On the paved track, the railway ballast is used as aggregate for the filling layer using the pre-packed concrete method. The condition of ballast as the paved track aggregate ensure that the compressive strength, particle distribution size for the pouring and surface clearance to increase the adhesive strength with mortar. It is profitable to recycle the existing railway ballast as a economical supply. In order to increase recycling characteristic, it is necessary to apply the similar criterion which does not exceed the conventional railway ballast criterion. Consequently, this paper was to investigate physical characteristics of existing ballast, particle size distribution, compressive and flexural strength, bearing capacity and filling capacity to prepare the aggregate's recycling. As a result, optimized aggregate criterion is suggested.
Nowadays, large amount of waste pottery and porcelain annually are produced. It is needed that they are used as recycled materials in order to prevent environmental pollution and gain economic profits. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present the method of utilizing the recycled aggregates that are obtained from waste pottery and porcelain as the concrete aggregate. The qualities of the recycled aggregate were compared with those of the crushed aggregate through measuring their physical properties. The test results showed that the replacement of crushed aggregate by recycled aggregate at the levels $10\%,\;20\%$, and $30\%$ had little effect on the compressive strength of the concretes, but higher levels of replacement reduced the compressive strength. Increment of the replacement of recycled aggregate caused increase in absorption ratio. As a conclusion, norman strength recycled aggregate concretes can be produced using less than $30\%$ of recycled aggregate.

Concrete produced from the construction wastes has been largely used as the recycled aggregate. These wastes, however, is mostly used as filling materials. For any recycled aggregate like waste concrete to be used as normal construction materials, it is necessary to actively find out the proper market places as much as possible with the improved quality. In this study, we have investigated the present status on the occurrence and treatment of both domestic and abroad construction wastes, and also the recycling status and related legislation with some inhibitory factors. Based on these investigations, we suggested some effective ways to increase the recycling of construction wastes.
Recently, the reuse of coarse aggregate derived from demolished concrete was introduced into practice with two environmental aspects: protection of natural sources of aggregate and recycling of construction waste. However, recycled aggregate has been used for the very limited application such as subbase material for pavement and constructional filling material because it was considered as low quality constructional materials. In the present study, in order to examine the possibility that recycled aggregate can be used for concrete mixing, we conducted various experimental tests to identify mineralogical, chemical and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate and to determine the workability and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). The cement paste and mortar contained in recycled aggregate significantly affect the basic mechanical properties of aggregate and the workability and mechanical properties of RAC. However, RCA mixed with the proper replacement ratio of recycled aggregate shows the comparable compressive strength and freeze and thaw resistance to those of normal concrete. Therefore, it is considered that recycled aggregate can be widely used for concrete if the cement paste and mortar can be efficiently removed from recycled aggregate and/or if the effective replacement ratios of recycled aggregate are applied for mixing concrete.

Plastic wastes generated from domestic waste are separated by mixed discharge with foreign substances, and the cost of the separation and screening process increases, so recycling is relatively low. In this study, as a fundamental study for recycling mixed plastic wastes generated from domestic waste into concrete aggregates, changes in concrete properties according to the plastic waste types and the substitution rate were evaluated experimentally. The mixed plastic waste aggregate(MPWA) was found to have a lower density and a higher absorption rate compared to the coarse aggregate with good particle size distribution. On the other hand, the single plastic waste aggregate(SPWA) was composed of particles of uniform size, and both the density and the absorption rate were lower than that of the fin e aggregate. It was found that the MPWA substitution concrete did not cause a material separation phenomenon due to a relatively good particle size distribution even with the largest amount of plastic waste substitution, and the amount of air flow increased little. The compressive strength and flexural strength of the PWA substitution concrete decreased as the amount of substitution of the PWA increased due to the low strength of the PWA, the suppression of the cement hydration reaction due to hydrophobicity, and the low adhesion between the PWA and the cement paste. It was found that the degree of deterioration in compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete substituted with MPWA having good particle size distribution was relatively small.
The objective of this research is to evaluate engineering properties of recycled aggregates, slag as coarse & fine aggregate and waste foundry sand(WFS) as fine aggregate, in hot mix asphalt(HMA). In this research, soundness, gradation and particle analysis, abrasion, specific gravity and absorption test were carried out. The optimum asphalt binder content(OAC) for various HMA combinations of recycled aggregate was determined by Marshall Mix Design. The ranges determined is between 7.2% and 7.5%. Indirect tensile test, resilient modulus test, creep test were carried out for characterization of rutting behavior of various combination of HMA. Judging from the limited tests, the HMA with recycled aggregates is not as good rutting resistance as the HMA with common aggregates. After finishing the Wheel tracking test, the application or feasibility for the use of recycled aggregate as asphalt paving material will be determined.
Nowadays, recycling of recycled aggregates from the waste concrete is seriously demanded for the protection of environment and the shortage of aggregates owing to the large scale construction project. In this study, for the development of polymer composite recycling recycled aggregates from the waste concrete, twenty five specimens of the polymer composite were prepared with the five levels of replacement ratios of recycled aggregates (0, 25, 50, 75, 100%) and polymer-cement ratios (0,5, 10, 15, 20%), respectively. For the evaluation of the performance of polymer composite specimens, various physical properties such as compressive and flexural strengths, water absorption, hot water resistance, total pore volume and porosity were investigated. As a result, physical properties of polymer composite were remarkably improved with an increase of polymer cement ratios, but greatly decreased with the replacement ratios of recycled aggregates.
