ITER 블랑켓 시험모듈(TBM)의 액체형 증식재 성능 시험용 루프 설계 및 제작

  • ITER 블랑켓 시험모듈(TBM)의 액체형 증식재 성능 시험용 루프의 설계를 완료하였고 현재시험용 루프를 제작 및 설치중이다. 액체형 증식재 성능 시험용 루프의 핵심 구성 부품인 액체 저장용 탱크, 전자석, EM 펌프들과 이들 장치들의 전원장치 및 제어장치를 제작 완료하였다. 액체형 증식재 성능 시험용 루프 설치를 위한 데크를 제작하였으며, 제작된 실험 데크의 총 지지하중은 10 톤 이상이다. 루프설치대 위에 성능 시험용 루프가 설치되며 루프 설치대는 $3\;m\;{\times}\;2.4\;m$ 의 직사각형으로 제작되었으며, 실험 종료 및 유지 보수 시 액체증식재의 drain을 고려하여 전체 루프는 각도 조절이 가능하도록 제작되었다. 루프내의 유량을 측정하기 위한 유량계, 전자석 자장의 변화에 따른 압력의 변화를 측정하기 위한 차압센서가 전자석의 양단에 설치되며, 시험용 루프에 흐르는 액체금속(PbLi) 및 루프관의 온도를 측정하기 위한 열전대가 설치된다. 루프 설치대를 기울였을 때 루프의 최상부에 액체금속 저장고 및 레벨센서를 설치하여 루프 내에 액체금속이 가득 채워졌는지를 레벨센서로 확인하며 루프 내에 잔존하는 기체가 저장고를 통하여 외부로 배출되게 하였다. 액체형 증식재 성능 시험용 루프 설치 후 실험은 고체 상태의 PbLi를 액체 저장용 탱크에 장착한 후 탱크의 열선의 온도 제어에 의한 PbLi의 용융점 확인, 시험용 루프에서의 전자펌프 성능 평가 등의 시험의 기본적인 실험을 수행한 후 자기장 환경에서 MHD 평가, 증식재의 순도 유지, 구조재의 부식 등의 시험을 수행할 예정이다.

Clinical Study of Children Using Home Mechanical Ventilation (가정용 인공 호흡기를 사용하는 소아의 임상적 고찰)

  • Purpose : The use of mechanically-assisted ventilators at home reduces morbidity and improves the quality of life in children with chronic respiratory failure. But in Korea there is no clinical data of children with home mechanical ventilation. We investigated ventilator types, duration, the causes of failure or death, and the cost needed for care. Methods : We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 21 children who were admitted and who applied for home mechanical ventilation at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Asan Medical Center. Phone interviews took place after discharge. and interviewed by phone after discharge. Results : The median age was 31 months; the median duration with ventilator was 25 months. Underlying diseases were 16 neuromuscular diseases, one metabolic disease and four chronic respiratory diseases. The types of ventilator were pressure and volume type(16 and five patients, respectively). The frequency of ventilation failure was once per 19 months. Weaning could be performed in three cases. Frequencies of admission after receiving ventilators were 1.7 times per year; the most common cause was pneumonia. Nine patients(43%) died; four of them died because of endotracheal tube obstruction. The costs for medical care were about 1,110,000 won per month. Conclusion : There is an increment in the numbers of individuals who need mechanical ventilation support. The most common cause of death was endotracheal tube obstruction. The most important problem for the patients was medical cost. There needs to be more interest in patients with ventilator and social welfare systems to support their families need to be prepared.

X-band CW Doppler Radar Development for Measurement of Muzzle Velocity (포구 속도 측정을 위한 X-band CW 도플러 레이더 개발)

  • In this paper, we described the implementation of the X-Band continuous-wave doppler radar for muzzle velocity measurement. The radar is consisted of microwave transceiver, signal processor, power board, and the measuring program was developed for the operating and field test. The operating frequency of doppler radar is able to set ${\pm}3\;MHz$ with 5 channel from the center frequency, and the output power is 25 dBm. The minimum receiving power is -117 dBm. The radar would obtain the doppler frequency from the artillery, and calculate accurate velocity point and then estimate muzzle velocity. The performance test for this radar was done with 155 mm at barrel and tripod mounted, and also compared the performance with the reference radar. As a result, the performance of the our new radar is equal with the reference one.

