The present study investigated the validity of an equilibrium shoreline empirical formula for real phenomena. Among three types of equilibrium shoreline formulas, Hsu's parabolic type static formula was employed, which is well-known and the most practical for shoreline estimation after coastal or harbor structure construction. The wave data observed at Maengbang beach and the CERC formula on longshore sediment transport were used in the present investigation. A comparison study was only conducted for the case of a shoreline change after the construction of a groyne. Reasonable agreement was seen between the observed wave data and the data obtained under a wave angle spreading function S = 3.5. However, significant changes were observed when S increased. Thus, careful application is required when using Hsu's formula.

3월 8일은 '세계 여성의 날' 이다. 1908년 당시 미국의 여성노동자들은 먼지 자욱한 현장에서 하루 12~14시간씩 일해야 했으나, 여성이라는 이유만으로 선거권과 노동조합 결성의 자유가 주어지지 않았다. 굶지 않기 위해 일하면서도 인간 이하의 삶을 강요받아야 했던 것이다. 그러던 1908년 3월 8일, 전 의류노동자들의 시위를 계기로 의류노동자연합이라는 조직이 탄생됐다. 이를 기념해 1911년부터 3월 8일을 '세계여성의 날'로 선정해 세계 곳곳에서 여성의 날 기념행사를 펼쳐오고 있다. 여성의 날에는 '그녀에게 빵과 장미를'이라는 구호를 외치는데, 여기서 빵은 생존을, 장미는 인간 존엄을 의미한다. 세계 여성의 날을 맞아 예전보다는 많이 호전됐지만 이직도 갈 길이 먼 여성경영활동 여건과 여성인쇄인에 대해 알아본다.

A prototype cut-flower sorter was developed and tested for its performance with five varieties of roses. Support plates driven by a chain mechanism transported the roses into an image inspection chamber. Color image processing algorithms were developed to evaluate the length, thickness, and straightness of stem and color, height, and maturity of bud. The average absolute errors of the system for the measurements of stem length, stem thickness, and height of bud were 19.7 mm, 0.5 mm, and 3.8 mm, respectively. The results of classification by the sorter were compared with those of a human inspector for straightness of stem and maturity of bud. The classification error for the straightness of stem was 8.6%, when both direct image and reflected image by a mirror were analyzed. The accuracy in classifying the maturity of bud varied among the varieties, the smallest for‘Nobless’(1.5%) and the largest for‘Rote Rose’(13.5%). The time required to process a rose averaged 2.06 seconds, equivalent to the capacity of 1,600 roses per hour.

올해의 가장 유망 산업은 보안산업이다. 이 말은 올해가 시작되면서 IT업계에 가장 많이 나돌던 말이다. 그러면 과연 보안산업이 IT산업에서 가장 유망 산업답게 올해 상반기를 장미빛으로 세월을 보낸 것일까? 이에 대한 답은 다양하게 나올 것이다. 우선 결론부터 말한다면 많은 업체들이 '아니다'라고 말하고 있다. 실제로 보안산업은 올 초에 약속했던 고속성장은 보이질 않았다. 물론, 전체적인 IT경기 침체속에서 보안산업은 그래도 조금은 나은 형편이다. 그러나 보안시장이 전체 경기침체의 바람을 피해가는 사각지대에 있었던 것은 결코 아니었다. 이와 관련 업계의 상반기 결산에 관한 의견들은 의외로 장미빛이라고 말하는 업체들도 있지만 그렇지 못하고 고배를 들어야만 하는 업체도 늘어났던 것만은 사실이다. 이에 본지는 2001년도 상반기 보안시장에 대해 철저한 분석과 향후 전망에 대해 짚어본다.

본 연구에서는 EEG반응을 통하여 향이 인간에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 평균나이 23.9세의 남녀 피험자 각각 10명을 대상으로 전두엽(Fz)과 두정엽(Cz)에서 EEG를 기록하였다. 대역별 relative power spectrum 값을 구하여 $\alpha$대역에 대한 $\beta$대역의 비($\beta$/$\alpha$)를 통하여 전체 또는 남녀의 성별에 대한 향의 쾌도를 구분하였다. 실험에 사용된 향은 Rose oil bulgrian, Lemon oil misitano, Jasmine abs., Lavender oil france(KIMEX.co.ltd) 등 4가지의 천연오일을 사용하였다. 전체 피험자에 대하여 쾌도는 레몬-라벤다-자스민-장미 순으로 평가되었고 라벤다와 레몬 사이에 0.5%의 유의차가 있었다. 이는 주관적 평가와 상관성을 보였다. 남녀 성별 구분에 있어서는 가장 쾌하다고 생각되는 향이 남자는 라벤다, 여자는 레몬으로 평가되었고, 가장 불쾌한 향은 남녀 모두 장미로 나타났다. 이에 대한 통계학적 의미는 결과에 나타내었다.
