A Proposal of Remaining Useful Life Prediction Model for Turbofan Engine based on k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN을 활용한 터보팬 엔진의 잔여 유효 수명 예측 모델 제안)

  • The maintenance industry is mainly progressing based on condition-based maintenance after corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance. In condition-based maintenance, maintenance is performed at the optimum time based on the condition of equipment. In order to find the optimal maintenance point, it is important to accurately understand the condition of the equipment, especially the remaining useful life. Thus, using simulation data (C-MAPSS), a prediction model is proposed to predict the remaining useful life of a turbofan engine. For the modeling process, a C-MAPSS dataset was preprocessed, transformed, and predicted. Data pre-processing was performed through piecewise RUL, moving average filters, and standardization. The remaining useful life was predicted using principal component analysis and the k-NN method. In order to derive the optimal performance, the number of principal components and the number of neighbor data for the k-NN method were determined through 5-fold cross validation. The validity of the prediction results was analyzed through a scoring function while considering the usefulness of prior prediction and the incompatibility of post prediction. In addition, the usefulness of the RUL prediction model was proven through comparison with the prediction performance of other neural network-based algorithms.

Analysis of Efficiencies of Korea's Domestic Airports With Radial and Non-radial Approaches (방사적 및 비방사적 접근법을 이용한 국내공항의 효율성 분석)

  • This study analyzed relative efficiencies of fourteen airports in Korea with radial and non-radial approaches such as DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) and SBM(Slack Based Measure) from 2004 to 2011. To suggest an improvement scheme for these airports, we analyzed slack airports and compared then with respective reference airports. To measure efficiency, we used the length of runway, the number of employees, and the size of terminal as input factors, and the number of passengers, the amount of cargo, and the number of flights as output factors. The analysis results showed that efficiencies of most airports had been decreasing and that the gap between efficient airports and inefficient airports was widening. Additionally, most airports had much slacks in its terminal size. It meant that they had been operated with a size not proportionate to their demands and that it is a major cause of inefficiency.

$CO_2$ 클러스터 표면 처리를 이용한 그래핀 특성 향상에 관한 연구

  • 그래핀은 높은 전자 이동도, 열전도도, 기계적 강도, 유연성 등의 고유한 특성으로 다양한 분야에 응용하기 위한 연구가 수행되고 있으며, 특히 전자 소자에의 적용에 관한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 전자 소자에 적용하기 위해서는 성장 및 물성에 관한 규명, 응용 소자에 따른 특성 평가가 필요하다. 이러한 소자 특성은 그래핀 물성에 의한 영향이 기본적이지만 에칭, 전사 등의 공정 중 발생하는 오염, 표면 특성, 잔여물 등에 의한 물성 변화 또한 분석 및 제어에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 열화학증착법(thermal chemical vapor deposition)을 이용한 그래핀 합성은 구리 기판을 사용하며, 합성된 그래핀의 에칭, 박리 및 전사 공정이 있다. 이러한 공정 중 발생하는 오염 입자가 그래핀 표면에 흡착되거나, 제거되지 않은 PMMA 잔여물이 그래핀의 특성에 영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 $CO_2$ 클러스터의 표면 충돌을 이용하여 이러한 오염 물질 및 잔여물을 제거하고 그래핀 표면을 평탄화하는 것에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 가스 클러스터란 작동기체의 분자가 수십에서 수백 개 뭉쳐 있는 형태를 뜻하며 이렇게 형성된 클러스터는 수 nm 크기를 형성하게 된다. 그리고 짧은 시간의 응축에 의해 수십 nm 크기 까지 성장 하게 된다. 클러스터를 이용한 표면 처리는 충돌에 의한 제거에 기반 한다. 따라서 생성 및 가속되는 클러스터로부터 대상으로 전달되는 운동량의 정도가 세정 특성에 영향을 미치며 이는 생성되는 클러스터의 크기에 종속적이다. 생성 클러스터의 크기 분포는 분사거리, 유량, 분사 각도, 노즐 냉각 온도 등의 변수에 관한 함수이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 변수들을 제어하여 클러스터를 이용한 그래핀 표면 처리 실험을 수행하였다. 평가는 클러스터 표면 처리 전과 후의 특성 비교에 기반 하였으며, 광학 현미경을 이용한 표면 형상 측정, 라만분광 분석, AFM을 이용한 표면 조도 측정, 그래핀 면저항 측정 결과를 비교하였다. 평가 결과를 통하여 표면 처리를 하지 않은 그래핀에 비하여 면저항과 표면 조도가 낮아지는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 클러스터 세정은 300 mm 웨이퍼 크기 이상의 대면적을 짧은 시간에 건식으로 세정할 수 있다는 장점이 있어 향후 최적화를 통해 그래핀 양산 시 특성 향상을 위한 후처리 방법으로 사용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Machine Learning Model for Predicting the Residual Useful Lifetime of the CNC Milling Insert (공작기계의 절삭용 인서트의 잔여 유효 수명 예측 모형)

