  • The looper control of hot strip finishing mill is one of the most important control item In hot strip rolling mill process. Loopers are placed between finishing mill stands and control the mass flow of the two stands. Another important action of the looper is to control the strip tension which influences on the width of the strip. So it is very important to control both the looper angle and the strip tension simultaneously but the looper angle and the strip tension are strongly interacted by each other. The gain scheduling is to break the control design process into two steps. First, one designs local linear controllers based on linerizations of the nonlinear system at several different operating conditions. Second, a global nonlinear controller for the nonlinear system is obtained by interpolating.

  • We describe the looper controller design for a hot strip mill. The looper is to control the strip tension which influences on the width of the strip. It is very important to control the looper control of the hot strip mill, but difficult to control the looper, because there exists on mutual interaction among strip gauge, looper angle, and strip tension. In this paper, we present the modeling for the hot strip finishing mill to control the tension of the strip and suggest a cross control method. The cross control is a very simple method that allows non-interacting control.

  • 본 논문에서는 투과성 유연막이 수면밑 일정한 깊이에 수평으로 잠겨있을 때 투과성 유연막에 의한 파랑제어성능을 살펴보았다. 해석 방법으로는 유체문제는 고유함수전개법 (Eigenfunction expansion method)을 사용하였고, 유연막과 파랑의 상호작용문제는 Newmann 이 제시한 유탄성 이론 (hydro-elastic theory)을 채택하였다. 막의 투과성 효과를 고려하기 위하여 수평막에서의 수직속도는 수평막 상하의 압력차에 선형적으로 비례하며 그들 사이에는 위상차가 없다고 가정한 Darcy 법칙을 사용하였다. 투과성 수평막의 설계변수 (초기장력, 길이, 잠긴 깊이, 공극율)와 입사파의 주파수를 바꿔가면서 반사율과 투과율 그리고 에너지 손실율을 살펴보았다.

실 제조공정을 위한 장력제어기의 성능 개선 (Performance Enhancement of Tension Controller for the Yarn Manufacturing Process)

  • This paper aims at the performance enhancement of tension controller for the yarn manufacturing process. The tension controller is required to keep the tension constant while the yarn is manufactured by a draw and twist machine, which is essential and critical for good quality production of yarn, steel, paper, etc. This paper proposes a linear model of tension control plant to develop a precise tension control system, which is derived by the close observation of the conventional mathematical model of motor driving and tension control systems. It is shown by experiments that the proposed control system precisely maintains the tension constant within the error bound of 0.05% while the conventional PI controller has about 0.2% error. The control performance of the system has been compared to that of conventional PI control not only for constant speed control but also for transient speed control experiments.

  • Micro electrical discharge machining (EDM) as a non-contact machining process is very effective for micromachining with a thin electrode because of its low machining reaction force. The micro-electrode machining device has the advantage of maintaining high precision through the whole processes and uses a feeding wire in the thin electrode tool manufacturing process. This study describes the design and evaluation of a micro-electrode machining device using optical photo-interrupter. The electrode was fabricated by reverse electrical discharge machining. The performance of designed system was evaluated to measure tension force according to feed speed of wire. This system for micro electrode fabrication proves the feasibility in the micro-EDM process of the micro holes and parts for industrial applications.

  • The recent large-spatial structures are frequently made from light-weight structural system and it has a good mechanical efficiency and uses new materials. The large space is made by light-weight structural system using tension members mainly, and generally it is called a soft structure. The cable dome structures which are a soft structures are very flexible, the stresses and nodal coordinates of other members are changed when we control the stress of one member. Therefore, we have to do two kind of works for effective and accurate construction of the cable dome structures. The first work is making a working scenario to complete the final objective form and the second is revising constructional errors occurred in process of the actual works. These works are called constructional analysis. At this time, we have to consider geometric nonlinearity to reflect the sensitivity by the initial stresses of cable dome structures, and constructional analysis comes down to a nonlinear problem after all. In this study, we try to approach the constructional analysis of the cable dome structures using the numerical method, and then verify it.

  • 텐터의 성능을 결정하는 요인은 여러 가지가 있으나, 섬유의 종류 또는 가공 공정의 목적에 따라 적절한 건조속도 및 효율성, 원단의 전 폭에 걸친 건조 균일도, 습윤 공기의 자동 배출, 원단의 장력 및 오버피드, 그리고 각종 자동화 제어 장치의 활용 등으로 구분되어 질 수 있으며, 그러므로 텐터기 챔버 내부의 공간구조에 따른 비효율적 유로형상과 공기 분사노즐 정확한 압력 및 온도분포에 대한 현장 기초자료를 확보하여 텐터의 에너지 절약 및 건조 원단의 품질을 향상시킬 수 있는 구조의 설계가 요구된다.

열간압연공정의 스트립 선미단부 루퍼-장력 제어 (Looper-Tension Control of Strip Top-Tail Parts for Hot Rolling Mills)

  • This paper designs a looper-tension controller for strip top-tail parts in hot strip finishing mills. A three-degree linear model of the looper-tension system is derived by a Taylor's linearization method, where the actuator's dynamics are ignored because of their fast responses. A feedforward shaping controller for the strip top part and a feedforward model reference controller for the strip tail part are respectively designed, they are combined with an ILQ(Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) feedback controller for the strip middle part. It is shown from by a computer simulation that the proposed controller is very effective to the strip top-tail parts including the middle part.

  • A high precision hot strip width control method has been developed in this study by applying interstand looper tension measuring system at finishing mill stands. As with deviation of hot rolled steel strip is closely related to abnormal increase in the interstand strip tension, on-line measuring device of looped tension and data analyzing system was developed in this study. To determine dominant factors that will cause local width shortage, the logged data sets of bar width, bar thickness, looper tension, and strip thickness along the strip length were correlated with the data set of strip width change. With the result of the correlation analysis, existing sequence control logic and parameters for looper actuator were modified for strip width quality and the gains of the looper control were refined for the stable operation during the full passage of rolled strip. The on-line tension measurement and tension feedback control for looper system improved strip travelling stability and reduced strip width deviation in the srip top end region.

전자 제어식 주차브레이크(EPB)의 성능분석 (Performance Analysis of Electronic Parking Brake)

  • Electric Parking Brake(EPB) is the system operated by electric control actuator. It differs from the mechanical parking brake system which is operated by lever and pedal in need of human power. The EPB system is composed of DC motor, helical and differential epicyclic gear, screw, cables, and sensor. This paper describes about the EPB system mathematically and constructs a modeling of the EPB system using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Especially, SimMechanics library in SIMULINK is used to make each parts of system a module. By made modeling of the friction torque between bolt and nut. Cable tension can be maintained after the motor operating stops.
