A Study on Characteristics of Crassulacean Acid Metablism in Leaves and Stems of Portulaca oleracea L. (쇠비름(Portulaca oleracea L.)에 있어서 잎과 줄기의 돌나물 과형 유기산대사(CAM)의 비교)

  • Diurnal acid fluctuations, stomatal resistance, and morphology and anatomy were investigated in leaves and stems P. oleracea L. growing under the natural environmental condition. A CAM-like pattern of acid fluctuation was exhibited not in leaves of the young purslane but in its stems. Defoliated stems showed a decreased in diurnal changes of total acidity as compared with normal stems. Excised stems stored in continuous darkness exhibited diurnal acid rhythms, and they showed light deacidifications for three days. Kranz-type arrangement was observed in leaves, but not in stems. Micrography of cross sections of stems showed cells with relatively large vaculoles and a few chloroplasts. The number of stomata was 3,275cm-2 in leaves, while the stomata could not be observed in stems. Stomatal resistance was high at night and low in daytime in leaves of the young purslane, and the range of its value was 5~40 sec.$\textrm{cm}^{-1}$. But stomatal resistance in leaves of the water-stressed plant was comparratively high in day time, and its value was 30 sec.$\textrm{cm}^{-1}$. The result of these studies showed the possibility that the stem of P.oleracea L. possesses CAM under certain stressed conditions.

  • The experiments were carried out to investigate the selection effects on the drug resistance to Agrepto in Xanthomonas oryzae, the causal bacteria of rice bacterial leaf blight. The results obtained were as follows. 1, The Agrepto was stable at the heat treatment of $105^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes, when the drug was added in the media. 2. The local isolates of the bacteria, 75-6 and 75-9, showed the different resistante reaction, when they were selected by the Agrepto contained media which concentrations of 10r9/m1 and 100ug/ml. 3. The individuals shelving high degree of resistance, which can grow on the media contained 10,000ug/m1 of Agrepto, could selected by the concentrations as low as 10ug/ml and 100ug/m1, in one generation. 4. The highly resistant isolates which selected by 3-stepwise selections such as 100ug/ml, 3,000ug/ml and 10,000/ml plots, showed nearly normal growth at the media contained 100ug/ml of Agrepto 5. When the isolate 75-9 was selected at the 100ug/m1 of concentration, showed various degrees of resistance, indicating that the isolate may be composed of resistance groups that lower than 500ug/ml, between 500-1,000ug/ml and 1,000-3,000ug/ml, to the Agrept.

Flexural Design of Double Composite Box Girder over Interior Pier by LRFD Method (LRFD법에 의한 이중합성 박스거더 최대부모멘트 단면 휨 설계)

  • Flexural design of double composite box girder over the interior pier for three-span continuous bridge was performed by the LRFD method. The maximum span length of the continuous bridge ranged from 80m to 120m and the relative ratio of the span length was assumed to be 1:1.25:1. The girder section was designed for the strength limit state and service limit state with additional design check for constructibility. Before the bottom concrete and compression flange showed a complete composite action, the buckling of lower compression flange was checked. The flexural stiffness and flexural resistance characteristics for the section and for the constituent members such as tension flange, compression flange, and web were analyzed for different thicknesses of the bottom concrete on top of the compression flange. The effect of the distribution ratio of steel between the top and bottom flanges was investigated by analyzing ductility behavior and stress distribution through the girder's depth for several different relative area ratios of steel between the top and bottom flanges. It was found that a total amount of 15% of steel can be saved by applying the double composite system compared with that of the conventional composite system.

Evaluation of Bottom Ash on the Application for the Aggregate of Concrete (콘크리트용 골재로서의 Bottom Ash 활용성 평가)

  • In this study, as one of solutions associated with the shortage of treatment area of industrial waste and the containment of its harmful components, the bottom ash which is known to be by-products of thermoelectric power plant was selected and its applicability for aggregate of concrete mixture was measured. Hardness test, sieve analysis, water-absorption test and SEM analysis were carried out to investigate the possibility of using bottom ash as a replacement of coarse and fine aggregate. Chemical analyses such as ignition loss test and X-ray incidence were carried out also. In addition, values for slump, strength, permeability, freeze and thaw, and carbonation were evaluated in terms of effects of replacement ratio of bottom ash. As the results, it was found that, though bottom ash is in short supply of fine particles and is in lack of cohesion, these problems can be solved by partially mixing with natural aggregates or improving in a process of production. In addition, bottom ash has not only advantage of durability but also acquirement of general compressive strengths in case that a certain proportion of natural aggregate is applied to mixture, in spite that unit water or chemical admixture should be increased to acquire good workability due to plenty of porosity.