  • For the implementation of a smart factory, it is necessary to collect data by connecting various sensors and devices in the manufacturing environment and to diagnose or predict failures in production facilities through data analysis. In this paper, to predict the residual useful lifetime of milling insert used for machining products in CNC machine, weight k-NN algorithm, Decision Tree, SVR, XGBoost, Random forest, 1D-CNN, and frequency spectrum based on vibration signal are investigated. As the results of the paper, the frequency spectrum does not provide a reliable criterion for an accurate prediction of the residual useful lifetime of an insert. And the weighted k-nearest neighbor algorithm performed best with an MAE of 0.0013, MSE of 0.004, and RMSE of 0.0192. This is an error of 0.001 seconds of the remaining useful lifetime of the insert predicted by the weighted-nearest neighbor algorithm, and it is considered to be a level that can be applied to actual industrial sites.

Efficient Interference Alignment for Uplink MIMO/FDD Systems with Limited Feedback (제한된 궤환 채널 기반 상향링크 MIMO/FDD 시스템에서의 효율적인 간섭 정렬 기법)

  • Assuming perfect channel state information (CSI), the conventional interference alignment (IA) algorithm in the uplink cellular system suppresses inter-cell interference (ICI) by aligning ICI to a randomly selected reference vector. However, IA in practice relies on limited feedback between base stations and users, resulting in residual ICI. In this paper, we propose the optimization of the reference vector that minimizes the upper-bound of residual ICI power. Secondly, the iterative IA that designs the direction of transmit and receive filter is proposed to minimize the residual ICI as well as maximize the desired signals. Moreover, we propose the user scheduling method combined with proposed IA schemes which provides the multiuser diversity gain in multi-cell environments. Finally, the performance gain of the proposed IA algorithms compared with the existing IA are analyzed and demonstrated by simulation results.

  • This paper proposes the dynamic slot allocation method for real-time VBR (rt-VBR) services in wireless ATM networks. The proposed method is characterized by a contention-based mechanism of the reservation request, a contention-free polling scheme for transferring the dynamic parameters. The base station scheduler allocates a dynamic parameter minislot to the wireless terminal for transferring the residual lifetime and the number of requesting slots as the dynamic parameters. The scheduling algorithm uses a priority scheme based on the maximum cell transfer delay parameter. Based on the received dynamic parameters, the scheduler allocates the uplink slots to the wireless terminal with the most stringent delay requirement. The simulation results show that the proposed method guarantee the delay constraint of rt-VBR services along with its cell loss rate significantly reduced.

  • Interference alignment (IA) is a data transmission technique that achieves the maximum degrees-of-freedom (DoF) in the multiuser interference channel for high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). However, most prior works on IA are based on the unrealistic assumption that perfect and global channel-state information (CSI) is available at all transmitters and receivers. In this paper, we propose the efficient design of feedback framework for IA that substantially suppresses the feedback overhead. While the feedback overhead in the conventional IA quadratically increases with K, the proposed feedback scheme supports the sequential exchange of computed IA precoders between transmitters and receivers and reduces the feedback overhead that linearly scales with K. Moreover, we analyze the residual interference due to the quantization error in limited feedback and propose the ordered IA algorithm that selects IA pair to minimize the sum residual interference in given channel realizations.

  • In this paper, multi-GNSS network RTK MAC correction generation software developed based on MATLAB GUI is introduced. The software was developed as a post-processing software based on simulation data to evaluate the feasibility of an algorithm for generating correction for multi-GNSS including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. As a result of software operation, network RTK correction for each system of multi-GNSS is output in MATLAB file format. In this paper, to evaluate the performance of the developed software, the residual error was analyzed after applying the correction generated through the software to the user. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that effective network RTK correction could be generated by confirming that the residual errors of users were maintained at 10 cm or less.

  • Labor work information can be converted into the useful construction information in an effort to analyze project status, measure performance, and design a new similar project plan. The labor work information can also be used to make productivity data, which can be used to analyze the relationship between 'as planned' and 'as built' in scheduling management of a project, and to calculate 'percent completion' as well as analyzing delay cause. It is require to effectively collect the labor work information base on the activities. In general, current project management heavily depends on the experience and judgment of project managers, according to the work progress. However, relying on the oかy experience and judgment of the project managers might deteriorate the transparency or reliability of the collected labor work information. The purpose of this research is thus to develop a computer-based system for monitoring the work information generated by labors input in activities using PDA and Barcode technologies, and to propose a application method of the productivity data for effective project management.

  • Since the ubiquitous sensor network is not connected to external power source and operated by its own battery, it is required to maximize the network life using the efficient energy utilization. In a conventional hop count based routing protocol, most sensor nodes are designed with a constant transmission power. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol that prolongs the network lifetime by balancing the power consumption among the nodes by controlling the transmit power according to the residual power of the nodes, and compared the performance of the proposed routing protocol through computer simulations.
