Cavitation experiments using a hybrid journal bearing testrig (복합 저어널 베어링 실험장치를 이용한 캐비테이션 연구)

  • 윤활에서 캐비테이션 문제는 가장 오래된 것 중의 하나이며, 현재 많이 사용되고 있는 레이놀즈 경제조건(캐비테이션)은 유막내의 인장력발생가능성 때문에 그 진실성이 문제되고 있다. 본 논 문에서는 복합 저어널 베어링 실험장치를 이용하여 그 가능성이 연구되었다. 이 장치에서 측정된 최저 압력은 -7바 정도였으며 베어링 축회전수에 따라 캐비티가 발생하지 않는 안정영역, 불 안정한 음압력 및 캐비티가 존재하는 영역과 두 영역 사이의 천이영역으로 구분할 수 있었다.

  • 베어링, 윤활이라는 것은 특히 기계공업의 제일 기초적인 기술이고 한나라의 공업수출을 나타 내는 지표라고도 한다. 공업수준이 높은 나라에서는 그 수준을 지탱할 고도의 윤활기술의 발전이 당연히 있을 것이다. 다시 말하면 윤활기술의 향상 없이는 현재의 세계의 산업발달은 있을 수 없었다는 것이다. 본 강좌에서는 이러한 윤활기술의 기초가 될 위체윤활이론에 대해서 기초방 정식 및 미끄름베어링에의 적용을 중심으로 기술하기로 한다.

  • 현재 외부 가압 공기베어링이 사용되어지는 분야는 PCB 기판, 엔진의 연료분사노즐 등의 고속가공용 스핀들, 전자 기기, 광학 기기 등에 사용되는 초정밀 부품가공용 스핀들, 정밀 측정 기기, 의료 기기, 저온 팽창기등 상대운동을 하는 많은 분야에서 이용되고 있으며, 이들 분야의 고속화 및 고정밀화 추세에 따라 고속에서의 안정성과 높은 운전정밀도가 보장된 외부 가압 공기 베어링이 요구되고 있다. 정밀 스핀들 시스템에 공기베어링이 사용되는 이유는 윤활제인 공기의 압축성에 기인된 평균화효과로 인하여 어느 정도 형상오차가 존재하더라도 축의 회전 시 떨림 진폭이 흡수되어 높은 운전정밀도를 유지하며 운전이 가능하기 때문이다. 그러나, 공기의 압축성에 의한 평균화효과로 어느 정도의 떨림 진폭은 흡수되나 형상오차에 의한 떨림 진폭은 작은 크기라도 여전히 남아있게 된다. 따라서, 초정밀 가공 기기나 정밀 측정 기기 등 높은 운전정밀도가 요구되는 곳에 공기베어링이 사용될 경우에 있어서 형상오차는 운전정밀도에 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자가 된다. 본 연구에서는 각각 두 개의 오비 가압 공기 저널 및 스러스트 베어링으로 구성된 스핀들 시스템에 대한 축과 베어링의 직각도 오차가 운전정밀도에 미치는 영향에 대해 해석하고 결과를 고찰하여 스핀들 시스템에 있어서 형상 공차에 대한 기초 설계자료를 제시하고자 한다.

  • This paper presents a highly efficient HDD (Hard Disk Drive) spindle motor with a passive magnetic thrust bearing and a fluid dynamic journal bearing and its effectiveness is verified through experiment. It eliminates the mechanical friction loss of a thrust bearing which is around 18% of total power consumption of a 3.5' HDD spindle motor, by replacing a conventional fluid dynamic thrust bearing with a passive magnetic thrust bearing. The passive magnetic thrust bearing using permanent magnets is inherently unstable in radial direction. However, the radial fluid dynamic force of the fluid dynamic journal bearing counterbalances the radial magnetic force of magnetic thrust bearing to achieve the stability as the motor spins up. It has less or equivalent runout and less flying height than the conventional spindle motor.

  • The loading test of wind turbine pitch and yaw bearings have been conducted using special test rig designed for the test of large slewing bearings. Test type was fatigue test that applied fatigue load to each bearing and followed the defined test process. Measurement data during test were rotational torque and raceway temperature, and inspected key components by disassembling the bearing after all test finished. As a results, the raceway temperature during test did not exceed the operational temperature range of lubricant and rotational torque was reduced as the bearing's rotational cycle increased. In the inspection of key components, some plastic deformation and flaking were detected at some raceway sections while other components such as ball, spacer and seal remain indefective conditions.

  • A new test rig is presented to measure friction losses at journal bearings in a reciprocating compressor. This rig consists of a test bearing, torque sensor, driving motor and loading parts especially for vertical shaft. Friction losses are obtained by measuring torque between motor and test bearing. The experiments are carried out at several rotational speeds and temperatures. The test results are presented and discussed.

  • This paper presents a combinatorial method to compute the solutions of optimization problem. The present hybrid algorithm is the synthesis of an artificial life algorithm and the random tabu search method. The hybrid algorithm is not only faster than the conventional artificial life algorithm, but also gives a more accurate solution. In addition, this algorithm can find all global optimum solutions. And the enhanced artificial life algorithm is applied to optimum design of high-speed, short journal bearings and the usefuless is verified through this example.

  • This paper describes the optimum design for journal bearing by using simulated annealing method. Simulated annealing algorithm is an optimum design method to calculate global and local optimum solution. Dynamic characteristics of a journal bearing are calculated by using finite difference method (FDM), and these values are used for the procedure of journal bearing optimization. The objective is to minimize the resonance response (Q factor) of the simple rotor system. Bearing clearance and length to diameter ratio are used as the design variables.

  • Vibration signal has been widely utilized in the diagnostics of rotating mechanical system. Diagnostics systems in rotating machinery are depends on the vibration data which are acquired from the system. However, the characteristics of acquired data can be vary according to the position of anomaly installed or the position of data acquired. In this research, the coordinate transform of journal bearing vibration signal was proposed to overcome the limitation mentioned above. Journal bearing systems are equipped two gap sensors with ninety degree angles, and it can enable to generate coordinate transformed signals in arbitrary angle domain. More abundant information for each normal or anomaly conditions are obtained from coordinate transformation than only the data of the existing measuring position, then we have developed a reliable and robust diagnosis algorithm for journal bearing system.

  • This article provides the systematic design methodology for a tilting pad journal bearing. First the dynamic factors for the bearing are selected with the critical speed analysis. The pad bearing is then designed to have its best mechanical efficiency by simulations with changing of the number of pad and the lubricant flow rate with meeting the design specifications such as metal temperature, clearance and so on. And the simulation results are reviewed to compare with an experimental test. Finally the stability of rotor with the designed bearing is investigated. This methodology is successfully applied to the rotor for 1.2MW turbo-blower.