An Experimental Study on the Distributions of Residual Head and Discharge Rate along Collector Well Laterals of a Model Riverbed Filtration (하상여과의 집수관 모형에서 잔류수두와 유입율 분포에 관한 실험연구)

  • As a way to the optimum design of the collector well lateral in riverbed filtration, experiments were performed using sand tanks which were connected to form a model lateral system. Measured were the residual hydraulic heads along the laterals, the discharge rates at each sand tank and the production rates at the collector well while the model laterals were operated with various scenarios of changing parameters including water level of the collector well, the lateral diameter and length, and the hydraulic conductivity of the sand. Results showed that riverbed filtration could be more efficient when the resistance in the lateral was weak compared with the resistance in the sand, which was indicated by the more flattened distribution of the residual hydraulic heads along the lateral. Results also showed that the discharge rate increased exponentially with the approach to the collector well, and that the exponent increased as the lateral diameter decreased and/or the hydraulic conductivity of the sand increased. It was also seen that the well production increased with the increase in the lateral length and diameter although the marginal productivity decreased. It could be concluded that the axial flow velocity in the lateral was an important factor governing the efficiency of a lateral in riverbed filtration and that the maximum entrance velocity to the collector well, over which the efficiency decreased drastically, was about 1 m/sec under the conditions of this study.

Development of Trans-Admittance Scanner (TAS) for Breast Cancer Detection (유방암 검출을 위한 생계 어드미턴스 스캐너의 개발)

  • This paper describes a trans-admittance scanner for breast cancer detection. A FPGA-based sinusoidal waveform generator produces a constant voltage. The voltage is applied between a hand-held electrode and a scan probe placed on the breast. The scan probe contains an 8x8 array of electrodes that are kept at the ground potential. Multi-channel precision digital ammeters using the phase-sensitive demodulation technique were developed to measure the exit current from each electrode in the array. Different regions of the breast are scanned by moving the probe on the breast. We could get trans-admittance images of resistor and saline phantoms with an anomaly inside. The images provided the information on the depth and location of the anomaly. In future studies, we need to improve the accuracy through a better calibration method. We plan to test the scanner's ability to detect a cancer lesion inside the human breast.

Tension Lap Splice Length in High-Strength Concrete Flexural Members (고강도 콘크리트 휨부재의 인장 겹침이음길이에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the test results of total 24 beam-end specimens to investigate the effect of high-strength concrete and cover thickness on the development resistance capacity in tensile lap splice length regions. Based on bond characteristics that an increase in concrete strength results in higher bond stress and shortening of the transfer length, cracking behavior that thin cover thickness induced a splitting crack easily and brittle crack propagation, current design code that development length provisions as uniform bond stress assumption was investigated apply as it. The results showed that as higher strength concrete was employed, not only development resistance capacity was influenced by cover thickness, but also more sufficient safety factor reserved shorter than the lap splice length provision in current design code. From experimental research results, high-strength concrete development length was not inverse ratio of $\sqrt{f_{ck}}$ but directly inverse of $f_{ck}$, and it is also said that there is a certain limit length of the embedded steel over which the assumption of uniform bond stress distribution is valid specially for high-strength concrete not having a same embed length such as normal-strength concrete in current design criteria hypothesis.

