A numerical analysis was performed for concentration of methane from the biogas using a polysulfone hollow fiber membrane permeator. Governing equations were derived for the countercurrent flow and numerically solved by using the Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6 software. When the methane mole fraction of feed was 0.5, the mole fraction of retentate increased from 0.5 to 0.8; the normalized retentate flow rate to the feed flow rate decreased from 1.0 to 0.57 at the given typical operating condition as the feed gas flowed from the inlet to the outlet of the membrane. As the methane mole fraction of feed was changed to 0.9, the methane mole fraction of retentate became 0.93 and the normalized retentate flow rate was changed to 0.91. When the pressure ratio of the permeate to the feed was varied from 0.33 to 0.17, there was a little difference in the methane mole fraction of retentate for the low stage cut of 0.1, whereas there was an significant increment for the high stage cut of 0.3. The retentate methane mole fraction remained relatively high despite the change of a stage cut as the area of the membrane increased from $1.14m^2$ to $2.57m^2$.
Three types of veterinary antibiotics, including oxytetracycline (OTC) and chlortetracycline (CTC) of tetracycline class and amoxicillin (AMX) of penicilline class, were artificially introduced into the irrigation water. The residue of veterinary antibiotics in the soil, the absorption-translocation of veterinary antibiotics into the red lettuce and young radish plant, and crops yield were investigated according to the agricultural water irrigation method (surface drip irrigation, underground drip irrigation, and sprinkler irrigation). There was no significant difference in the residue and translocation of veterinary antibiotics in the soils and crops according to the irrigation method and type of veterinary antibiotics (p>0.05). For the edible parts of red lettuce and young radish, all three types of veterinary antibiotics were found to be below the detection limit, indicating that the safety of the crops was secured. The translocation factor of red lettuce and young radish were found to be less than 0.3 and 0.2, respectively. However, continuous introduction of veterinary antibiotics in agricultural arable lands may have negative effects by affecting soil microbial activity and soil microbe species diversity, so continuous management is deemed necessary.

The paper presents a basic investigation for the development of cleaning technology employing an annular nozzle ejector for application to cleaning water supply and air bubble generation. The quantitative flow characteristics of the primary and suction flows, the qualitative visualization behavior of the mixed jet, and the percentage concentration of pesticide residual at different values of the ejector screw pitch were investigated. It was seen that the primary flow rate increased, while the mass ratio decreased with increase in screw pitch. Further, the mixed jet behaved like a buoyancy jet or horizontal bubbly jet, and the residual concentration of pesticide first decreased and then increased with increase in screw pitch.
BACKGROUND: In order to elucidate residual characteristics of difenoconazole and thiamethoxam by treatment to sweet persimmons for one year and to generate the data for the maximum residue limit (MRL) establishment for those pesticides in or on sweet persimmon. METHODS AND RESULTS: Systemic fungicide difenoconazole WP (10% a.i.) and systemic insecticide thiamethoxam WG (10% a.i.) were sprayed onto 12~25-years-old sweet persimmons according to its preharvest interval (PHI), respectively, and then fresh sweet persimmons were harvested at 0, 1, 3, 7, 14, 21 days after treatment from pesticide-sprayed plots at each 3 sites. The analytical methods were evaluated to limit of quantification, linearity, specificity, reproducibility and recoveries. The crop samples were extracted with acetone and performed dichloromethane partition process. The extracted samples of difenoconazole were analyzed by GC-ECD and the thiamethoxam extracted samples were analyzed by HPLC with good sensitivity and selectivity of the method. The average recoveries of difenoconazole ranged from 87.5 to 99.5% with the percentage of coefficient variation in the range 4.1~7.6% at three different spiking levels(0.02, 0.2 and 2.0 mg/kg). And the average recoveries of thiamethoxam and clothianidin ranged from 88.8 to 98.9% and 83.2 to 96.6% with the percentage of coefficient variation in the range 3.6~5.0% and 3.8~9.4% at three different spiking levels(0.02, 0.2 and 2.0 mg/kg), respectively. The residue amounts ranges of difenoconazole were 0.2~0.56 mg/kg and the residue amount was decreased below the MRL level, 1.0 mg/kg, after 1 day harvest. The residue amounts ranges of thiamethoxam were 0.08~0.28 mg/kg and the residue amount was decreased below the MRL level, 0.5 mg/kg, after 1 day harvest. And the residue amount of clothianidin was below then 0.03 mg/kg for only one test site of 14 and 28 day samples. CONCLUSION: As a result, the residual amounts of difenoconazole and thiamethoxam were not exceeded the MRL of established criteria for sweet persimmon. The biological half-lives of difenoconazole and thiamethoxam were 13.6, 19.4, 16.3 and 10.0, 15.3, 14.0 days at each three test sites, respectively.