  • 생체 시료인 세포나 조직을 분석을 위해 임의로 파괴하거나 훼손하지 않은 본래의 상태에서 세포에 존재하는 다양한 생체분자 물질의 질량과 조성을 분석하고 영상화할 수 있는 대기압 표면 질량분석 이미징 기술을 개발했다. 생체 시료의 표면을 질량 분석을 하기 위해서는 대기압 분위기에서 시료에 열적 손상이 없는 조건으로 시편의 이온화 및 탈착 과정이 이루어지게 하기 위해 저온 대기압 탈착/이온화원으로 저온대기압 플라즈마 젯과 펨토초 적외선 레이저를 결합하여 대기압 이온화원을 제작하였다. 기존에 잘 알려진 저온 대기압 플라즈마 젯 소자는 유리관에 방전기체를 흘려주고 전극에 고전압을 인가하는 방식으로 제작했으며, 또 다른 대기압 이온화원으로서 근적외선 대역의 고출력 펨토초 레이저 빔을 현미경용 대물렌즈로 집속하여 생체시료에 조사시켰다. 수백 나노미터에서 수 마이크로미터 수준으로 빔을 집속할 수 있는 펨토초 레이저는 금나노로드의 도움으로 생체 시료를 매우 작은 수준으로 탈착하는 데 주로 사용하며, 수십 마이크로미터에서 수 밀리미터 정도의 크기를 가지는 저온 대기압 플라즈마 젯은 탈착된 물질을 이온화시키는데 사용하여, 이 두 가지 이온화원을 결합하여 이온화원으로 사용한다. 시료에서 발생한 이온을 질량분석기 입구까지 잘 끌고 갈 수 있도록 이온 전달관을 설계하고 보조펌프를 장착 사용한다. 이렇게 자체 개발한 대기압 이온화원을 상용 질량분석기기와 결합하여 대기압 분위기에서 시료의 표면을 질량분석할 수 있는 시스템과 측정 기술을 개발했다. 현미경 스테이지에 정밀 2-D 자동 스캐닝 스테이지를 장착하여 질량분석 정보에 공간 정보를 더할 수 있는 질량분석 이미징 기술 방법을 개발하여 생체 시편의 질량분석 이미징을 얻었다. 수분을 포함하는 생채시료로부터 단백질, 지질, 대사물질을 직접 분리하여 분석하는 이 새로운 질량분석법은 기존의 분석법에 비해 훨씬 더 많은 생체분자 정보를 얻을 수 있으며 공간정보를 더해 영상화할 수 있는 큰 장점이 있다. 대기압 표면 질량분석 기술은 생체시료를 파괴해서 용액화할 필요도 없으며, 진공 챔버에 넣기 위해 필요한 복잡한 전처리 과정 단계를 간략화 할 수 있으며 최종적으로는 살아있는 세포나 생체 조직도 정량 분석이 가능하여 생명과학 및 의료진단 분야에서 응용할 수 있는 분야는 무궁무진할 것이다.

Effect of Injector Number on Combustion Characteristics of Full-scale Gas Generators (분사기 수에 따른 실물형 가스발생기 연소특성)

  • Combustion characteristics of full-scale gas generators were studied experimentally by changing the injector number installed at the injector head. Three full-scale gas generators were utilized; they have same total mass flow rate but mass flow rates per injector are different. Thirteen, nineteen and thirty seven injectors, which have internal-mixing and double-swirl characteristics, are distributed in injector heads, respectively. The results showed that pressure fluctuations in the gas generators with 13 and 19 injectors didn't occur around longitudinal resonant frequency, however longitudinal-mode pressure fluctuation appeared slightly in the gas generator with 37 injectors. As the number of injectors increased, deviations of temperature distribution in the combustion chamber decreased gradually, but the damage of injector LOx posts became a little severe.

  • The integration of the landing gear system is a complex relationship between the many conflicting parameters of shock absorption, minimum stow area, complexity, weight and cost. Especially ground impact load and dynamic behaviors greatly influence design load of landing gear components as well as load carrying structural attachment. This study investigates ground impact load and dynamic behaviors of the T-50 landing gear system using ADAMS. Taking into account for various operational/environmental conditions, an analysis of shock absorbing characteristics at ground impact is performed with experience derived from a wide range of proprietary designs. Analytical results are presented for discussing the effects of aircraft horizontal and vertical speed, landing attitudes, shock absorbing efficiency. This analysis leads us to the conclusion that the proposed program is shown to be a better quantitative one that apply to a new development and troubleshooting of the landing gear system.

  • Conventionally, a pulse radar is used for middle-sized or large-sized ships to detect other ships or obstacles located at a long distance. However, it is hardly equipped for most of the small-sized ships due to mounting and maintenance costs. Therefore, FMCW(frequency modulated continuous wave) radar is suggested as an alternative for the small-sized ships. Since it operates with low power and has good range resolution for relatively close objects, it is eligible for the small-sized ships. In previously proposed FMCW radar system, it only estimates distance and velocity of a target ship placed in the direction of main beam and is hard to detect several ships simultaneously. Thus, we suggest the method for detecting several ships at the same time by applying MUSIC(multiple signal classification) algorithm to FMCW radar signal received by a phased array antenna. In addition, by combining digital beam forming with the MUSIC algorithm, better angle resolution is achievable.

  • To satisfy the operational requirements of surveillance radar and the operational concept of a ship combat system, an active-array-type antenna was designed using solid-state transmitters and receivers. The arrangement of the constituent electronic components of the antenna system, considerably large in size, and therefore, the antenna needs to be housed in a box. The rotational antenna system installed on a ship mast is installed in a sealed housing to protect the interior equipment from environmental conditions. The outer shape of the housing is that the antenna should be capable of rotating normally despite strong winds. Furthermore, in recent times, designs with low radar cross section (RCS) have attracted attention from the viewpoint of improving the stealth of the ship. In this light, four types of models are proposed for the outer shape design of the antenna system, and they are investigated from the viewpoint of low RCS design as well as wind load.

  • Wind turbine experiment was carried out for the horizontal axis wind turbine with the aerodynamically optimized blade. From the comparison of aerodynamic performance between upwind and downwind type wind turbine rotor, the measured torque fluctuation of the latter is larger than that of the former. This phenomenon is owing to the interaction of wake generated from support column and blades. The wind turbine model satisfies the design condition in that the measured result of the power coefficient at zero pitch angle shows maximum peak at the designed tip speed ratio, λ = 6. It also shows that the decrease in aerodynamic power due to negative pitch change is more sensitive than that of the same positive pitch change.
