Automatic Classification Algorithm for Raw Materials using Mean Shift Clustering and Stepwise Region Merging in Color (컬러 영상에서 평균 이동 클러스터링과 단계별 영역 병합을 이용한 자동 원료 분류 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a classification model by analyzing raw material images recorded using a color CCD camera to automatically classify good and defective agricultural products such as rice, coffee, and green tea, and raw materials. The current classifying agricultural products mainly depends on visual selection by skilled laborers. However, classification ability may drop owing to repeated labor for a long period of time. To resolve the problems of existing human dependant commercial products, we propose a vision based automatic raw material classification combining mean shift clustering and stepwise region merging algorithm. In this paper, the image is divided into N cluster regions by applying the mean-shift clustering algorithm to the foreground map image. Second, the representative regions among the N cluster regions are selected and stepwise region-merging method is applied to integrate similar cluster regions by comparing both color and positional proximity to neighboring regions. The merged raw material objects thereby are expressed in a 2D color distribution of RG, GB, and BR. Third, a threshold is used to detect good and defective products based on color distribution ellipse for merged material objects. From the results of carrying out an experiment with diverse raw material images using the proposed method, less artificial manipulation by the user is required compared to existing clustering and commercial methods, and classification accuracy on raw materials is improved.

Study on Flame Oscillations in Laminar Lift-off Butane Flames Diluted with Nitrogen (질소 희석된 부탄 부상화염에 있어서 화염진동에 관한 연구)

  • The characteristics of lifted butane flames diluted with nitrogen have been investigated experimentally in order to elucidate the mechanism of individual flame oscillation modes. Flame oscillations in laminar free-jet lift-off flames are classified into the following five regimes: a stabilized lift-off regime (I), a heat-loss-induced oscillation (II), a buoyancy-induced oscillation along with a heat-loss-induced oscillation (III), a combined form of an oscillation prior to blow-out and a heat-loss-induced oscillation (IV), and a combination of an oscillation prior to blow-out and a buoyancy-induced oscillation along with a heat-loss-induced oscillation (V). The characterization of the individual flame oscillations modes are presented and discussed using Strouhal numbers and their relevant parameters by the analysis of the power spectrum for temporal variation of the lift-off height.

  • The data processing of this study is based on the word data search in social media through textom and the big data analysis is carried out and three areas (2019 Gwangju World Swimming Championships, 2019 Gwangju World Swimming Masters Competition, 2019 World Swimming Championships Problem) was consistently handled through data collection and refinement in the web environment. We applied the collected words to the program of Ucinet6, visualized them, and conducted a CONCOR analysis to grasp the similar relationship of words and to identify the cluster of common factors. As a result of the analysis, the clusters related to the 2019 Gwangju World Swimming Championships mainly consisted of four major areas of recognition and perception, mainly searching for operational aspects related to the swimming championship, and the community related to the 2019 Gwangju World Swimming Masters Competition Is mainly searched for the promotion of the Masters Competition and the aspect of the competition divided into two areas of major recognition and peripheral recognition. The cluster related to the problems of the 2019 Gwangju World Swimming Championships is divided into five areas, And they are mainly searching for the place, operation, institution, event, etc. of the problem of the swimming championship.

Image Enhancement using Statistical Information of Pixel Dynamics (영상화소의 활동도를 이용한 화질 개선)

  • In this paper, we propose the novel approach to enhance the visual quality of the digital image with adaptively sharpening and removing the noise. Image enhancement is performed in two ways. The pixels in the high dynamics area are sharpened by the adaptive unsharp mask with the parameter, which is derived using the statistical information of the image. On the other hand, the proposed algorithm do not perform the sharpening process in the uniform area that may cause the undesired artifact due to noise amplification, rather it performs smoothing to suppress the noise in this area. The decision, which process will be applied at the pixel, is also controlled by the statistics of the pixel dynamics. The proposed algorithm enhances the visual quality almost automatically by sharpening and smoothing at the same time with less parameter selection.