This study was conducted to investigate the residual level and the amount of transfer to lettuce grown in field condition treated with the 5-methyl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b][1,3]benzothiazole (Azoxystrobin). The field trials on lettuce were carried out at two different green houses located in Gwangju (Field 1) and Yongin (Field 2). Soil and lettuce samples were collected at different days after soil treatment of azoxystrobin with two different concentrations, respectively. Average recoveries for azoxystrobin ranged from 86.9 to 113.6% from soil and lettuce with the variation coefficient of 0.1-4.6%. The initial concentrations of azoxystrobin in Gwangju soil were 9.20, 11.00 mg/kg and decreased to 1.36, 2.70 mg/kg at 43 DAT (days after treatment) in field 1, while 1.06, 2.23 mg/kg decreased to 0.20 and 0.67 mg/kg at 36 DAT in field 2, respectively. The half-lives of azoxystrobin were about 19.4 and 23.3 days for the low and high concentration of azoxystrobin treated soils in field 1 and 11.5 and 17.8 days in field 2 soils, respectively. Residue levels of azoxystrobin in lettuce were not detected in filed 1 and field 2 soils, respectively.

This paper provides a detailed account of pilot testing conducted at South Lake Tahoe (California), the Ddukdo (Seoul) water treatment plant (WTP) and the Bokjung (Seongnam) WTP between February, 2010, and February, 2012. The objectives were first, to characterize the reactions of ozone with hydrogen peroxide (Peroxone) for Han River water following sand filtration, second to determine empirical ozone and hydrogen peroxide doses to remove a taste-and-odor surrogate 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) using an advanced oxidation process (AOP) configuration and third, to determine the optimum dosing configuration to reduce residual ozone to a safe level at the exit of the process. The testing was performed in a real-time plant environment at both low- and high seasonal water temperatures. Experimental results including ozone decomposition rates were dependent on temperature and pH, consistent with data reported by other researchers. MIB in post-sand-filtration water was spiked to 40-50 ng/L, and in all cases, it was reduced to below the specified target level (7 ng/liter) and typically non-detect (ND). It was demonstrated that Peroxone could achieve both MIB removal and low effluent ozone residual at ozone+hydrogen peroxide doses less than those for ozone alone. An empirical predictive model, suitable for use by design engineers and operating personnel and for incorporation in plant control systems was developed. Due to a significant reduction in the ozone reaction/decomposition at low winter temperatures, results demonstrate the hydrogen peroxide can be "pre-conditioned" in order to increase initial reaction rates and achieve lower ozone residuals. Results also indicate the method, location and composition of hydrogen peroxide injection is critical to successful implementation of Peroxone without using excessive chemicals or degrading performance.

U.S. nuclear power plant decommissioning guidelines(MARSSIM and MARLAP) are recommends to use DQOs when planning and conducting site surveys. The DQOs which is constructed in the site survey planning stage provide a way to make the best use of data. It helps we can get the important information and data to make decisions as well. From fifth to seventh steps of DQOs are the process of designing a site survey by using the collected data and information in the previous step to make reasonable and reliable decisions. The gray region that is set up during this process is defined as the range of concentrations where the consequences of type II decision errors are relatively small. The gray region can be set using DCGL and the average concentration of radionuclide in the sample collected at the survey unit. By setting up the gray region, site survey plan can be made most resource-efficient and the consequences on decision errors can be minimized. In this study, we set up the gray region by using the DCGL of Kori-1 which was derived from the previous research. In addition, we proposed a method to assess the concentration of radionuclide in samples for making decisions correctly.
