m to 940m for the artificial light.

  • This thesis studies development of a triple pyroelectric Infrared flame detector to have appropriate reaction characteristics with proper operational features in various and radiant energy characteristics of fire sources, and to contribute to minimize the losses of human lives and properties by detecting fire in very early stage to restrict the spread of fire.

  • LED(light emitting diode)는 반도체의 P-N 접합 다이오드의 일종으로, 순방향으로 전압이 걸릴 때 단파장 광이 방출 되는 현상인 전기발광 효과를 이용한 화합물 반도체 소자의 일종으로 발광 다이오드라고도 한다. LED는 화합물 반도체의 화합물의 종류 및 조성비를 조절하여 적외선, 자외선과 빨강에서 보라에 이르는 모든 가시광선이 구현 가능하고, 소비전력이 기존의 광원에 비해 우수한 특성을 가지고 있어, 일반 조명, 산업용 조명, 전광판, TV의 BLU 등 여러 분야에 걸쳐 다양하게 이용되고 있다.

  • This paper presents face recognition based on the fusion of visible image and thermal infrared (IR) texture estimated from the face image in the visible spectrum. The proposed face recognition scheme uses a multi- layer neural network to estimate thermal texture from visible imagery. In the training process, a set of visible and thermal IR image pairs are used to determine the parameters of the neural network to learn a complex mapping from a visible image to its thermal texture in the low-dimensional feature space. The trained neural network estimates the principal components of the thermal texture corresponding to the input visible image. Extensive experiments on face recognition were performed using two popular face recognition algorithms, Eigenfaces and Fisherfaces for NIST/Equinox database for benchmarking. The fusion of visible image and thermal IR texture demonstrated improved face recognition accuracies over conventional face recognition in terms of receiver operating characteristics (ROC) as well as first matching performances.

  • In order to produce a variety of lighting effects most of the modem museums use various light sources in the same space. This indicates, in other words, that each item on display is being exposed to a different lighting environment. There are required, however, different conditions for optimum environments for displaying and preserving items, respectively. In this research visible rays, ultraviolet rays and infrared rays measured in the show cases and display rooms of the National Museum of Korea were analyzed to assess its lighting environment.

  • This paper proposes a hand posture recognition with pattern-matching method, embedding a simple paradigm using an Infrared sensor array. Our pattern-matching based hand posture recognition is specification supports fun and the user experience when communicating between humans and telecommunication devices, including robots. Our non-contact type input device (IR-Sensor Array) transmits commands to control mobile robots. It can also control Google Earth’s map searching programs, and other applications.

Real Time Discrimination of 3 Dimensional Face Pose (실시간 3차원 얼굴 방향 식별)

  • In this paper, we introduce a new approach for real-time 3D face pose discrimination based on active IR illumination from a monocular view of the camera. Under the IR illumination, the pupils appear bright. We develop algorithms for efficient and robust detection and tracking pupils in real time. Based on the geometric distortions of pupils under different face orientations, an eigen eye feature space is built based on training data that captures the relationship between 3D face orientation and the geometric features of the pupils. The 3D face pose for an input query image is subsequently classified using the eigen eye feature space. From the experiment, we obtained the range of results of discrimination from the subjects which close to the camera are from 94,67%, minimum from 100%, maximum.
