  • This study was performed to investigate the residual characteristics of the insecticide dinotefuran in asparagus under greenhouse conditions from July to August and consequentially to obtain basic data for guidelines on the safe use of this pesticide in asparagus. Residues of dinotefuran in young stem of asparagus before and after growing mother stem were analyzed from samples collected at 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 days after single application of a commercial formulation of dinotefuran (wettable powder, 10%) at the recommended dose (2,000 times dilution). The residue of dinotefuran in young stem of asparagus was analyzed by HPLC-UVD, and recovery of dinotefuran in young stem was tested at 0.5 and 1.0 mg/kg concentrations. As a result, the limit of quantitation (LOQ) of dinotefuran was 0.01 mg/kg, and the recovery of dinotefuran was in the range of 83.3-94.0% with a coefficient of variation less than 10%. Residues of dinotefuran in young stem of asparagus before and after growing the mother stem were lower than the tentative limit (0.05 mg/kg) from 5 and 3 days after single application, respectively. Based on these results, single application of dinotefuran (wettable powder, 10%) at the recommended dose at 7 days before harvest would have no deleterious effects on safety issues concerning pesticide residue. This result might provide basic information to construct guidelines for the safe use of dinotefuran in asparagus.

  • The residue levels of flonicamid and its metabolites, 4-(trifluoromethyl)nicotinic acid (TFNA) and N-4-(trifluoromethyl)nicotinoyl glycine (TFNG) in sweer pepper were investigated to examine the residual characteristics of analytes for 87 days after pesticide application. The pesticide was applied once at recommended dosage and double dosage by foliar sprays and the samples of fruits and leaves of sweet pepper were collected for each treatment. The residues of flonicamid in all of fruits and leaves decreased gradually over time, while the residue levels of TFNG metabolite exhibited tendency that increased for long periods and thereafter decreased. Total flonicamid residual concentrations containing metabolites residues in fruit samples increased consistently until 30 days post-application and higher residue levels than residues at 1 day post-application were detected from 30 day to 87 day after treatment. The residue pattern observed in fruit could be explained by the movement of TFNG from leaves to fruits of plant. Such residual characteristic was similarly found in samples treated both recommended dosage and double dosage.

  • Monitoring the pesticide residues in agricultural products is essential to protect consumers, obtain data for risk assessment, and ensure fair trade practices. We developed a multi-residue method for the analysis of 37 pesticides with different physico-chemical properties in agricultural products and analyzed the amount of pesticide residues on about 1,000 samples circulated in South Korea. The samples consisted of 26 different types of agricultural products selected at markets in 14 major cities; cereals (2 species), nuts (1 species) potatoes (1 species), beans (2 species), fruits (3 species), vegetables (16 species), and mushrooms (1 species). In this study, residual pesticides were detected in 23 samples (2.2%) and one sample was detected to be over maximum residue limits (MRLs, 0.1%) for pesticides in foods by the Korea food code. In leafy vegetables such as pepper leaves, radish leaves, cham-na-mul, shin-sun-cho, crown daisy, chwi-na-mul and citrus fruits such as kumquat, 8 kinds of pesticides were detected. Specially, diazinon were detected over MRLs and also, endosulfan, ethoprophos and phenthoate were detected frequently. Based on these results, we investigated the risk assesment from amount of residual pesticide, total %ADI was 1.262%, but the value has not effected on human health.

  • Many foundation jobs have been designed and constructed in Korea with the sole information obtained from the SPT. The use of the CPT to estimate equivalent SPT values is becoming a common application for foundation design. The relationship between the CPT and the SPT has been determined in a number of studies over the past three decades. However a few papers have been published on the relationship between the CPT and the SPT in residual soil. Due to the large variation in published correlations between qt and N in residual soil, local correlations should be developed wherever possible. CPT tests have been carried out in the residual soil classified by SM in accordance with USCM and compared with SPT. Value of qt/N = 0.3 have been suggested for residual soil in Korea.

  • This study aimed to identify the effect of job embeddedness and organization attachment on the intention to stay of hospital nurses in the convergence society. The participants were 211 general hospital nurses; data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, Multiple regression. This study found that: hospital nurses showed higher score at job embeddedness, higher organization attachment, higher scores for intention to stay. The main factors influencing intention to stay were job embeddedness and organization attachment. They explained about 45% of the intention to stay. Thus, it is necessary to allocate tasks and evaluate appropriate to the nurse's ability and support individual and organizational activities that can enhance organizational attachment.

(Bayer CropScience-Korea, 2002). • Ionosphere, one of the largest error sources, can pose potentially harmful threat to single-frequency GNSS (global navigation satellite system) user even after applying ionospheric corrections to their GNSS measurements. To quantitatively assess ionospheric impacts on the satellite navigation-based applications using simulation, the standard deviation of residual ionospheric errors is needed. Thus, in this paper, we determine conservative statistical quantity that covers typical residual ionospheric errors for nominal days. Extensive data-processing computes TEC (total electron content) estimates from GNSS measurements collected from the Korean reference station networks. We use Klobuchar model as a correction to calculate residual ionospheric errors from TEC (total electron content) estimate. Finally, an exponential delay model for residual ionospheric errors is presented as a function of local time and satellite elevation angle.

  • The efects of application time on the persistence of chlorothalonil in sesame plants and its persistence in soil were studied in the field. A procedure was used which permited the analysis of residues of Chlorothalonil (DACONIL 2787) in sesame(Sesamum indicum L.)and soil. The procedure was based on the multiresidue analytical method using an polarized acetonitrile solution or acidified acetone as the extracting solvent. The DACONIL 2787 is separated from the fat in the extracts by using an activated alumina and Florisil chromatogaphic column. Residues of DACONIL 2787 were determined by subjecting the alternate eluate from the Florisil column to gas chromatographic analysis(ECD). Residue of chlorothalonil in sesame are proved to 0.06 ppm for six sprays, 3rd day before harvest The half-life of chlorothalonil in soil proved to be 8.9 days and residues of chlorothalonil was only 0.03 ppm 100 days after application of 15 ppm.
