  • Vertically aligned single-crystal ZnO nanowires have been successfully grown on c-plane sapphire substrate using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) without catalyst. According to growth temperatures, it was changed ZnO growth characteristic. We investigated the effect of substrate temperatures on the growth ZnO films or nanowires on c-plane (0001) sapphire substrates. The ZnO films were acquired at $500^{\circ}C$, whereas the ZnO nanowires were obtained at $600^{\circ}C$, $700^{\circ}C$, and $800^{\circ}C$. The growth behavior diameter and growth rate of ZnO were changed due to different temperature. As a result of analyzing in-plane residual stress by X-ray diffraction, the optimized condition of ZnO nanowires were at $600^{\circ}C$.

  • Mongdueui(蒙頭衣) and mongduri(蒙頭里) in the Joseon dynasty was one of women's robe. The style of Mongdueui was same as Chinese baeja(褙子 $\cdot$ vest) having non-overlapping front opening with collar, This form was conformed through the wonsam excavated baeja from tomb of South Song dynasty. The basic construction was same as Joseon dynasty's except the collar. In the early Joseon dynasty the noble women wore Jangsam(長衫) as an outer wear, the common and lower class women wore Mongdueui, and the queen and royal household we baeja. The court lady wore baeja as well as Mongdueui for funeral ceremony. The style of women's robes was classified into two categories by the literature Byungwajip(甁窩集). The first was the hongjangsam(紅長衫長) in red for noble women. The other was the mongduri for the common lady. Whangchosam the outer wear of Jeongjaeyong(呈才女伶), a professional women entertainer, having non-overlapping front opening with collar, has been examined in the painting. And it had been evolved into the shaman's clothing in the last stage of Joseon dynasty.

  • This study aims to examine the costumes, which a shaman wears for the ritual of exorcism in the Honam region. The findings are based on a field survey of the exorcism ritual, which is performed by hereditary shamans and forms part of an annual event in the Honam region. Two main features of the shamans' costumes were observed. Firstly, the types of shamanic costume worn for gut reflected the general traditional costume but with some variations. White-colored costumes are largely found in the Honam region. Secondly, the types of costumes, which shamans wear in the Honam region. are also varied. The different types of shamanic costumes, regardless of Ga-sa, can be classified into Jang-sam, Jeon-bok, or Duru-magi, variations in the patterns of costumes, differences in the types of conical hat, and modifications in the dress code.

  • The prevention of roll breakage in hot rolling process is improtant to reduce maintenance cost and production loss. Rolling conditions such as the roll force and torque have been intensively studied to overcome the roll breakage. in the present work, a model for life prediction of work rolls under working condition was developed and discussed. The model consists of stress analysis, crack propagation, wear and fatigue calculation model. Roll life can be predicted by stress, crack depth and fatigue damage calculated from this model. The reliability of stress analysis is backed up by the FEM analysis. From the result of simulation using by pressent model, although the fatigue damage of back up roll reachs 80% of practical limit, that of workroll was less than 40%. In edge section of workroll stress amplification is found by wear and bender effect. We can judge that workroll failures are not due to fatigue damage, crack propagation by bending stress but stress amplification by wear and bender in present working condition.

  • Jaesuk-koli an important part of the 12 shamanistic rituals, is an accepted buddhist monk's costume. In this paper, the Jaesuk-kori costume and its meaning are studied. The ornaments of shaman's costume differe somewhat from region among individual shamans, but the symbolic meansing are fairly similar. The significance of Jaesuk-kori shaman's costume ar as followed ; First , a Buddhist monk's costume is accpted in the Jaesuk-kori ritual costume. Second, a shaman wears Jangsam (long-sleeved buddhist robe) and Kasa (surplice) in the Jaesuk-kori rituals. Third, the ornament of Sipjangsang objects search for earthly happiness while the rotus flower embroidered on the costume , depicts purity in the heaven world. Fourth, five colors in the Jaesuk-kori costume represented, Yin and Yang of universal harmony. Jesuk-kori ritual costumes signify that traditioal shamanism was accepted and absorbed into Buddhist rituals system.

