  • Lactic acid bacteria was isolated for the production of probiotic animal feed supplemented with garlic and its antimicrobial properties were investigated. A total of 112 strains of lactic acid bacteria which grew on the medium containing garlic extract were isolated from kimchi, jeotgal, and jangachi. Among them 14 strains were tested for acidand bile salt-resistance as well as antimicrobial activities against animal pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella choleraesuis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Shigella flexneri. Of these strains, a strain P'GW50-2 from pickled scallion with most desirable properties was selected and identified as Lactobacillus plantarum TJ-LP-002. Antimicrobial activity of L. plantarum TJ-LP-002 showed relatively wide range of inhibition spectrum against Gram negative bacteria such as Aeromicrobium hydrophila, E. coli, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Shigella, and some Gram positive bacteria such as Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens, and Propionibacterium.

  • In the 1980's opening 79 of the end of 2013, the National Public Library that had been It was 885 its opening remains in effect. Especially in the 2000s after 60% of the whole library, a library erected since the advent of the library is enough to be a significant quantitative expansion. The resulting to make a qualitative aspect of public libraries and increase users' needs for efficient space configuration. IIn particular, the user is to serve the needs of digital reading room and the increase of the cultural training changes after 2000 years ago, and appears as due to the implications of space configuration in an age-appropriate library space off the rate plan is a necessary point. The study in the 1980s-1990s, built public library established since the year 2000 centered on public library mutual comparative analysis of space configuration form. Book reading function was the conservation and highlight 1980-1990s and considered by the side of the users culture area extended since the 2000s, public library takes the difference between the ratio of the area of the facility by the area in which you can meet the standards required and the age.

  • Hanging scrolls and handscrolls are common mounting for East Asian painting and calligraphy in which wooden Chukmok with Chukdu of various materials are attached either at the top and bottom or at each side of a work. Hanging scroll paintings or calligraphy can be hung for appreciation and rolled up for preservation. The Chukmok and Chukdu of a hanging scroll were made from different materials and were known by distinct names in Korea, China, and Japan. In Korea, the wooden Chukmok were called sanghachukhoengmok(上下軸橫木), which means horizontal wooden bars for the top and bottom axes. The wooden Chukdu were called Chukdu(軸頭), meaning the head of an axis. These Chukmok and Chukdu were made of Korean red pine, nut pine, or shiny xylosma. In China, the rod was called zhougan(軸杆) and zhoutou(軸頭), and they were made of Japanese cedar, sappan wood, or red sandalwood. In Japan, the top rod was called hassou(八双; 八裝) and the bottom jikugi(軸木), and they were made of Japanese cedar, red sandalwood, or crystal. In Korean hanging scrolls, the cross section of a Chukdu is either flat or round, and it can be either patterned or patternless. The designs include concentric circles, two circles, and three circles. Among the portraits of meritorious subjects analyzed in this study, three examples feature concentric circles on Chukdu with a flat cross section, which coincides with most of the king's instructions housed at the Jangseogak Archives. This suggests that flat Chukdu with a concentric circle pattern were used for binding most of the paintings of meritorious subjects commissioned by the royal court.

  • Culture conditions of L. plantarum TJ-LP-002, the garlic resistant strain isolated from pakimchi (green onion kimchi), were investigated for the use of feed additives. Acetic acid, citric acid, lactic acid, and tartaric acid were detected in the culture supernatant, and especially the concentrations of lactic acid and acetic acid significantly increased during cultivation. The antimicrobial activity of L. plantarum TJ-LP-002 was not affected by proteases, calatase or cellulase, which showed that the antimicrobial activity might be due to the production of acids rather than proteinaceous antimicrobial substances. L. plantarum TJ-LP-002 was resistant to neomycin sulfate, spectinomycin dihydrochloride, and lincomycin hydrochloride, sensitive to streptomycin sulfate, and intermediate resistant to ampicillin trihydrate, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracycline hydrochloride, and kanamycin sulfate. The optimum initial pH of medium, fermentation temperature and time for the cell growth and antibacterial activity were pH 7.0, 30${^{\circ}C}$ and 24hr, respectively. The optimal composition of culture medium for the cell growth and antimicrobial activity was 3%(w/v) glucose as a carbon source, 3%(w/v) yeast extract as a nitrogen source, and manganese sulfate and ammonium citrate as inorganic salts. The combinatorial supplementation of these inorganic salts, rather than sole addition as an inorganic salt, resulted in better antibacterial activity.
