Methods : This survey was conducted between October 1th and December 31st 2013 and 308 questionnaires were collected from university student and public. The questionnaires of 308 respondents were analyzed through Cosstabs, Descriptive statistics, Frequency study and t-test, ANOVA analysis using SPSS ver. 18.0. Results : There was a significant difference in the awareness rate of occupational therapy by age and occupation (p<.01). People who were knowledgeable about occupational therapy had a friend or relative related to occupational therapy(33.5%), or were informed through media(37.1%). Positive responses regarding whether responders wanted to find more about occupational therapy were high(53%), and publicity(63.5%) turned out to be the most effective method for advancement. Conclusion : Although there is a lack of public awareness on occupational therapy, high percentage of responders showed positive responses in receiving occupational therapy when they get an injury in the future, and furthermore, learn more about occupational therapy. Based on this result, it is clear that high percentage of people were showing interest to occupational therapy. Objective : This study aimed to systematically reviewed to identify, evaluate, synthesize the research literature and suggested to the research direction on the effectiveness of occupational therapy using a sensory integration approach. Methods : We analyzed 10 studies that identified the effectiveness of occupational therapy using a sensory integration approach for children and adolescents offering in MEDLINE/PubMed and http://ajot.aotapress.net between 1993 and 2011. Results : The subjects were the sensory modulation disorder and autism spectrum. The different intervention strategies were similar to a previous studies. Intervention dosage was over 20 sessions, 2~3days per week more than 10weeks. Occupational therapy using a sensory integration approach may result in positive outcome in motor performance, behavioral outcomes, academic and psychoeducational outcomes and tried to currently identify the effect of intervention outcomes in sensory processing and occupational performance using the GAS. Conclusion : Clinicians have a minimal idea planing a research design and a evidence running a study.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the roles and practices of occupational therapists in public health centers based on their working experience of occupational therapists who are working in these facilities. Methods : We used Giorgi's descriptive phenomenological research method. Six occupational therapists were interviewed, and their recorded data were analyzed using Claizzi's thematic analysis. Results : As a result, 4 categories, 16 themes, and 24 elements were elicited. The major roles of occupational therapists in public health centers were the evaluation of clients, home-visit occupational therapy, management of dementia programs and community connection projects. Interventions that are needed to create a healthy community include case and program management, compensatory approaches, and healthy lifestyle interventions. The difficulties experienced by occupational therapists include their limited number job insecurity, performance-oriented administrative policy, and the lack of communication among professionals. Occupational therapists require education in health management and practice in public health centers to build their capacities. Conclusion : The results of this study could be used for guidelines for occupational therapists who work in community healthcare centers, as well as basic training for competent occupational therapists in the community.

Purpose : This study aimed to investigate the effects of a digital pegboard training program with visual and auditory feedback on hand function and visual perception in stroke patients. Methods : Twenty two participants were randomly assigned to an experimental or control group. The experimental group received training using a digital pegboard training program with visual and auditory feedback (n=11), while traditional occupational therapy was administered to the control group (n=11). Hand function was assessed before and after the intervention using the Nine-Hole Peg Test and manual function test (MFT), while visual perception was assessed using the Motor-Free Visual Perception Test-3rd edition (MVPT-3). Results : Following the intervention, both the experimental and control groups showed significant improvements in performance in the Nine-Hole Peg Test and MVPT-3 (p<.05). The improvement on both tests was significantly greater in the experimental group than in the control group (p<.05). Conclusion : The results suggest that digital pegboard training with visual and auditory feedback may improve hand function and visual perception in stroke patients. Therefore, this intervention can be effective in occupational therapy to aid the recovery of stroke patients.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to verify the effectiveness of home-visit occupational therapy in stroke patients. Methods : Two patients with stroke who applied for home-based occupational therapy services at a health center in Seoul were enrolled. The home-visit occupational therapy program evaluates the subject's daily living, task performance, cognitive, and emotional functions, sets occupational therapy goals and plans interventions based on a client-centered approach. Occupational therapy programs consisted of 12 sessions based on the client's major problems. Results : COPM scores improved in both cases, there was an improvement in COPM scores, and in Case 2 there were improvements in MBI and K-MMSE scores. There was also an improvement in KGDS scores in Case 1. Conclusion : Home-visit occupational therapy was found to be effective in improving daily activities, cognition, and mental function of stroke patients. During home and community integration, continuous and continuous rehabilitation services need to be activated from institutional rehabilitation to community-based rehabilitation. Active home-visit occupational therapy is needed to promote physical, cognitive, mental and social access in stroke patients discharged from hospitals.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of telerehabilitation on executive function, activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, and occupational performance in stroke patients. Methods : The participants of this study were 30 outpatients with stroke residing in community. Both groups underwent the intervention 3 times a week for a total of 18 sessions. For the experimental group telerehabilitation was administered at home to only fifteen participants in the experimental group schedule, and it was supervised by the caregiver. Fifteen people in the control group underwent only the traditional occupational therapy. Executive function and instrumental activities of daily living were evaluated using the Korean version of the Executive Function Performance Test (EFPT-K). The basic daily activities of living were assessed using the Modified Barthel Index (MBI). The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) was used to evaluate the client-centered occupational performance. Results : After the intervention, the experimental and control groups showed improvements in executive function, instrumental activities of daily living and occupational performance. Occupational performance improved more significantly in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusion : Telerehabilitation and occupational therapy positively affect executive function, instrumental activities of daily living and occupational performance of patients with stroke. We suggest that telerehabilitation combined with occupational therapy is more effective in improving the occupational performance of stroke patients.