  • It is important to prevent roll failure in hot rolling process for reducing maintenance coat and production loss. Roll material and rolling conditions such as the roll force and torque have been intensively investigated to overcome the roll failures. In this study, a computer roll life prediction system under working condition is developed and evaluated on IBM-PC level. The system is composed and fatigue estimation models which are stress analysis, crack propagation, wear and fatigue estimation. Roll damage can be predicted by calculating the stress anplification, crack depth propagation and fatigue level in the roll using this computer model. The developed system is applied to a work roll in actual hot rolling process for reliability evaluation. Roll failures can be diagnosed and the propriety of current working condition can be determined through roll life prediction simulation.

  • The Buddhist dance, which is considered to be the essence of Korean folk dance, has changed and developed over many years, having profound influential relations with Buddhism in terms of its origin, source, title, and costumes. Today the Buddhist dance is performed in two fixed types, Jangsam dance and Buk dance, but it is estimated that there must have been various forms of Buddhist dance during the Japanese rule based on the its historicity and various origination theories. It was around 1940 that Jang Yang-seon, the master of Haejugwonbeon, turned 'Seungininsangmu' into a work through Yang So-woon. The present study analyzed the video of 'Seungininsangmu' performed at the 'Performance in the Memory of Yang So-woon' in 2010, and the analysis results were as follows: first, the dance has a clear message to be delivered in its title and connotes an origination theory of Buddhist dance, which argues that the Buddhist dance was created by a Buddhist that underwent agony and corruption during his ascetic practice and later returned to Buddhism. Secondly, the process of Jangsam dance - Buknori - Bara dance - Heoteun dance - Hoisimgok - Guiui shows the thematic consciousness of the dance clearly in a sequential manner. Finally, the dance was in a form of combining various expressive methods according to the story and its development including the Bara dance, a dance performed in a Buddhist ceremony, the Heoteun dance, which is strongly characterized by individuality and spontaneity that are folk features, and Hoisimgok, the Buddhist music. Those findings indicate that the dance reflected well the flow of putting the Buddhist dance on the stage or turning it into a work in the early 20th century. Compared with the types of Buddhist dance in a strong form including the Jangsam dance and Buk dance, 'Seungininsangmu' conveys the meanings that the original Buddhist dance tried to express in terms of content and reflects on the diversity of combined Akgamu and theatrical elements in terms of form. The present study is significant in that it offers many implications for the Buddhist dance capable of future-oriented development.

  • The effects of additives on the Zn electrodeposition in chloride-based electrolyte were investigated using circulation cell with three electrodes system. The cathodic polarization increased with the addition of polyethylenglycol (hereafter PEG) in electrolyte. This was attributed to the adsorption of the additives on the electrode and the inhibition of migration of metal ion. The PEG, however, did not have any noticeable effect on the properties of plating solutions at the concentration used. The effect of PEG on the electrocrystallization was related to its molecular weight. With the increase of molecular weight, the cathodic polarization increased, while the surface roughness was improved with the decrease of brightness. Especially, the PEG mixed with different molecular weights was the most effective. The orientation and the type of the deposited grains were changed and refined by PEG, which resulted in the modification of deposited surface roughness and brightness.

  • The growth of three-dimensional ZnO hybrid structures by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition was controlled through their growth pressure. Vertically aligned ZnO nanorods were grown on c-plane sapphire substrate at $600^{\circ}C$ and 400 Torr. ZnO film was then formed in-situ on the ZnO nanorods at $600^{\circ}C$ and 10 Torr. High-resolution X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy measurements showed that the ZnO film on the nanorods/sapphire grew epitaxially, and that the ZnO film/nanorods hybrid structures had well-ordered wurtzite structures. The hybrid ZnO structure was shown to be about 5 ${\mu}m$ by field-emission scanning electron microscopy. The hybrid structure showed better crystalline quality than mono-layer film on sapphire substrate. Consequently, purpose of this work is developing high quality hybrid epi-growth technology using nano structure. These structures have potential applicability as nanobuilding blocks in nanodevices.
