In this research, a sample was selected from a public library in Paju city, which operates a regional collaborative library system. They collected data on materials, usage, and acquisition. An analysis of book collection data and usage data was also conducted in order to evaluate the correlation between the usage and acquisition by comparing overlap of purchased materials. As a result, circulations and the interlibrary loan (ILL) borrowing requests were differentiated by topics according to targeted materials, and that these characteristics affect the overlap of purchased materials. The study suggested that public libraries in the region collaborative library system need to consider the paradigm of collection and access when purchasing books.

Web-based information resources should be managed and used methodically in the same manner as the paper-based resources are managed and used. It is necessitated by the prevalence of web-based delivery of a variety of information. To develop a web-based digital collection, it is critical to establish a set of standardized evaluation criteria for web-resources. The evaluation criteria needs to include authority, trustworthy, reliability, functionality, relatedness, accessibility, structure, design, user support, and security related matters. However, it is also necessary to have certain flexibility to either emphasize or include particular evaluation criteria to reflect varying characteristics of the web resources especially for the purpose of developing an effective digital collection. In addition, it is essential to review the evaluation criteria with respect to value, demand, duplication prevention, and intellectual property, which are relevant to the web-based digital collection development. Finally, various strategies were suggested as means to develop more effective web-based digital resource collection. These strategies include organizing a selection committee to ensure the objectivity and consistency in web-resource evaluation; developing a model for web-based digital resource collection; sharing new standards, protocols, markups, and metadata with other digital libraries; and developing user-centered digital resource collection.

Cloud collection, which is derived from cloud computing, is a framework that creates new value through library cooperative platform to preserve and manage libraries' duplicated collection. Due to E-book market vitalization and mass digitalization of retrospective print material, new library collection management paradigm has been expected that licensed based E-book service and management of shared print repository. This study discuss cloud collection concept which digital repository and Shared print repository are in complementary relations. And suggest cloud collection model can be applicable to Korean university libraries.

대학 도서관에서 전체 장서구입비 중 국외 학술잡지 구입비가 1995년을 기점으로 단행본 구입비를 앞서기 시작했다. 이같은 시점에서 대학 도서관은 효율적인 상호대차를 구축.도모하지 않으면 안된다. 대학 도서관이 어떤 형태의 발전 경로를 밟든지 간에 효율적인 상호대차를 전제해 놓지 않으면 매년 증가되는 국외 학술잡지의 중복 구입은 피할 수 없고, 보다 많은 종수의 국외 학술잡지를 국내에서 확보하려는 의지는 좌절될 것이다. 효율적인 상호대차로 도서관 협력망을 형성한 후에 선진국처럼 주제중점 도서관을 정할 수 있을 것이다.

Most university libraries in Korea have expanded the subscription of high-quality electronic resources in their amount and category, which are directly available to academic and research users via the web. Despite more than a decade's history, however, a lack of statistics made it difficult to get the overall pictures of electronic resources subscription status in Korea. The purpose of this study is to provide the analysis on nationwide statistics survey of how much money are spent on electronic resources, what kinds of subject resources are mainly subscribed, and how they are used and required by academic users, etc. Some comparisons are made with several factors that have effect on collection development of university libraries. This study will contribute to the future selection and subscription of electronic resources.

The literature may be divided into two broad categories : primary and secondary literature. Primary literature comprises documents which contain the full text of the author's work. On the other hand secondary literature, such as indexes, abstracts, bibliographies reviews and surveys, provides signposts to the primary literature. This paper intended to examine and analyze the relationship between primary and secondary literature through the previous research and the theory, and the actual study which compared it with the lists of journals in three secondary literatures: Library and Information Science Abstracts(LISA). 1998; Library Literature (LL), 1998; Information Science Abstracts (ISA), 1998. Some of the problem involved in the study of journal overlap and coverage patterns of secondary services are discussed. Conclusions are drawn about the impact on library and information science selection policies and organization of library collections.

The purpose of this study is to develop the indicators of user satisfaction for Korean public library evaluation. This is an attempt to overcome the inequality of indicators, which mainly consist of inputs and outputs. User satisfaction indicators are constructed through literature reviews and the prepared indicators are tested through a user survey of public libraries. Notably, the test is focused on the applicability of indicators for public libraries with a variety characteristics such as scale and operation organization. Based on the analysis of the results, this study suggests a total of 10 indicators.

Book numbers can be defined as the device for providing a unique self location for each book. They should include main entry which consists of author, title, the date of publication. Now, the university libraries are using eleven different methods on book numbers, in other words, nine eastern methods and two western methods. The aim of this study is to investigate problems that the present book number system has and some concerns that should be taken into account in case of the modification of the book number system and change into a new one. This study is based on the survey in that the librarian gave to 110 university libraries throughout the nation. As a result, the survey indicates that the crucial concerns of the participathing libraries are ineffective book management and the duplication of book numbers. In addition, the survey indicates that the priorities of the libraries is removing duplicated numbers, adhering to the current system, and keeping the same book arrangement system. Therefore, this study suggests the components for the expansion of the book number system and the necessity of standardization of diverse book numbers.

Tanakius kitaharae and Glyptocephalus stelleri, belonging to the family Pleuronectidae, were very similar in external morphology not only during adult periods, but also during larval periods. In this study, we compared larval development and growth of the two pleuronectids species in detail. Fifty-eight specimens of T. kitaharae larvae and five specimens of G. stelleri larvae were collected from the East Sea, southern Korean Strait, and the adjacent waters of Jeju Island during 2014~2016, and were identified using morphological and molecular markers. Flexion larvae of T. kitaharae (10.23~16.77 mm total length, TL) and G. stelleri (14.33 mm TL) were similar in morphometrics, but can be distinguished by the melanophores in the fin membranes (present in the former vs. absent in the latter), and the melanophores at posterior margin of shoulder girdle (absent in the former vs. present in the latter). Postflexion larvae of T. kitaharae (17.12~24.92 mm TL) and G. stelleri (27.71~32.95 mm TL) differed in the number of melanophores on the mid-lateral caudal region (two in the former vs. five in the latter), and that on the dorsal and anal fin pterygiophores (five or six in the former vs. one row in the latter). Tanakius kitaharae and G. stelleri larvae differed in size at the beginning of metamorphosis. The left eye of T. kitaharae larvae between 23.13~24.92 mm TL reached the dorsal margin of the head while that of G. stelleri larvae between 38.66~42.67 mm TL did not reached yet.

The local bookstore direct loan service for users' requests in public libraries, which was launched in Gyeonggi Province, is a creative new service that has led to the revitalization of the local economy through the rise in sales of local bookstores and high user satisfaction. However, it is a service in which positive and negative reactions coexist as negative opinions are presented on the deterioration of the quality of public library books due to overlapping needs for desired books by users. Therefore, several ways of improving for local bookstore loan service in public libraries through a survey of public libraries, local bookstores, and users were suggested in this study. The local bookstore direct loan service for users' requests, which is a creative cooperation plan between public libraries and local bookstores, needs to constantly improve its services by increasing book purchase cost, organizing a steering committee for continuous communication and collecting plans through research on the book purchase cost. Also, it is necessary to improve its services by enacting regulations expanding reading culture services expanding the number of healthy users and fostering various local bookstores.
