  • The object of this article is to examine the effect of the quota-levy system on employment outcome of people with disabilities in Korea. Merging the data from disability employment report of 16,246 businesses in 2011 and the macroeconomic indicators such as regional economic condition, the author analyzes the effect of quota-levy system on employment outcome of persons with disabilities by using Hierarchical Linear Model(HLM). The finding is that imposing the levy on businesses affects employment outcome of people with disabilities but regional economic condition does not. The rate of employees with disabilities of the levied business is 0.7%p higher than that of the other business. The result of analysis implies that employment outcome of people with disabilities is influenced by the quota-levy system rather than regional economic condition.

  • The purpose of this study is to figure out problems and to suggest improvement scheme by examining 31 of the disabled who used power wheelchair developed for safe moving and standing support. The results are as follows. First, standing power wheelchair that enables the disabled to sit and stand up was developed. It can also be used as means of transportation for moving in narrow space and in a short distance. In the usability test of this prototype, two groups were respectively examined in 60 evaluation items. One group consisted of 16 people with disabilities using manual wheelchairs. And the other one consisted of 15 people with disabilities using automatic wheelchairs. The entire average figure of two groups was shown to be 2.72 and standard deviation was 0.820. Specifically, the average figure of the group in manual wheelchair was 2.85 and the one of the other group in automatic wheelchair was 2.57. And both group replied that the move to stand up and sit on both types of wheelchair was the most inconvenient thing. It shows why ergonomic design for persons with under extremity disabilities to stand up and sit is needed. • The purpose of this research is to develop transition process and programmes for gently converting people with disabilities to local communities, through their empowerments. The methods used in the research were literature research, case studies on related programs, and expert interviews. The following shows the results. Firstly, the transition process for people with developmental disorders is exceedingly limited, and the process does not consider special attention needed for people with developmental disorders. Secondly, the postsecondary education programs for people with developmental disorders are being started as transition processes, however these programs need more connection with secondary schools. Thirdly, the primary factors which must be contemplated for University programs(for people with developmental disorders, after secondary education) are self-cognition and self-understanding. According to these results, we can suggest transition processes and programs within Universities for people with developmental disorders. (In Korea) Firstly, the postsecondary transition for people with developmental disorders requires a consideration of their characteristics, and mainstreaming education is also needed for their self-cognition and self-understanding. Considering this, the transition process within Universities can be an alternative. Secondly, tertiary educations within Universities for people with developmental disorders need to consider the following factors: ① The programs in Universities need to set up a support network. ② The door to program should be open to all students with developmental disorders within the Universities. ③ Organization of human resources must be systematized and connected, so that specialists within the Universities can participate in the postsecondary education programs for people with developmental disorders. ④ Inclusive learning activities must be under-taken, allowing students without disabilities to participate in the programs for students with developmental disorders.
