  • The forest of Choksangsansong area was studied to investigate vegetational structure with twenty-five plots(20m$\times$25m). Relative importance values, DBH class distribution, species, diversity indices, DCA ordination and TWINSPAN classification were used for vegetational structure analysis. Quercus mongolica, Carpinus cordata, Quercus serrata and Cornus controversa were appeared to be dominant species in each plot and dominant species in the Choksangsansong area was Quercus mongolica. The forest of Choksangsansong area was classified into four groups and showed seral stage from Quercus mongolica to Carpinus cordata. Vegetational succession in the Choksangsansong area shall be accelerated to moist and shade tolerant species due to cool and humid climatic condition by upper dam construction of the Mujuyangspalchonso (pumping up power station).

  • An experimental study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of the showcase refrigeration system during frosting and defrosting process. Test showcase was constructed with a cooling capacity of 3RT including 3 evaporators. The dynamic characteristics of the system under frosting and defrosting conditions were investigated. Refrigerant temperature and pressure of the system, dry bulb and wet bulb temperature of air passing through the evaporator, air flow rate and compressor power were measured.

  • For the applications in the ultra-large-scale-integration (ULSI) metallization processing copper thin films have been prepared by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) technology on TiN/Si substrates. The films have been deposited with varying the experimental conditions of substrate temperatures and copper source vapor pressures. The films were then annealed in a vacuum condition after the deposition and the annealing effect to the electrical conductivity of the films was measured. The grain size and the crystallinity of the films were observed to be increased by the post annealing and the electrical conductivity was also increased. The best electrical property of the copper film was obtained by in-situ annealing treatment at above 40$0^{\circ}C$ for the sample prepared at 18$0^{\circ}C$ of the substrate temperature.

  • During the defrosting process, the temperature in the cabinet of a showcase becomes high as compared to the setting point, which is not desirable for stored foods or materials. It is necessary to develop a more efficient defrosting method to prevent large temperature fluctuation. In this study, the performance of a showcase refrigeration system with three evaporators is investigated by employing a hot-gas bypass defrosting technology in the system under frosting and defrosting conditions. The operating characteristics are compared with those for the on-off defrosting method that has been widely used in current products. As a result, the hot-gas bypass defrosting method shows higher refrigerating capacity and less temperature fluctuation than the on-off method under frosting/defrosting conditions, while the power input is relatively high for the hot-gas bypass method.

  • Pb isotopic compositions were determined from the ore deposits of Beonam, Dongjin, Jeoksang and Bukchang mines distributed within Jeolabuk-do. As a result, individual mine shows significantly different values of Pb isotopic compositions from each other. Pb isotopic values of the Beonam, Bukchang and Dongjin mines altogether from linear variation, but it is too steep to represent their formation age. Instead, such trend suggests that these ore leads were originated from binary mixing. Precambrian basement rocks and Mesozoic granitoids are suggested for such two end-members. The relative contribution of lead from each source seems to be quite different for each ore deposit, implying that the circulation of the ore-forming fluid was very localized when they were formed. In the case of Dongjin mine it seems significant portion of the ore leads were originated from the basement rocks, which suggests that related igneous rock seems to have acted as heat source to generate circulation of the fluid rather than the source of the ore-forming elements.

  • The distribution pattern of macrobenthic polychaete worms and their feeding guild structures were investigated along the coastal region off Kunsan (southeastern Yellow Sea) during the winter season. The polychaete worms, the most dominant infauna, comprised 54 species in 30 families and showed their mean density of 300. indir./m$^2$). Dominant species in the study area were Stermaspis scutata, Lumbrineris cruzensis, Notomastus sp., Nephtys polybranchia, Praxillella affinis. Polychaeres were assigned to 12 feeding guilds and BMX (burrowing, motile, muscular pharynx) was the most dominant feeding guild (26%). Muddy sediments sustained more polychaete worms which showed burrowing (65%), motile (72%), and non-tentaculate strategies (92%), while sandy sediments contained more filter feeders (32%) and sessile (63%), and more tentaculate worms (49%). The sediment grain size was suggested to be the prime factor selecting the polychaete feeding guild.

  • This study analyzes whether Income Contingent Loan achieves the policy goal of reducing the burden on higher education expenses with the emphasis on the repayment structure of the loan system and suggest ways to improve the incumbent policy. The study found that the voluntary repayment amount of the loan is much higher than the mandatory repayment amount. Therefore, various policy improvement measures are needed to activate the original purpose of the loan. We proposes improvements to the repayment, such as diversification of the repayment base rate, introduction of the loan integration, and analysis of loan default probability. In addition, this study has policy and academic implications in that it has suggested policy improvement measures by analyzing various overseas cases.

  • This study was conducted to determine the minimal processing characteristics of four vegetables (brown mustard, kale, red beet and red lettuce) for wrapping (Ssam). Prior to evaluation, the vegetable leaves were cut, washed, and packaged. The texture, weight loss, browning index, pH, gas concentrations ($O_2$ and $CO_2$), microbial growth, and organoleptic qualities of the leaves were assessed at $10^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. The cutting strength of red beet was significantly different among leaves. The initial springiness of brown mustard was the lowest (0.98%). The weight loss varied between 0.24 to 4.77%, pH ranged from 6.00 to 6.95, and browning index increased to 0.95 during storage. Changes of gas composition were lower in cut leaf than whole leaf. Aerobic bacteria (4.9-8.0 log CFU/g), yeast (not detected), mold (-3.5 log CFU/g), and total coliforms (5.0-8.0 log CFU/g) were assessed in the samples. Thus, overall quality of kale and red beet leaves with minimal processing showed satisfactory results when stored for 7 days.