  • Wear mechanisms may be briefly classified by mechanical, chemical and thermal wear. A plane strain finite element method is used with a new material stress and temperature fields to simulate orthogonal machining with continuous chip formation. Deformation of the workpiece material is healed as elastic-viscoplastic with isotropic strain hardening and the numerical solution accounts for coupling between plastic deformation and the temperature field, including treatment of temperature-dependent material properties. Effect of the uncertainty in the constitutive model on the distributions of strait stress and temperature around the shear zone are presented, and the model is validated by comparing average values of the predicted stress, strain, and temperature at the shear zone with experimental results.

  • People are important targets for video surveillance and monitoring(VSAM) but difficult to be analyzed. In this paper, a technique to count people in image sequences is dealt as a prerequisite procedure for automatic tracking and behaviour analysis. A group of people is divided at local minima of the line connecting the highest pixels on the binary image of the people extracted from the image taken by a stationary video camera. As the properties of the divided regions vary according to the relative positions of the people in a group, different states are assigned for the completely occluded, partially occluded, completed separated individual, and wrongly divided regions. By analyzing the transition of the states of divided regions, the number of people on the site monitored is estimated. The technique is checked in real experimental situations.

  • The ultimate goal of architecture is to construct a building through design and supervision. According to this circumstance, architectural education divided into two part ; design and construction. However, these two processes have to be one program for better education. In this aspect, steel housing program could be a desirable one because of its structural(bearing wall) system and relative short construction schedule. In KUT architectural program, steel housing has been one of the most effective and important for about ten years. In this research, the contents(s/w) and running process of this program and practice lab(h/w) will be introduced with detail. And this study could be a good guideline for a better combination program with theory and practice in architectural engineering field.

A Study on the Methods of Integrated Search in Digital Libraries Environment (디지털도서관의 통합검색 방식에 관한 연구)

  • This study intends to analyze the integrated search methods in digital libraries environment. To categorize various integration methods, I investigated the developmental properties and integration types of digital libraries from a users point of view. And then, I reviewed the current best practices of library portal which are JISC Information Environment, NSDL OCKHAM and Korea Knowledge Portal Initiatives. Nextly, I derived the two methods of Integrated search mechanisms such as aggregated search and distributed search that is useful in the digital libraries environment.

A Design of MPEG-1 Video Editing System at GOP boundaries (GOP 경계의 MPGE-1 편집 시스템 설계)

  • 본 논문은 GUI(Graphical User interface) 환경에서 MPGE-1 영상 편집을 위한 시스템 도구(Tool)를 기술한다. 기존에 출시된 제품은 일반적으로 AVI 나 MOV 포맷(format)을 사용하는데 비하여 본 논문에서는 MPGE-1을 압축 영역 상태에서 편집함으로써 영상의 품질과 저장의 효율성 및 처리속도에 많은 이점을 두었다. 편집 작업은 Random Access 의 기본 단위가 되는 GOP(Group of Picture) 단위의 경계 편집을 사용하여 영상 편집 기능인 Copy, Paste, Cut, Undo등을 기술하였다. 또한 효율적인 편집 환경을 위해 편집 윈도우 형태를 클립 청, 클립 정보 창, 편집 창, 재생 창, 미리 보기 창으로 구분하였다. 편집된 영상은 효율적 재생을 위하여 DirectDraw을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서 소개한 편집 시스템은 GUI 기반으로 사용자에게 익숙한 사용자 인터페이스 환경을 기술하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 여러 가지 표정으로 입력되어지는 얼굴 이미지를 효율적으로 인식시키는 작업을 수행하는 방법에 대한 내용을 소개하고 있다. 각 얼굴 이미지들은 상황에 따라 많은 표정에 영향 성분을 포함하고 있다. 이런 각기 특성이 다른 얼굴 이미지들의 효율적인 인식을 위하여, 특징 점을 선정을 한 후 실험 진행을 하면 표정에 영향을 많이 받는 이미지를 구분할 수 있다. 여기서 제안하는 방법은 표정이 많이 포함된 이미지에 대하여 표정에 영향을 많이 미치는 특징 점과 그 특징 점영역에 와핑 기법을 처리함으로써 표정이 있는 이미지를 인식하는 방법을 제안한다.
