The Study on a Business Model that Respect the Responsibility of Journalism as Well as Business Profit: Based on Incumbent Senior Reporters (신문기업이 저널리즘의 정체성을 견지하며 수행할 수 있는 수익사업에 관한 연구: 현직 언론사 간부기자들의 인식을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to find a way to revive newspaper industry against digital new media revolution such as the internet, SNS(Social Network Service). To this end, indepth-interviews were conducted with the target incumbent senior reporters. The research areas are consisted of four subjects. For instance Awareness about the newspaper business crisis, the need for profitable business, potential conflicts of journalism and business, and desirable business. As a result of my research, executive reporters said that There is no management strategy Against the rapid expansion of social media and Therefore Business diversification is required. In short, They said that alternative business model should be developed, in which public and business interest are commonly respected, such as Information & Culture (internet, broadcasting, film, game, music), play, exhibition, publishing, and education.

A Critique on the Critical Communication Studies and Journalism Focused on the Neoliberalism in Korea (신자유주의에 대한 언론과 비판언론학 비판)

  • The purpose of this essay explores a critical review of the critical communication studies and Journalism focused on the neoliberalism in Korea. The majority of social member in Korea does not know the concept of neoliberalism, and just recognize it as a 'global standard.' This essay is analyzing Korean journalism which causes this phenomenon primarily. Nonetheless, the critical communication studies was negligent in criticism on journalism. Any research paper in was not analyzed the connection between neoliberalism and journalism At last this essay proposed that the critical communication studies should establish their identity themselves to critically analyze the journalism trying to protect the neoliberalism in one way, and become more critical to the press itself to raise the relationship with journalism spot.

The Change of Media and Emerging Journalistic Norm and Value: An exploration Based on the Young-hee Rhee's Idea (뉴미디어 환경과 언론인 직업 규범의 변화: 리영희 언론정신을 통한 탐색연구)

  • This study investigates normative role model of the journalists under the changing environment. Firstly, this article explores what pressure the new media environment gives to the journalists in their routine of news production and distribution. These are stated from the angle of epistemological, professional and interactive pressure. Next, as a reference for the standard journalism in the age of mass media, the idea of Rhee Young-hee, a late journalist who won respects from many Korean journalists, is studied. His firm belief in the pursuit of hard facts, rigorous investigative writing and expertism are spelt out. Then, this study explores how, in real term, this pressure changes the journalistic value, norm and practices in the newsroom. Ten of Koran journalists are interviewed in order to get their idea about the emerging journalistic standards under the digital environment. From this in-depth interviews, it is conclued that the pursuit of hard fact, investigative writing, expertism of Rhee Young-hee are, nonetheless the change of the media technology, still effective and provide good reference points for the enhancement of the standard of journalism in Korea. However, it is also suggested that the methods to fulfil desirable journalism in the digital age should be different from that of the mass communication age. The interviewees make propose that the journalist, as a network node, news curator or coordinator, should actively interact with the audiences facilitating their enhanced potential as a news 'prosumer'(producer and consumer).
