This work proposes a new method to generate velocity profile of a traction motor equipped in a rehabilitation system for knee joint patients through humanoid robot simulation. To this end, a three-dimensional full-body humanoid robot model is newly constructed, and natural human gait is simulated by applying to it reference joint angle trajectories already published. Linear velocity is derived from distance data calculated between the positions of a thigh band and its traction motor at every sampling instance, which is a novel idea of this paper. The projection rule is employed to kinematically describe the humanoid robot because of its high efficiency and accuracy, and measured joint trajectories are used in simulating human natural gait referring to Winter's book. The attained motor velocity profile for a certain position in human body will be applied to our walking-assistance system which is implemented with a treadmill system.

In this study, we developed a response time measuring apparatus for fencing which can use fencing athlete's own electric sword and connectors. The measuring apparatus designed to be connected to upper back of dummy body and it's position can be changed by spinning itself. And it operates like a closed circuit composed of dummy helmet, the apparatus, reel signal connection, connector and electric sword of athlete. This measuring apparatus can provide response time to athlete immediately which response time is measured from the time of indicating random signal of light and sound to the time of attacking dummy by athlete. we carried out pilot test for couch and athlete of national fencing team and could validate availability of this system.

This paper presents an augmented reality (AR) based rehabilitation exercise system to enhance the motor function of the hands for the paretic/hemi-paretic patient. The existing rehabilitation systems rely on mechanical apparatus for palsy rehabilitation, but we aim to use the rehabilitation system at home with easy configuration and minimized equipment by the computer vision based approach. The proposed method evaluates the interaction status of the fingertip action by using the position and the contact of the fingertip markers. We obtain the 2D positions of the fingertip markers from a single camera, and then transform the 3D positions from the calibrated camera space by using an ARToolKit marker. We adopt simple geometric calculation by the conversion of the 2D interest points into the 3D interaction points for the simple interactive task in AR environment. Some experimental results show that the proposed method is practical and simply applicable to the applications with personal AR interaction.

An interactive wireless-game device based on multi-channel electromyogram has been developed to help rehabilitation of patients with hemiplegia. The device is able to provide a visual feedback and rehabilitation motivations to the patients. The game contents were made according to the number of applied channels and, their level and speed can also be controlled depending on the recovery states of patients. Patient satisfaction survey was conducted to evaluate the necessity and usefulness of the proposed device after playing the game. The results show that the proposed system is expected to give hemiplegia patients exciting and effective rehabilitation chances, if more diverse and specialized rehabilitation games are developed.

Big data is an important keyword in World's Fourth Industrial Revolution in public and private division including IoT(Internet of Things), AI(Artificial Intelligence) and Cloud system in the fields of science, technology, industry and society. Big data based on services are available in various fields such as transportation, weather, medical care, and marketing. In particular, in the field of sports, various types of bio-signals can be collected and managed by the appearance of a wearable device that can measure vital signs in training or rehabilitation for daily life rather than a hospital or a rehabilitation center. However, research on big data with vital signs from wearable devices for training and rehabilitation for baseball players have not yet been stimulated. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system for baseball infield and outfield players, especially which can store and analyze the momentum measurement vital signals based on big data.

This study was to verify effect on muscle strength of trunk and body composition for elderly according to spinal stability exercise with three dimension. We recruited forty elderly participants(twenties as training group, the other twenties as control group) over sixty five aged. The participant performed muscle strength estimation to exercise of eight direction using spinal stability training system. Also, we estimated body composition in participants using inbody 720. Trining group performed direction exercise(F, FOR, R, BOR, B, BOL, L, FOL) and multiple exercise with band exercise, strengthening gym and walking during thirty minute. But control group only performed multiple exercise without direction exercise. All training progressed three days a week for eight weeks. The results showed that muscle strength of trunk in training group increased significantly from 79.9 point to 85.6 point with reducement of body weight, body fat and BMI. However, control group showed a few exercise effect with increasement of amount of muscles and reducement of body fat without muscle strength of trunk. These results means that spinal stability exercise could be helped to prevent obey and fall of elderly caused by muscle strengthening and improving body composition. This could be applied to develop rehabilitation program efficiently based these data.

In this experimental study, we have examined the correlation between a human carpal motion and a surface electromyogram. The carpal motion patterns have been identified and the main muscles involved in the carpal motion have been determined by investigating the anatomical structure of a carpal. The torque acting against the carpal motion has been applied by using a device for carpal rehabilitation training, and the surface electromyogram signal corresponding to the torque at the main muscles has been measured. The root-mean-square (RMS) magnitude of the surface electromyogram signal has been calculated and used to analyze the correlation between the surface electromyogram signal and carpal motion. The experimental results have proved that for carpal torque values below $0.1\;N{\cdot}m$, the RMS magnitude of the surface electromyogram signal is linearly proportional to the carpal torque magnitude and that the carpal torque magnitude is linearly proportional to the cross-sectional area of the carpal muscles. Further, the analysis of the contribution of each muscle to the carpal motion has shown that the contribution of the most dominant muscle is consistently 60%. These three results can be applied to develop more sophisticated devices or robots for carpal rehabilitation training.

In this paper, we present an inertial sensor-based motion capturing system to measure and analyze whole body movements. This system implements a wireless AHRS(attitude heading reference system) we developed using a combination of rate gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer sensor signals. Several AHRS modules mounted on segments of the patient's body provide the quaternions representing the patient segments's orientation in space. We performed 3D motion capture using the quaternion data calculated. And a method is also proposed for calculating three-dimensional inter-segment joint angle which is an important bio-mechanical measure for a variety of applications related to rehabilitation. To evaluate the performance of our AHRS module, the Vicon motion capture system, which offers millimeter resolution of 3D spatial displacements and orientations, is used as a reference. The evaluation resulted in a RMSE of 2.56 degree. The results suggest that our system will provide an in-depth insight into the effectiveness, appropriate level of care, and feedback of the rehabilitation process by performing real-time limbs or gait analysis during the post-stroke recovery process.

In this study, we developed a smart 1RM system for national health management and physical fitness, which enables quantitative 1RM measurement in various types of exercise using digital pulley technology, and to test the effect on training by using it. We developed the smart 1RM system, which is composed of portable muscle strength measuring device, Bluetooth communication based mobile phone data transmission and circuit diagram, and height adjustable system body. We recruited the 30 participants with 20th aged and divided into training and non-performing groups with 15 participants randomly. The participants performed 5 sets of elbow, lumbar, knee extension / flexion 10 times using smart 1RM system and the experimental period was 3 days a week for a total of 8 weeks. The experimental results showed that the maximum strength of the elbow, lumbar, and knee joints was significantly improved before and after maximal muscle strength training in the training group. Oxygen intakes during 1RM exercise mode showed 10.91% than endurance. To verify the validity of the smart 1RM maximal strength data, the reliability was 0.895 (* p <0.00). This study can be applied to the early rehabilitation treatment of the elderly and rehabilitation patients more quantitatively using the national health care.
Position balance control refers to ability that is kept bodily center of gravity under minimum position shake on surface of land. Patients who an injury of brain, a wound of the central nervous system or weakening of leg muscular power is fallen are trend increasing steadily by the car accident body balance function is on an increasing trended. These patients have difficulty in position balance control, receive big restriction walk and life style. This research composed to do body balance function rehabilitation training which elevate leg muscular power using step machine. And expect to become effective rehabilitation training device because measuring bodily pressure center using Force Platform and do so that can confirm training result easily as that is monitor.