  • 정보시스템 기획(IS planning)은 경영환경의 변화로부터 야기되는 조직의 정보요구 를 제대로 파악함으로써 새로운 정보시스템의 구축이나 실행과정에 반영하는 중요한 과업중 의 하나이다. 하지만, 아직까지 정보요구를 반영한 정보시스템 기획유형에 관한 연구나 정 보시스템 기획의 효과성에 관한 영향에 대한 실증적인 연구가 없었다. 그리하여, 본 연구에 서는 기업의 경쟁력 강화 목표를 달성하기 위해 필요한 정보시스템의 효율적인 관리와 활용 을 위하여 정보시스템 기획에 관한 상황 이론적 접근을 시도하였다. 본 연구는 과업환경을 중심으로 발생하는 정보요구의 유형에 따라 정보시스템 계획을 어떻게 추진하는 것이 바람 직한 것인지를 파악하고, 정보시스템을 기획 시 정보요구 수준과의 적합성(fitness)에 따라 정보시스템 기획의 효과성은 어떻게 달라지는 지를 파악하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구 에서 사용된 Construct와 변수들은 기존의 정보시스템 기획관련 문헌을 이용하였다. 본 연 구를 위하여 국내 매출액 1000대 기업을 대상으로 설문지를 우송하였으며, 그 중 187부가 회수되었다. 자료분석의 결과, 정보요구 수준과 정보시스템 기획유형간의 관련성은 긍정적 으로 관련되어 있었으며, 정보요구 수준에 따른 기획의 효과성에는 차이가 없었으나, 정보 시스템 기획유형에 따른 기획의 효과성은 유의한 차이가 있었다. 특히, 정보요구 수준과 정 보시스템 기획유형간의 적합성에 의한 정보시스템 기획의 효과성에 대한 t-test결과는 적합 한 조직(fit organization)보다는 적합하지 않은 조직(unfit organization)의 성과가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.성 형질전환 계통의 식물체 내에서의 바이러스 증식 및 이동과 관련된 저항성 기작, 여러 가지 PVY 계통에 대한 저항성 유무, 수량, 생육 특성 및 주요 화학 성분 함량 등을 발표하고자 한다.-glucose로 구성된 다당류 이었다. 아미노산은 Asp 및 Glu의 산성 아미노산과 Ala, Leu 등의 함량이 높게 나타났으며, 비알칼리 추출물에서 Ser과 Thr의 함량이 높게 나타났다. 다당류 T-AS는 평균 분자량이 2,000 kD와 12kD에서 주 peak를 나타냈으며, 수용성 분획의 평균 분자량은 12kD이고 비수용성 분획은 36~2,000 kD의 평균 분자량 분포를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. IR과 NMR 분석 결과 890 cm-1에서 흡수 peak를 나타내어 $\beta$-(1,3)0glucan과 $\beta$-(1,6)-glucan의 구조를 갖는 다당류로 확인 되었다. T-AS 분획은 C:H:O:N의 함량비가 38.9:5.7:49.6:1.84%이며, 이 물질의 융점은 163 $^{\circ}C$로 연한 갈색을 나타낸다. 분리된 GLG의 항암활성 기전 규명을 위해, in vivo 항암실험, 항보체 활성능, 항체 생성능, serum protein 분비능, 대식세포의 탐식능과 활성능 및 세포간 물질 분비 등의 상관관계를 조사하였다. 다당류 GLG 분획물들 가운데 항보체의 활성이 높았던 분획은 sarcome 180에 대한 항암 활성이 높게 나타났다. 다당류 T-AS의 보체 활성화 기작은 classical과 alternative complement pathway의 양 경로를 통해 활성화 되었다. A Study on Analysis Technique for Chloride Penetration in Cracked Concrete under Combined Deterioration (복합열화에 노출된 균열부 콘크리트 내의 염화물 침투 해석 기법에 대한 연구)

  • Recently, analysis researches on durability are focused on chloride attack and carbonation due to increased social and engineering significance. Generally, chloride penetration and carbonation occur simultaneously except for in submerged condition and chloride behavior in carbonated concrete is evaluated to be different from that in normal concrete. Furthermore, if unavoidable crack occurs in concrete, it influences not only single attack but also coupled deterioration more severely. This is a study on analysis technique with system dynamics for chloride penetration in concrete structures exposed to coupled chloride attack and carbonation through chloride diffusion, permeation, and carbonation reaction. For the purpose, a modeling for chloride behavior considering diffusion and permeation is performed through previous models for early-aged concrete such as MCHHM (multi component hydration heat model) and MPSFM (micro pore structure formation). Then model for combined deterioration is developed considering changed characteristics such as pore distribution, saturation and dissociation of bound chloride content under carbonation. The developed model is verified through comparison with previous experimental data. Additionally, simulation for combined deterioration in cracked concrete is carried out through utilizing previously developed models for chloride penetration and carbonation in cracked concrete. From the simulated results, CCTZ (chloride-carbonation transition zone) for evaluating combined deterioration is proposed. It is numerically verified that concrete with slag has better resistance to combined deterioration than concrete with OPC in sound and cracked concrete.

Interpretation of Geophysical and Engineering Geology Data from a Test Site for Geological Field Trip in Jeungpyung, Chungbuk (충북 증평 지질학습장 시험부지에 대한 물리탐사 및 지질공학 자료의 해석)

  • The best way of investigating the physical and mechanical properties of subsurface materials is the combined interpretation of data from borehole geophysical surveys and geotechnical experiments with rock samples. In this study two surface seismic surveys with refraction and surface-wave method are alternatively conducted for downhole seismic surveys in test site for geological field trip in Jeungpyung, Chungbuk. P- and S-wave velocity structures are delineated by refraction and MASW (multichannel analysis of shear waves) methods, respectively. Possion's ratio section, reconstructed from P- and S-wave velocities, is correlated to the outcrop geological features consisting of reddish sedimentary rock, gray volcanic rock, and joints/fractures. In addition, rock samples representative for reddish sedimentary and gray volcanic features are geotechnically analyzed to provide physical, mechanical properties, and elastic modulus. Dynamic elastic moduli estimated from geophysical data is found to be higher than the one from geotechnical data. Reddish sedimentary rock characterized with low porosity and moisture content corresponds to the zone of low electrical resistivities and their small variations in the resistivity sections between the rainy and dry days. This trend suggests that the weathered gray volcanic rock and the nearby fractures with higher low porosity and moisture content are interpreted to be good carrier especially in rainy season.
