  • The development of webtoon accelerated with development of smart devices. It became a daily life to enjoy digital contents such as webtoon using smartphones on the streets and subways, not just for the novelty of the new generation. With the advent of smart devices, the webtoon market has grown rapidly and webtoons of various themes and genres are pouring out. The growth of webtoon market is a good opportunity for artists, but competition is getting worse and it is difficult to satisfy readers with low quality. In order to create webtoon that can satisfy the readers, the artists are considered as important homework that can show the interesting story and show it effectively. In this study, I tried to prove that the method of directing using shot among the elements of animation can be utilized for directing webtoon effectively. In order to explain this, I have tried to explain the characteristics of webtoon and its relation with animation, and I chose the most important example of webtoon, 'Ko Soo(Ryu Ki woon, Moon jeong hu, 2015)', which has been popularized with successful storytelling and directing, and described character shot and time transition shot.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate how an elementary English class is presented in terms of communicative properties using COLT and TALOS because previous studies mainly used COLT. A lack of TALOS has shown on the previous studies. Also, this study takes a close look into whether the English class is communicative or not communicative since previous studies criticized in that elementary English classes are not communicative. For the purposes of this research, COLT part B and TALOS low-inference were used to analyze one elementary English class which had won the grand prize at English class contest. The result of this study revealed that the class is communicative in terms of high quantity and quality of students utterances, high ratio of students' discourse initiation, students' unpredictable information giving utterances and extension of utterances. Findings from this study revealed the good elementary English class characteristics of this class: students' participation, focus on affective atmosphere, students-directed activities, and unconscious internalization of target expressions through repetition.

  • In this paper appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from investigating the relationships among the players' loyalty, word of mouth and flow, and the impacts of several other key game-related constructs on consumer behavioral intentions. A conceptual framework is proposed and a structural equation model is developed. This paper develops the exploratory LISREL model for identifying the factors affecting the players' loyalty for some specific brand of online games. The concept of flow, feedback, challenge, etc, are all introduced into the model, as the independent variables affecting the loyalty directly and indirectly. Statistical results show that depending upon the types of games, the configuration of structural equation model is a little different from each other, but overall results are very much intuitive in that challenge positively enforces flow, and flow strengthens loyalty. Other interesting results concerning game development strategy are also provided. It is hoped that this result might provide the useful guidelines for developing the successful online game contents. With a better understanding of the players' behavioral intentions, online game developers should be able to make adjustments in their development and marketing plans, providing them with a sustainable advantage over their competition.

Transmedia contents becomes invasive and permeates fully the audience's lifestyle by developing content available across multiple forms of media. This study discusses the differences between OSMU and transmedia contents. It attempts to clearly define transmedia contents and to conceptualize the components of transmedia contents. In doing so, this study seeks a new method of storytelling utilizing transmedia contents. The discussions in this study should be useful for transmedia content developers to improve their work. Implications and directions for future study are discussed.

  • The objective of this study was to explore the humorous scenes shown in animation such as types of humor, frequency of humor, hours of humor, and correlation between subject of humor and supporting role. As the subjects of research, this study selected and that recorded the ten-times different number of audiences even though both works were produced by the same studio called 'Odolttogi'. In the results of analyzing those two works, there were differences. Drawing the characteristics of humor, the frequency of humor should be a lot more shown in the early to mid part than the latter part, and there should be diverse types of humor. And the frequency of humor by main characters should be increased. When the types of supporting roles were more diverse, the tendency of humor was also shown diversely. Also, the humor that was formed within relationships of characters was more effective than the humor formed alone. Through the slapstick or linguistic comedy in which such interactions are shown into actions, more diverse verbal plays could be shown. These elements could make it possible for animated works to diversely express more creative and funnier scenes of humor.

  • Because of a rising in the standard of living and the development of medical technology, Korea is expected to become an aging society more than 14% elderly population and the silver generation will be responsible for the large portion of economic activities. The silver generation has relatively diminished in perception, learning, and exercise due to the physical aging. Therefore, it is important the development of game contents which can constantly provide the maintenance function of physical and mental health and the functional exercise with spending the leisure time. In this paper, we suggest a design method for developing the game contents which are able to help the silver generation to strengthen their lower extremities and to enjoy their leisure time. The proposed method will enable to lead the silver generation to carry on the physical activities with the amusement of playing a game through the functional design concepts appropriate for the ability of the silver generation's perception and physical activities, an adaptive game process customized by the individual capability and a user-friendly sensory interface.

  • This research aims to suggest a gamified smart learning design for Korean EFL young learners' speaking proficiency. Gamification is the use of game-thinking and game mechanics in non-game contexts to engage users in solving problems. Thus, the gamified smart learning as gamification in education is designed not only to elicit students' participation but also to enhance speaking skills. Especially, this research based on the results of a pilot study is focused on easing the burden of homework as well as engaging the speaking English game for the primary students with a relatively short attention span. The game elements utilized in this study are competition, rewards, customized characterization and so on. Kakao Talk is selected for this gamified smart learning research because of its ease of accessibility, and multiple applicable functions for language learning such as voice recording, text messaging and sharing videos or photos. Gamification in smart learning can be a means of productive approach to contemporary EFL teaching and learning.

  • NPC in game is an important factor to increase the fun of the game by cooperating with player or confrontation with player. NPC's behavior patterns in the previous games are limited. Also, there is not much difference in NPC's ability among the existing games because it's designed to FSM. Therefore, players who have matched with NPCs which have the characteristics may have difficulty to play. This paper is for improving the problem and production and evaluation of the game NPC behavior model based on wolves hunting model in real life. To achieve it, first, the research surveys and studies behavior states for wolves to capture prey in the real world. Secondly, it is implemented using the Unity3D engine. Third, this paper compares the implemented state transition probability to state transition probability in real world, state transition probability in general game. The comparison shows that the number of state transitions of NPCs increases, proportions of implemented NPC behavior patterns converges to probabilities of state transition in real-world. This means that the aggressive behavior pattern of NPC implemented is similar to the wolf hunting behavior pattern of the real world, and it can thereby provide more player experience.

  • Today, gamification that appeal to people and provide fun by applying game thinking and elements in many non-game fields is becoming a big issue. This study analyzed the case of 'Idea Community' in Creative Economy Town that combines online mentoring and gamification. In order to foster and select ideas, we conducted the open simulated investment and mentoring. In this process, members are able to acquire experience points and raise the level when doing certain activities. Besides, members felt their sense of accomplishment by receiving internal/external rewards for their activities. The results will be an importance reference for the application of gamification in various fields.
