This paper described recycling of the bottom ash, sourced from the local incinerators as a fine sand for concrete. 10% bottom ash was substituted for the ordinary beach sand in the mortar(on a weigh basis), in conjunction with the pozzolznic diatomite. The specimens were tested according to KS L 5105 and analysed by TCLP(Toxic Chemical Leaching Procedure). The results showed that the hazardous heavy metals in the bottom ash are within the maximum permissible limit of TCLP. The compressive strength of the mortar with 10% bottom ash was highly improved, compared to the control mortar when the pozzolanic diatomite was used. It revealed that the hazardous heavy metals of the mortar with 10% bottom ash were leached within the maximum permissible limit of TCLP. It was concluded that the bottom ash can be reused as a fine sand for concrete when the pozzolanic diatomite was used as a stabilizer.
Using recycled aggregate from demolished concrete structures provides a peat opportunity fur conserving natural resources. In many parts of world, virgin aggregate deposits have been depleted, and transporting aggregates over long distances can be much more expensive than using a low-cost recycled aggregate. In Korea, about 7-million tons of concrete occurs annually, out of this, about 2-3 million tons are available for recycling. This study is to present the method of utilizing the recycled aggregate. The recycled aggregate concretes were made for compressive strength test, flexural strength test and fatigue test using w/c of 40, 50 and 60%. The replacing rates of recycled aggregate to virgin aggregate were 0, 25 and 50%. The purpose of this study is to compare the fatigue lift of recycled aggregate concrete with that of virgin aggregate concrete. It was shown that the fatigue life of recycled concrete was function of recycled aggregate replacement ratio and water cement ratio.

Recycled aggregate by the recycling construction waste has a lot of advantage such as the developing the alternative resource and protecting of environment. However, recycled aggregate is used as the low quality grade, because it is difficult to remove old mortar from aggregate. To use the recycled aggregate as high quality grade, it is important to develop the technology to produce the high quality recycled aggregate. To manufacture the high quality recycled aggregate, old mortar attached on the aggregates should be removed efficiently. Therefore, in this study, we suggested the optimum condition to remove old mortar effectively using sulfuric acid and low speed wet rotary mill for high quality recycled fine aggregate. The results shows that the recycled aggregate satisfy on the standards of KS F 2573 in density, absorption and solid volume, when adequate condition of sulfuric mole ratio and aggregate ratio are make.

The use of the recycled fine aggregate to the material of structural concrete is not easy currently because there are some problems, such as the difficulty of quality control and the badness of chemical and physical property other than river sand, crushed fine aggregate. To use of recycled fine aggregate, many researches on the recycling of recycled fine aggregate have been studying until today. However, the result of the research is little except for some results. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to confirm the possibility of use of recycled fine aggregate for raw material of plaster mortar. In this study, various tests were performed such as flow, air content, unit weight, bond strength, and compressive strength test to evaluate the effect according to the substitution of recycled concrete aggregate. The results of strength test showed that the concrete strength improved with the increase of replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate. In the other side, flow and air content are decreased according to replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate. The result of this study could be used as the basic data for the recycling of recycled fine aggregate.
The recycling of waste foundry sand(WFS) and fly ash as by-products of industry is one of the urgent problem to deal with. For the recycling of these materials, CLSM(controlled low strength materials) concept was adopted. This research has been done for last three years. In this research, couple of selected waste foundry sand and fly ash were used as fine aggregate. Also, WFS modified by Proper chemical liquid was used for the comparison. The main focus is to evaluate the silo earth pressure and the reduction effect due to the use of CLSM instead of normal fine aggregate. Silo effect, which occurs at short distance between retaining wall and backfill, was not detected because the characterization of CLSM is highly different from that of normal aggregate. Therefore, the theory for earth pressure, like Rankine theory or Coulomb theory, should be carefully used for CLSM. The reduction of earth pressure for modified WFS is higher than the others. But, the final earth pressure is converged at very small value, even though the reduction effect depends on the curing time.
The aggregate out of waste polyethylene was made in order to recycle waste polyethylene wasted in the country side. Many physical and mechanical experiments which include leaching test, specific gravity test, compaction test, LA abrasion test, large-scaled shear test, and permeability test were performed for the waste polyethylene aggregate. The thermal conductivity test, unfrozen water content test and frost heave test were also performed. The temperature distribution for both gravels and waste polyethylene aggregate, which were constructed in the frost heave layer in the field, was measured in winter season of continuous 2 years and compared.
On the paved track, the ballast is used as aggregate for the filling layer using the pre-packed concrete technique. The most important condition of aggregate is adhesive strength with mortar. To satisfy this condition, surface of aggregate should be cleaned by water or others. In a paved-track method to be introduced domestically, an environment-friendly dry-washing technology which will replace the water-washing method has been developed. A dry-washing method was designed to blast the crushed weight material with a diameter of 0.3~0.5mm at high pressure to peel the surface of the aggregate. The study was intended to enhance the washing efficiency of dry-blasting technology and to that end, the tests including blasting material, content of fine aggregate depending on time elapsed, content of chloride, LA abrasion rate and compressive strength were conducted to recommend the efficient washing material and the process.

In Korea, reutilization of construction waste is gaining attention as construction waste generated increases continuously. Currently, the concrete waste is simply crushed and used as a low value application such as paving, back filling, etc. To meet the demand of aggregate for construction and the resource efficiently, production of high quality recycled aggregate is necessary. Therefore, in this study, a better process for production of high quality recycled aggregate was developed using combination of heat pretreatment and autogenous milling. Test results showed that the recycled aggregate has a density of $2.5\;g/cm^3$ and a water absorption ratio of 3.0%, which meet the specification of the first class of KS F 2573. Currently, a pilot scale autogenous mill is being constructed and tests will be further conducted to develop a commerce-scale process.
